Wont cancel account
Virgin Mobile is evil! I found I wasn't using my mobile phone as much as I thought I would, called them to cancel and they wouldn't cancel my account! Talked to several people over several months, and after about 3 months of screaming finally got them to cancel it. Bad reception on phone, customer service in the Philippines who can't understand English, stay away from this company!!!

No Service, No return on my contact
I sent this letter which explains all:
To whom it may concern

I have had the most disgusting service from Virgin Mobile and will try to explain.

1. I was called to say that I qualify for a new phone (April 2009). I was told that my application was successful. (I am to this day NOT AWARE of even applying).
2. Upon receiving my first statement, I was billed for a line that was ported to Vodacom in January 6, 2009. 074 104 4571. I blocked the payment, and reported the mistake, or I thought it was a mistake ( much rather incompetence.)
3. On the second statement, one month later, an amount of R1 500 was illegally taken from my account and once again there was the charge for the above number. This I allowed through and many many many calls and e mails from my side with NO, NONE AT ALL, reaction from the so called SORT ME OUT centre. (What a joke!)
4. We will call you back in 20 minutes has proven to be a lie, as this never happened.
5. I was promised that the problem would be sorted as the person(s) that spoke to me could see, or so they said, that there was a mistake on my bill.
6. On the 5 May, 2009, I received a Nokia N96.
7. On the 19th July, the cell refused to boot up. I went to Musica store and was told that I need proof that I bought the phone from them, I have been billed three times for the phone, but I need proof of Purchase before they could take the Phone in for repairs.
8. On the next call, I was asked: You opened the phone so there is no waranty. I objected and was told: You opened the box, so the waranty is cancelled. (How would one use a phone in a box? I really cannot tell you. I told the guy that he cannot be serious and was told that that is the way it works, if the box was opened, the phone must be fixed at my cost)
9. I was promised that the bill which should be R550 will be corrected. And on my request as to what my next payment would be, was given the amount of about R926. BACK TO SQUARE ONE!
10. I asked repeatedly to speak to the Manager, or director or whatever the person is called designated :IN CHARGE and was told that they were not allowed to give out that info. But I must tell them and they will sort it out. I was left with a dead line on many, many more than one occasion.

I would like to know what my next step, short of legal advice, would be. This letter will be forwarded to Nokia. This is a desperate attempt to get this sorted out.
I have a phone I cannot use, a bill I will not pay, and I do not have the time as I have a business to run, being a small business man that works for myself. NO WORK, NO PAY. My Patients cannot contact me, I have lost all my info on the phone as the phone is dead. AND no-one interested in helping me.

I can highly reccommend the salesman in the Musica Shop at Fourways as he sincerely tried to help me, he can be contacted to confirm all the above.

Yours faithfully

this is by far the WORST EVER MOBILE COMPANY! i have only had my phone for 2 months and it is rubbish. Firstly virgin didnt send me an email tellin me my phone bill would be coming out and then wen i found out they told me i would be cut off even though it was there fault not sendin me an email. Secondly. This time they did email me so i made sure there was money in my bank for my bill to come out. Virgin haven't taken out the money and are now tellin me there is a problem with my account and to carry on using my phone i must ring them so i did and there system was bein updated so they couldn't do anything about it. And the story goes on very rude to me over phone. I am so annoyed. Virgin is the WORST network!

unauthorized billinfg
I was billed twice in July for a monthly charge. When I called to complain, they gave me some story about why it happened, and finally said they would give me a refund. I called again four days later, and they said that it would take 3-4 business days. When I called again 10 business days later, (today) they told me the credit had been made 14 days prior and the investigation was closed. I asked why, if that was the case, the person I'd called the first time couldn't see that the credit had already been made. Well of course they didn't have a good answer and only apologized. they told me that I have to call my bank to track the credit, as it could take an entire billing cycle to show up. Of course this is BS, the credit was never made 14 days ago. This company outsources its customer service to India and the reps are difficult to understand. They also are obviously reading from a script and can't respond to individual issues.
Virgin Mobile gets an F for customer service.

Virgin lousy way to run a company
Worst experience I have had with a company in years! Website claims 2.5 hrs and up to 3 days to port number from another carrier. 7 full days later, without any cell service, and Virgin mobile still will only say that it is "pending". Thanks to their crappy service, the number I have had for 15 years is now lost. Hours and hours of frustration for me in trying to make this work out. I managed a real estate company for 20 years, trained the agents, made contacts and even though I am retired I still am in touch with all my past clients and many of the agents who call on me for technical advice and suggestions. You can bet that EVERYONE I speak to in the future will be aware of my experience and the futility of trying to deal with Virgin Mobile and Sprint (I understand that Sprint now has my cell number!?) as well as the frustration of a company that cannot hire competent employees or provide phone service. Isn't this supposed to be a phone company? You would think that someone at Virgin Mobile would know something about turning service on for a customer. Wrong. Very unhappy with my experience. On the plus side at least I know all this before getting stuck in a long term contract.

Scam artists
I went up and got a $20.00 top off card to add minutes to my virgin mobile phone and after entering all the info., i ended up with (0) minutes! I called them and they gave me a number that doesn't even exist. Do you think they would give me a refund? HELL NO!

Total rip off
I had a pre-paid play for for $34.99 + tax with Virgin Mobile. My bill was due on the 15th of each month. This Month (August) my phone stopped working due to a dead battery. If you do not "top up" then your phone is temporarily disconnected until you pay for your plan again. I was never on any automatic debit payment plan. I would have to pay either online or from my phone. This was the 2nd phone I had replaced with virgin mobile and usually while their service was good, I thought I'd be better off going to a different provider (T-mobile) for an actual plan. I checked my checking account on line and I saw a charge from Virgin Mobile for $44.44. I called customer service and they tell meit the charge was for my monthly plan. I advised that them that I didn't do any automatic debit and they now that I am no longer with them as T-mobile allowed me to keep my same # from Virgin Mobile which Virgin Mobile has to authorize. They tell me that since I am no longer a customer and my account is inactive they can't tell if I used minutes. I told them the bill was due on 15th, they debited my account on the 18th and I switch to T-Mobile on 8/19. They told me there was nothing they can do and now they charged me for service I am not even using. Total Rip-off!

scam
They will sell you a phone knowing that not all areas are covered and they will take your credit card info for monthly billing and when you try to cancel your account, their customer service reps are trained to say that they can not give refunds on deactivated accounts. It took me several days to actually get to a customer service supervior who now states their computer system is down and updating and that it will take a WEEK to resolve and issue my refund. This has been going on every time I call. This is a big scam. To sell you a phone that doesnt offer a very good coverage area and then get your debit card so they can keep charging you without offering a refund AT ALL! I bought the phone at a best buy store and they have no clue what this company is doing to the innocent buyers. Best Buy will take the phone back, but has nothing to do with you getting a credit on your debit card for the monthly plan. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!

rip of on money
I Just switched to virgin mobile 3 days ago and i must say i am very disappointed with the service. i am switching back to another carrier. this has been by far the W0RST CELL PHONE COMPANY EVER!! I was supposed to be on the unlimited plan(I Paid for it) and had paid for unlimited messaging(also paid) as well. They ripped me off and not only did they not port my number over from a previous carrier, they came up with a story saying that i can't be on the unlimited plan till 24 hrs. I called back only to be given the run around that a case has been filled out and that it will take 24- 72 hrs. I started service 4 days ago and i have not used my phone ever since i got it because they have me on a 20cents per min call plan and told me there is nothing they can do about it. but were quick to rip me of $70.00 bucks with no service for four days AND COUNTING. i am very disappointed and would warn anyone STAY CLEAR OF VIRGIN MOBILE...THE WORST SERVICE EVER!!!
