Double coupons
Double coupons? Sure! With some stipulations. Vons will gladly double manufacturer coupons only and only up to $1.00. If the coupon is for .10 cents off something they will double it. If the coupon is for .99 cents off, they will kick in another penny. This is not "double coupons". This is "double anything under .51 cents".
See I think this is still a pretty good deal but not after what I just saw on tv. There was this show which was about coupon addicts. Based on the quality it seems as though this footage was likely captured some time within the last year or 2 ('10-'11). What these people were doing is going to stores that offered true double coupons and buying up to $3, 000.00 worth of groceries for as little as $500.00! I, being unemployable since '05 and penniless since '08, can really use something like this as $200.00/mo. in food stamps is not nearly enough to live on! The really unfortunate thing is the people that were taking advantage of these huuuuge savings are hoarding it. Many of them have what they refer to as "stock piles". What can consist of a "stock pile" is 40 tubes of tooth paste-60 large containers of t.p.-45 bottles of shampoo-35 jugs of Clorox Bleach and so on. I can only imagine the reason Vons does not allow true double coupons is because of this. Some of these people even made money based on the coupons being doubled. While I am struggling severely as a result of 4 disability denials, one with an attorney, these people are making a career out of "couponning". Must be nice and thanks a ton Vons!!

Poor Customer Service
I had the service manager, David or Daniel, an Asian man, refuse to let the meat department clerk grind up a roast stating that because it was on sale he could not. I am sorry but I was a butcher for over 5 years and this is exactly what the service counter is for. To deny a customer service because the roast was "on sale" has to be against company policy. There was nothing in the ad that stated the meat could not be serviced. Needless to say, I am not going to shop there any more. Neither should anyone who is tired of the poor service the grocery chains are providing these days.

Employee Rudeness
I went to shop at Vons today and was asked, after swiping my debit card, if I would like to donate to the cancer foundation. I pressed no. I then was asked by the clerk if I would like to donate funds to the cancer foundation. I told him I was already asked that, he replied that he felt it was a good cause. My daughter explained to him that we had just lost her son to cancer and we do our share. he replied that he lost his mother to cancer and that it was a privilege for him to ask for money for the cancer foundation. I would like to point out that I do not go to Vons to donate to any charitable organization, I also do not go there to be asked by people outside your store for donations (which they do every day). On top of that I do not need a Supervisor (Michael) trying to shame me into donating money when I am spending what little money I have at Vons. I will be more than happy to go to another store.

The mangers and the checkers act like there doing us a favor, it"s like we are there for them! They have a bad attitude !- for instance I was in line 15 items or less - handed the checker some coupons - her reply was this was going to take some time ! By the way it was early in the morning and it was not busy! I know this sound petty but may be some of the Vons reps should come up here to Ojai and check it out for themselves! You just spent a lot of money remodeling the store ! Maybe your money would be better spent retraining some of the employees on what costumer service is all about! By the way in this small town of 8500 your store is basically the only game in town, maybe that is indicative of the attitude! I if you think I'm just complaining- I dare you to stand out in front and ask other costumers !

customer service
I came into the store wanting to use their western union because I had already came in there to buy some groceries previously. Well when I came back from unloading the car everyone was on a register and it took managers to all of a sudden say that the machine was done and I would have to go somewhere else down the street. It bothered me because they couldn't take the time to help me but had time to step away from the register and tell me to go somewhere else! It was unappropriate the way they handled this situation when I overheard one of the managers say to the other there is on one at the service desk and assume that the machine was broken!

home delivery
lthe store called this afternoon to tell me my debit card wouldn't go through for an internet delivery order. i called my bank and was assured there was plenty of funds available. After the store tried several times to run the card and the bank claimed they weren't going through and the fault was with Vons they said they would try again and call if it still didn't work they call. When no call came I assumed it worked. When they hadn't delivered by 7:30 i called customer service and was told the delivery had been cancelled. I use an electric scooter because of a disability so going to the store at 8;00 wasn't an option. I am diabetic and had nothing for supper or breakfast because of a stupid manager. Yet I had ordered from amazon at the same time and it worked fine.

NOT ENOUGH CHECKERS
The CLAIRMONT SQUARE VONS NEVER HAS ENOUGH CHECKERS I HAVE TO WAIT 30MINS TO GET CHECKED OUT AND THE SUPERVISOR DIDNT EVER CARE SHE DID NOT HELP OUT THE POOR CHECKER, THAT CHECKER WAS TAKING ABUSE FROM PISSED OF CUSTOMERS AND SHE HAS NO HELP NO ONE TO BACK HER UP!!! THAT STORE IS THE WOREST VONS I HAVE EVER BEEN TO.
BUT THAT CHECKER THAT NIGHT IS ONE OF THE BEST CHECKERS I HAVE MET.

descriminiation
a black employee looked at me in a discriminating manner since im hispanic when i picked up a hair polisher, after i decide not to buy it so i left it on the shelf when i went to pay the employee came to me asking were is the thing, iwere is the thing humiliating me infront of the other customers and cashiers so i had to take her to it and show her, i asked to speak to the manager hironically he said sorry and that his merchandise was low like if we were to be blamed for that..this was the first time i have been there and i donot plann to go again///

Bad customer service
I have been a Vons Customer for over 30 years. In my current town of residence, Scripps Ranch San Diego, there are 2 grocery stores, both Vons. This has never been a problem for me as I have always liked shopping there. However, recently it seems like the cashiers are getting less and less friendly. That, I can deal with. But today I spent $413.oo at Vons and the cashier said that I would be getting more "free gas" added to my card. I was overjoyed. Then she asked for my card. I didn't have a card because I threw my previous gas card away. NO ONE EVER TOLD ME TO KEEP IT! When I received the first gas card I was thrilled. But they never said to keep it. So I told her that. She said "sorry you have to have it, I can't give you another one." She told me to see the manager. This manager was the rudest man I have ever talked to . He said "I can't just issue you a new card" I told him no one had told me that I needed to keep the card. Mind you, I have shopped at this particular Vons for 10 years and spend about $300 a week there. He said "Well, everyone has told everyone about keeping the card, I can't give you a new one" Then they gave me a number to call. Have you ever tried to call Vons customer service??? Give yourself a few extra hours and some patience. I once tried to call to make sure that my credit card was not charged for something after their computers went down.So I am not even going to attempt calling the number. I know that they figure they have the market on us in this town so they really don't care. Not that it really matters to them, but I will take my business to a nearby town from now on. I did it for months in 2003 when Vons was on strike. I can do it again. I can't imagine how hard it is to issue me another gas card or at least explain to me why they can't. And telling me that everyone has been told to keep it. Essentially he told me I was a liar. When you walk down the isles at Vons some employee in every isle asks you if you are finding everything, almost to the point of annoyance. If I couldn't find something, I'd be happy that they were available to ask though. So is that how they are working on customer service and then letting the rude employees be the cashiers and management?
