I needed to have the locks re-keyed on one of my rental properties fairly quickly. My normal locksmith was not available so I searched for a local locksmith that provided 24 hour service. I contacted Vista Locksmith and used their Internet coupon for 25% off the service call. The locks were changed on the scheduled appointment time. When I returned to the property I found that the lock tumblers on the front and back doors would pull out when the key was extracted from the locks. I called the main phone number, (281) 888-7023, and told the dispatcher of the situation. He said that he will contact the locksmith that provided the service and will get back to me. The next day I received a phone call from a different locksmith. The second locksmith told me that he had replaced the front door passage lock completely without my knowledge or approval. He did not have the original key to match from the original change so it was re-keyed differently from the first locksmith that was there. So, the key for the front door passage lock was different from the front door deadbolt lock. I told him that this was not acceptable and that all the locks needed to be keyed to be the same. He replied that the passage door locks were too old to re-key and that is why the two door locks broke. I also told him that my original locksmith had re-keyed those locks three times before with no problems. I told him that the original locksmith did not know what he was doing and broke the two passage locks. He also said that he did not charge me $60 for the new passage lock on the front door. The back door was still not fixed. He said that I had to call the dispatcher to resolve the issue regarding the back door. I called the dispatcher and left a message for a return call. I received a return phone message two days later but did not return the call. The delay on the return call was too long for me. I was getting the run-around and needed to get the house secured for my next tenants so I called a different locksmith. He promptly resolved the issue, replaced the front and back passage locks, re-keyed all the locks to be the same, and charged me a lot less that Vista Locksmith. For their slow service, dishonesty, and over charges I don’t recommend Vista Locksmith for ANY service.
