Terrible Customer Service
Oh where do I start? We have been having engine issues with our 2007 Santa Fe, which we bought used from this dealer. We had taken it to regular servicing and extra appointments to try and get it dealt with. I must include that we were coming from Sooke to get this done (80 K round trip). Many different things were identified and fixed, only to finally, after 5 seperate visits, have it identified as internal failure in our transmission. This was of course after I had lost first gear completely - nothing happened when I pushed the gas pedal until the revs hit high enough to slam into second gear and my car would shoot forward. It was under warrenty and they said it would take a week for the new transmission to come in. We asked for a rental car and they said "no" it was SAFE to drive, just don't drive it too much. We were also reminded that we had not purchased the extended warrenty which would have given us a rental car. Again, it would be at minimum driven 80K just to home and back. I have two small children and I use the car in my work to see clients and drive them around. My car was NOT ok to drive and so we rented a rental car ourselves. We again asked to have the rental car covered as this was a warrenty issue and it is not our fault it was going to take a week to get the part in. We were again told no. I just don't see how it's ok to have a warrenty that leaves the driver without a car when it is the DEALER'S issue of getting a part in time. Also, how anyone could say that the car was ok to drive is beyond me. I was in no way shape or form going to put my children in a car that shoots forward (or backwards - same issue in reverse). How the hell do you get out a school parking lot like that? When it was all said and done, the week it took for the transmission to come in, plus 3 days in the shop, we were out over $600 in rental car fees because THEY couldn't get the part. Really? 10 days with no car?? Who can do that?
We sent a letter to Hyundai Canada and the Victoria dealership. Head office called us right away, but said that they did not have any jurisdiction in this matter. We never heard from Victoria Hyundai. Just today I called and asked to speak to Giovanni Gonzalez (general manager) and surprise, surprise, I had to leave a message. We'll see if he calls me back... Also, I put in a call to chek news...

Deceptive business practices
On Mar 2, 2011, I emailed Victoria Hyundai about a Ford Freestyle they had listed in the online Auto Trader. I emailed them through the link on their ad. The ad did not contain a price. I asked for the price of the car. I subsequently received a return email from one of the sales staff advising that the price was $16995. Later in the day I phoned and asked for the salesman. I was told he'd gone home for the day but the person I was speaking with, who identified himself as Mo, the sales manager, could help me. I asked some questions about the vehicle. I gave him the make, colour and most importantly, their stock number. Mo went away and came back with the information I had requested. I explained that I needed the car very quickly. As I lived in another city I explained that I would have to come to the Island on Saturday or Sunday to close the deal. We discussed price and essentially he asked me to make an offer. I offered $16000.He said he'd call me back after he checked with his boss. A short while later he called back and said that the price was agreeable. We talked more and I gave him my Visa number for the deposit of $1000. There was more talk about getting picked up at the ferry, and insurance for the car. I subsequently phoned back to check on the colour of the vehicle. In the ad it showed as black, but in the written portion it identified it as something else. He said that he would go and check. A few minutes later he called back to say that the vehicle was dark gray which was still acceptable to me. The next day I received a phone call from him asking whether I had been interested in a Freestar or a Freestyle. He advised that he'd got the cars confused and that he would have to go back to his boss. A short while later he phoned back to ask who had given me the original price of $16995. When I gave him the salesman's name he went on to say that that vehicle was fully loaded and the best he could do was $17500.When I told him that I thought this was a bait and switch deal and that I wanted no part of it, he advised that he would credit back my deposit. While I am not out monetarily I feel that I have been the victim of a bait and switch scheme or something similar. I had deliberately made a point of giving Mo all of the information to positively identify the vehicle. To say that he got confused is something that I would have to seriously question. I feel that Victoria Hyundai is being very deceptive in their business practices. Mo was not the slightest bit remorseful about any "error" he'd made and to me, it appeared that this was just a way of doing business. They are not someone I would want to do business with.

2010 Tucson Junk!
Since I purschased a 2010 Tucson in February of this year there has been nothing but problems with the vehicle. The service department is so overbooked that the mechanics simply do not have time to do safe work. The rear spoiler needed replacing, electronic brake system replaced and most recently the electronic power steering went. I had told the service department about the steering 2 months ago and they said it was fine. It ended up being a total safety hazard for me when all of a sudden I couldn't steer. I have a 7 year car loan for a total of $43, 000 and I feel totally taken advantage of by this dealership and would never recommend this company to anyone!

Sales
I was looking online and found a car that I was interested in and called to see if it had been sold. They said no, and began asking me some questions. They told me that I had been approved for a 0% loan, the funny thing was, I hadn't even told them any of my information (no SIN or anything)...I thought that was pretty strange. But being 19 at the time, and desperately wanting a new car, I went in to see them. I told them I was interested in a 2007 Hyundai Tiberone, it was pretty basic. The sales guy (Wes) went to bring the car around front for the test drive. But he shows up with a different car!!! He shows up with the top of the line tiberon with surround sound, V6, leather, power everything, body kit, carbon fiber hood, after market exhaust and rims. It was a really nice car. So we take it for a drive, and I obviously fall in love with it. We start to do the paper work and he tells me that I can get the car for $20 some thousand, instead of the $26 grand that was posted online...so I asked, $6000 off seemed like a lot, whats the catch? he told me it was because cars that are that tuned up are very hard to resell, etc etc...gives me the whole programed response. So then he tells me that the payments are going to be 190 biweekly, so $380 a month which sounded great...but the math just didnt add up to me (I forget what the rate was by the way, i think it was 7.9 or 8.9%)...He told me that it was because it was 60 over 84...so the payments were what they would be over 7 years, but the term was 60 months so I would have a balloon payment at the end of about $8000 that I would have to finance...I said absolutely not, why would you have even suggested this car if you knew I couldn't afford it! I grabbed my coat and left...but guess what? I went outside and they had already moved over my effing LICENSE PLATES! they were so sure of their sale that they had already began switching all my stuff without my consent...he then tried to tell me that because I had agreed to the deal initially that I had to buy the car...I told them I hadn't signed anything, and I wanted my plates...so the guy grabbed me a screw driver and told me to change the plates myself...So i stood out in the rain and changed my plates and I could see the sales guys in their laughing at me...It took every ounce of energy not to drive my car through their front window.
I've never experienced such bad service, on top of that, the guy said he needed my credit card number to hold the car while we were working on the deal...guess what happens, 3 days later I notice a $500 charge on my credit card...I had to phone mastercard and get them to investigate so I could get my money back. Of course I hadn't signed anything, and they didnt have my voice on the phone approving the transaction, so I got my money back...but it took like 2 months, and no one at victoria hyundai was obviously going to help. I called so much about that $500 i think they started to screen my calls and were ignoring me.
I should have sued them for all the time i wasted waiting around for them to get there stuff together. They're never on time, and were always late to appointments. In the end I wrote a strongly worded letter to Hyundai Canada, along with the better business bureau...but I never heard anything back. In any case, DONT EVER EVER EVER EVER GO TO VICTORIA HYUNDAI!!! I've never experienced such poor service in my life..

Scam
Never go to victoria Hyundai!!
My husband and I went and test drove a Hyundai accent which was advertised at $13500, and decided we liked the vehicle and that we would apply for credit approval. As we are both very young we do not have a very long credit history so my father agreed to cosign for us in order to get a lower interest rate. The salesman did his usual pitches and encouraged us to get the extended warranty, all sorts of protection packages and one called the West Coast Package, which had options such as Paint protection, fabric protection, rust protection and undercoating. We told him we werent interested in the package to which he asked us if we had to choose three options which three would we choose. We told him our three picks and he told us "he would throw them in for us" appearing to give us a deal. On our first day at the dealership as far as I was informed all the forms we filled out were for the credit application, and due to the bank closing early that day we scheduled another appointment for the following Monday to find out about the status of our credit.
So on Monday we go in and the first thing Charles (the finance manager) said to us was that our credit had been approved however, my name would not be on the contract (as I have no real credit) and our interest rate would be 7.99%!! He then placed a contract on the desk in front of us which had a total of $21, 849 for the principal amount of the vehicle. I became hysterical as I started looking through the contract which had an interest rate of 7.99%, the payments were $330.00 a month which was $50 more than we agreed to, and after those payments for five years we would still have to buy the vehicle out for $7, 677.00. The total in the end with interest and taxes amounted to $27, 400!!! all for a vehicle advertised at 13, 500. When we refused to sign the contract Charles then told us that we had already agreed to buy the vehicle and all the taxes and fees incurred. He told us we had absolutely no other option and whether we signed those papers or not we would have to buy that vehicle.
Anyhow, we put up a huge fuss, my father refused to co-sign and had to take it to the Motor Vehicle Sale Authority of B.C.
We were completely and utterly conned, in the end they had no case, however they still have not refunded our $500 deposit. Every 'manager' I talked to was inconsiderate, arrogant and fully intended to take advantage of us because we had never bought a vehicle before and we were young. I will never go to that dealership again and I suggest you do the same if you want to save your self a lot of stress, frustration and money.

Lousy Customer Care
My husband and I went into Victoria Hyundai in about September looking to see if we could trade in our car for a CUV...after three weeks of mistakes and errors we were asked to come down to sign the papers at a specific time...we ended up waiting over 2 hours for our appointment and then getting rushed through the entire process in about 15 minutes...no chance to confirm things or ask questions nothing...we had been very specific that we wanted to stay very close to our original payments on the car we were trading in which were $175 every two weeks...well we are paying $309 every two weeks...
Well now my husband was recently hit by a car and has been unable to work since november 30th 2009...well as a result our household income has dropped significantly and we are not going to be able to pull off the car payments at the current amount for much longer...well not if we want to pay our rent, bills oh and eat and feed our 2 kids.
SO I thought perhaps we could maybe look at refinancing or trading in for a less expensive car. I phone and talk to one of the finance guys (Cole) and he says they can help and so we make an appointment and we go down...he takes our info and passes us off to a sales guy who spends less than 10 minutes with us...walks away for about 5 and comes back and asks if we would be interested in 2 cars???!?!?!?! We say no and he comes back with well there is nothing we can do. Done finished, bye bye now. ????
They spent three weeks working with us to get us into the thing and now they expect me to believe that they can do nothing to help us get a better rate or into a cheaper car...and he expected me to believe that after I watched him go get a coffee drink the coffee and then come back and tell me he can do nothing...no-more like he doesn't want to...OH wait...they already got your money so now they don't care anymore...nevermind that they screwed up the paperwork...badly...as in our life insurance got canceled cuz they had my husbands age off by about 50 years...and then they have the wrong address on the papers, oh and then when something went wrong with a car that had 125km ( and I don't mean thousand) on it they didn't give a crap...the service department rocked on that issue thank goodness...but as far as I am concerned I wouldn't suggest to someone i despised to buy a car from Victoria Hyundai.
Prior to this I had sent an email to the company head office in Canada to complain about the lack of service and was told I could expect to hear from someone at Victoria Hyundai...never heard from them...am in fact going to be sending another email regarding this issue.

Poor customer service!
On june 29, 2007 i took my car in for a regular tune-up, and low and behold my service bill was twice the price do to them doing unauthorized work on my car. The shop refused to drop the extra charges. So if any one in the victoria area is reading this, please do not take your car here, or even purchase any car from them at all.
