Drove 30 miles to this business because it was after hours for all other vets. Signed in, was told it would be $80 something right off the bat. OK, fine. So, they take the dog back. After 1 hour of waiting, no word from anyone about anything, someone finally comes to get me and takes me to an exam room. The dog is in back with the vet I'm told. I wait 2 hours before someone comes in to inform me what the cost will be etc.
She then informs me that the amount ($800+) will have to be paid tonight, BEFORE they can do anything for the dog. How am I supposed to get $800+ at 12 midnight?
So, after some hoopla, the decision is made to bandage the dog for now, put on an e-collar and send us on our way, so we can take the dog to a regular vet in the morn.
I ended up paying $157 just to get out the door ($25 of that was for the e-collar that really costs around 5 bucks for Chihuahua size).
Needless to say, I hope to God I never have an after hours emergency with a pet again.
I truly believe that because I was "unkempt" looking, rather than high fashion looking, I was discriminated against. That if I had been rich looking, they would have given me a better option etc.
I can't help that I had only been home from WORK for a couple hours, with my WORK clothes on, all covered in wood shavings, wood dust and wood glue, before I had to rush to their HIGH FASHION place of business.
They shouldn't make anyone wait 3 hours before telling them that they can't even get out of the place without paying a huge bill up front. It's ridiculous. SHAME!!!
