Not Accomodating!
I do not have experience with that particular doctor at Village Family Care but The P.A.'s that saw me were very thorough and helpful. I did have one concern however, that I wanted to share. After I went to check out at the front, I asked the receptionist for a doctor's note that covered a 2 day period. I wanted it to cover the day before I was seen and the day I was seen. The receptionist told me that the P.A. was not able to provide me with a doctor's note for both days because she had not seen me the day prior. I let the receptionist know that I work for the Dept. of Corrections and that they are very strict about having documentation concerning absences. This seemed not to make any difference to the receptionist or the P.A. who had just seen me. I also told the receptionist that I had tried to get an appointment the day prior but there simply were no openings. She then looked something up on her computer and said in a rude tone " You called up here at 4:30 yesterday and we stop seeing patients at 4". I tried to tell her that the reason I had called at the time I did is because I am on a different schedule than other people are because I work from 6pm to 6am. What I didn't tell her and should have is that I actually did call that morning but I kept getting a busy signal, no voicemail, no out of office message etc. She simply refused to give me a note for the additional day and told me that doctors will only write out of work notes for the day you actually come to the office to be seen. So If I needed to be out an additional day I guess I would need to come back, pay another co-pay just so I could have another piece of paper with an additional date. Maybe this is a liability law or something that I didn't know about, but I have never encountered this kind of problem anywhere else. I did get the feeling though that it was something she could do, but did not want to do. Needless to say, now I have to find another doctor who will work with me because the guidelines at my job are too strict to worry that a receptionist is going to decide to give me a hard time. I also would have thought that she would have recognized that I do a very dangerous job being a Correctional Officer at a Maximum Security Prison and that because of my odd schedule, she would understand why I had called the office back so late.

Not a caring facility!
Village Family Care claims to have a patient-centered-approach for those who want quality, comprehensive care. VFC claims to believe in creating strong, trusted partnerships with patients. VFC makes it sound like they are here to serve you with the best possible intentions, but I'm here to tell you that VFC is not at all what it claims to be. If you are looking for a doctor for yourself or your family at Village Family Care, please keep looking, you may thank me later.
I've been on a controlled medication to treat ADD for 2 years. I became a patient at Village Family Care (VFC)in May 2006 and during my 1st office visit/exam I was prescribed Wellbutrin XL. The PA (Jena Hoh) said the prescriptions are good for 1 year and after 1 year you must make an appointment to continue taking any prescribed medications. In June 2009, my prescription for Wellbutrin XL had expired and I was unable to get it refilled, so I called VFC and told them the situation. VFC called my pharmacy and approved 2 more months of the Wellbutrin--no problems!! Less than 30 days later I realized my Adderall XR was going to run out on August 2 2009. Back in May 2009 another PA at VFC wrote me 3 months of prescriptions (3 separate scripts) for the Adderall XR. Because Adderall XR is controlled I would normally have to go pick up a prescription every 30 days from VFC, then take it to the pharmacy and have it filled.
I just started a job less than 6 months ago and I am still considered a temporary employee. It was very, very difficult to find the type of job I did even with my educational background. Because I want to stay with this company and can not afford to lose this job for any reason, taking any time off is very risky! The economy is awful and the unemployment rate in North Carolina just passed 10%. I made an appointment with VFC the last week in July, but was unable to come to the appointment because I was needed in the office. My medications are very important to me, but right now nothing is more important than keeping my job! Besides, I don't have insurance and doctor's visits and prescriptions are paid for out-of-pocket----NOT having an income in NOT an option! For some reason VFC thought I was this horrible person for missing my appointment. They said they are short-staffed!! I can't believe they need help and can't find any!! So, because I missed my appointment the last week in July, they said the next appointment available was on August 7 2009. I brought the fact that I would go without my medication for 5 days, but they did not care--AT ALL!!! They told me I must make an appointment every 6 months for controlled prescriptions, but I'd been coming just once a year. I was never told until July 30 2009 that I was suppose to come in every 6 months. I thought your doctor's office is a caring place and they would want to do anything and everything to make sure their patients are comfortable and getting the treatment they need. Village Family Care does not Care About You! They did not care that I would go without my medication for 5 days!! They wouldn't even write a script for 5 days until my appointment on August 7 2009! What awful, awful people! Furthermore, the girl whom I spoke with on the phone was very unprofessional and she made no sense what-so-ever, her name was Heather.
There is no reason why you should ever have a single problem with your doctor's office. There is no reason why anyone who's been taking medications continuously for more than 2 years should go without their medication!! There is no excuse to knowingly make your patient suffer for 5 days because you refuse to make their medicine available to them. A PA or doctor who does this should not be practicing! Jena Hoh is the PA who made me suffer for 5 days straight. If you're looking for a doctor for yourself or your family I would not recommend Village Family Care in Wake Forest, NC. Not only would I not recommend that office entirely, I would never ever recommend Jena Hoh for anything unless you need to suffer---she would be perfect for that!! And for the receptionist named Heather, who I don't have a last name for, made the whole situation even more frustrating due to her overall incompetence, her lack of understanding people in general, and her unacceptable phone mannerisms.
