After driving past Viking Dodge the other day and seeing the sign on the car for this website, I think to myself, perhaps I will go join him and maybe more people would stop and join this guy to make it all more obvious. Not that he isn't doing a GREAT job alone. His sign stands out loud and clear but why are people still going in to shop at Viking Dodge? Ok, so my story was back in 1994. Had 2 kids, needed a van. Go to Viking Dodge and I knew what my payments would be for a 5 year loan/interest rate in order to be getting the van for the price I expected to pay and not be screwed around on my trade in.
Well, they got me to those payments and of course after being there for what felt like a week negotiating, I signed the papers, went home happy. A few days later, I opened the envelope with my paperwork to think.. now where did the CONTRACT go? It wasn't in the envelope. VIKING DODGE never gave me a copy. They denied it and after finally a week later getting a copy when I went in and stood there until they ran a copy off for me, I NOTICED the months of the loan had not been entered as 60 months, but as 72 months ! TOTAL SCAM. I called Dodge, complained. They only said they would take the van back and replace it with something in my price range. My trade in... what about my trade in??? nothing could be done according to them. My trade in value would stay at how they entered it on the contract. I don't remember exactly what they put down in the contract for my trade in... I will have to go dig up the paperwork downstairs. Nothing seemed to help or get me out of this transaction. I kept the van and battled the anger for a very long time. I wanted to go in there and scream out loud to all the prospective customers to beware. Of course I didn't, I would be labeled a nut right? Or would I have considering the amount of people they have scammed for all these years?
My relatives referred to the salesman's name (as a joke for many years) by calling him my 'Uncle Phil' because this salesman named Phil said I should just trust him like he was my uncle. HA!
'I DID get you into a Caravan like you wanted' said Uncle Phil @ Viking Dodge.
