Billing for magazines
I received a phone call from the Virginia Renewal Services about a magazine subscription I had taken out in October or November 2010. They wanted to set up billing for the second half of my 5 year subscription. I believed that I had paid the entire account off in March. They said I had just paid half of it. I was at work at the time of the call so I did not have access to my bank statements. When I asked how much I had paid they said they could not tell me because they weren't the billing department, and the billing department was at lunch. They put me on a recorded question answer program and asked questions so fast they sounded like an auctioneer. I was instructed to answer yes or no. When I hesitated because I could not understand what they were saying, they became very irate because it had cancelled the recording and they said we had to start again. Every time I complained they would offer me a better deal on the remainder of my account which I am not sure I owe in the first place. Finally they put me through to another supervisor, and I still got no satisfaction when I asked about the total cost and the amount that they were saying I still owed. They then transferred me to another person and still no satisfaction about what I had paid and what I owe. They said they would call me back when the billing department returned for lunch. When I asked if I could just cancel I was told no. They told me I have paid in full for 24 months and they were only trying to set up payment for the remainder which they would give to me in 30 months. I asked once again for the amount I have paid so far and they did not answer. I said if I owe more I would like to cancel what I have not paid. They said they would not and that my second billing cycle starts tomorrow. I asked why since I have already according them paid for 24 months and have only been receiving the magazines for approximately 6 months. Please let me know if there is anything I can do about this. I do not want to have a bad credit mark, but I also feel I have been scammed and I do not want to pay any more.
