Due to their negligence and unprofessional service, I lost more than R20 000 worth

I hired VIP Movers to remove and store my furniture when I left South Africa in 2008. Firstly Michelle charged me much more than the quoted amount for the monthly storage fee.

I was shocked when I saw the place they stored my furniture at. It was in the backyard of a resedential house. Michelle lied to me when she told me my furniture would be stored in an enclosed container in a proper storage facility. My property was dumped in a stack and mixed up with other property which belonged to another customer.

On returning my property, 4 boxes was missing, containing electrical equipment and other items. My books, linen, sheets, tablecloths and towels was rotten because the boxes it was in, evidently became wet. My kitchenware which included a Royal Albert porcelain set, was broken. This in spite of this being packed away covered in newspaper in boxes clearly marked as being breakable, to be handled with care. Also my antique furniture was damaged.

I asked them about the inventory, but this was conveniently missing. Due to their negligence and unprofessional service, I lost more than R20 000 worth.

Stay away from these people!

These people are bad news - of the worst kind

At the end of September, I accepted VIP's quote to move my ENTIRE HOUSEHOLD from Cape Town to JHB. I was told that I had to pay in full before they would remove my stuff - which I did. I was also informed that it would take 3 days to get my stuff to JHB, it has now been a month and I still have not received my goods. The excuses have been amazing, from the truck broke down, it has been re-routed, it will arrive tomorrow at 11:00 to oops the guys have been working to slowly so no perhaps later this week!! Michelle Rismani (owner of VIP) and her side kick Hettie (?) are rude, obnoxious and shout at you on the phone. They don't return your calls and when they do they only tell lies. I have now employed a lawyer and we have found out that VIP did not pay the trucking company called Moving Connections and that these people (Carol Cloete, Leon van Gruenen and Deon?) are holding my goods ransom till they get payment - which is essentially THEFT as I have a contract with VIP and not moving connections. I was then asked by Moving Connections to pay them an R10 000.00 to release my goods. WOW what scammers! I will NOT pay anyone anymore money! Never trust VIP or Moving Connections!
