Huge scam
Personally I think vital check and your health department are in it together to scam you. I ordered my birth certificate on April 25th and now it's May 26th, still no birth certificate?. I've been home everyday waiting for mail". I called vitalcheck and they recommend I call the county department!. I called them and they said that they sent it out on the 25th of April/. Really? You're telling me that for once in a lifetime a government place work that superfast without me having to pay to get it expedited? Of course it's so convenient that there aren't any tracking number, . Also I placed the order from California at 1pm here which will be 4pm in Ohio, the office would just close and they were so nice to find the record, print it out and shipped it out to me? Unbelievable! I called vitalcheck back and they told me to call the post office?. WHAT?! There's no tracking number so how is the post office going to track it? So yes if I want it resent "because the postal most likely lost your mail" I have to pay again and was "advised" to get it expedited to get a tracking number, meaning more money". Not only am I pissed but I am frustrated and hurt! $31 is not pocket change for me, especially in this economy.

Sent me the wrong form
I ordered my wife's birth certificate for a passport from Texas(a state which requires the long form) and had it sent to CA(a state which also requires the long form) and they sent me an abstract. When I contacted them and told them I needed the long form they said there was nothing they could do and I needed to contact the state of Texas. This is there business, they obviously knew I needed the long form yet knowingly sent me an abstract and charged full price plus expedited shipping. When I contacted them(after 4 attempts and 40 minutes on hold) they said they could not get me the long form and I would have to contact the state of Texas. Again they had to know this prior to accepting and charging me for my order. It was a blatant rip off and they would not refund my money. Do not do business with this company, just contact the state directly!

Paid for birth certificate but didn't recieve
Paid $48.00 for a certified copy of my birth certificate because my original one is missing. I got confirmation of payment recieved and never recieved my certified copy of my birth certificate. The courthouse and department of motor vehicles need this identification in order for me to become a resident in another state. They suggested vital check, but I am not giving my money away again. What am I supposed to do and where do I turn to get some assistance in this matter? I need an answer ASAP!

took my money did not provide the service
Vital Check charged me for a service they did not provide. I ordered my birth certificate from them in December of 2010. May 25, 2011 I received a letter from them saying they could not match me to the NJ vital statistic records. They told me I could pay again and resubmit my application. I tried many times to contact them to inquire about the delay. They told me my order was processed and they could do nothing to help me. Please pay again...This is a bad and shameful.

Took my money, no certificate
I also used the vital check system, there seems to be no place to go in person. they charged me 65 dollars and continued to express mail me (fee applies) and charge me for a blank piece of paper claiming there is no record of my birth. They had my email and phone and could have contacted me before express mailing me an empty envelope. Also the phone number i was given was to some pharmacy in the 518 area code. just another internet scam i guess. Of course they have a no refund policy on their applications.

Waste of time
I needed by Birth Certificate from california. I contacted the state and was told it would take two to four weeks. I also checked the application and Ca. asks only for a notarized statement for id. ( I lost my licence)
So I go with this vital check to make it quicker. They send me their forms but unlike Ca they require a picture id, which I dont have and that is why I am trying to get my birth certificate.
Emails have gone unanswered and no one answers the phone # they give once you pay.
So I called California again and they said to send the paperwork overnight with an overnight envelope for them too send it back and I may get it in time to get my license.
Wish I would have done this from the start because I threw 50 bucks away and also delayed myself even further.
Funny thing is I did a search for this company before I paid and them and found very little complaints. Now when I search for complaints after the fact I find them everywhere. Aint that always the case?

Rip off
They are a rip off. They charge you $6.00 for something you can do yourself. I thought they checked you out saving you the notary fee, but After I go through all the steps on line, they say I have to fill out the ID verification form and have it notarized and then fax it to them. I could have faxed it to the county myself. I am calling BBB next..They say "your order cannot be processed until you fax us theID verification form, but if you cancel we will still charge you the $6.00 fee.

No Problem!
I was surprised to see so many complaints concerning Vital Check. I ordered a birth certificate through them, and even though the web site stated that processing and delivery could take up to two weeks, my certificate was delivered two days after I had placed the order.
I am tempted to think that there are phishing sites out there designed to look loke Vital Checks web site. All of the information necessary to steal a person's identity is entered - not to mention their credit card number - and there's not a whole lot they can do about it.
My advice is to use ONLY the link to Vital Check from the official state records web site. Do NOT select anything but an official state web site when Googling "Birth Certificates"!
