Vortech pushy salesmen
I have a serious complaint on the two salesmen from Vortech Vacuums. On July 19, 2007, a vacuum salesman came to our door about 7:30pm. I was in the bedroom not feeling well. I heard talking and went to see who was here. My husband said this salesman, Charlie, asked to demo this vacuum and I told him I wasn't buying one. I went back to the bedroom.

About 30 minutes later, I went out to see why the salesman was still here. Charile asked if I would sit in on the demo as he would get more points, I told him I was not feeling well so I went back to the bedroom. My husband came in and said that the vacuum was doing a great job and I told him we did not need a new vacuum. When the second salesman (Alan) came in, I came out to see what was taking place. Alan said he would give us a $1200 trade in for our Majestic Queen, I told him we do not need a new vacuum, he said "would you be pissed if your husband bought on", I said "YES". I went back to the bedroom. By now it is 10:00pm, my husband asked me if he should buy it, by now I am pissed and said "do what you want". By the time they left it was 11:00pm. My husband finally admitted that they were not leaving till I bought it. So, he paid the $1625 balance by credit card.

The next day, I told him, we do not need this vacuum, we have other obligations and we cannot afford it at this time. He agreed and thats when I called to cancel it. Charlie called and said he would pick it up on Saturday at 2pm. Alan dropped him off in hopes that he could change our mind and he still tried to get us to buy it.

I asked him where Alan went and he said to his house to get your vacuum. I told him NO we were not going to change our minds and we had other obligations to tend to. He said if I would of seen the demo I would change my mind, I still said NO. I told him I had looked this vacuum up on line and the reviews were NOT good. Then he got irate and said by canceling this sale, he lost out on his commission and bonus of $400 and that I took the food right off his table to feed his kids. I told him I was sorry to hear that, but rather you than us spend $1625 for something we did not need and our vacuum was doing just great.

He still tried pressuring us into keeping it. Then Alan came back with our vacuum, he offered another $400 off we we would keep it and that he was not making anything on the sale, but that Charlie would lose his $400. I told him that we just don't need it and that is that. Now he got nasty and I told them both, "gentlemen, you have got to understand what NO means", now, I have heard enough and I want you both to take your vacuum and get the hell out of my home. Alan was still arguing about Charlie's loss on the deal and once again I told them to leave and I mean NOW. They did leave and I think I heard him call me a nasty name.

This to me is very poor customer relations and bad for the company to have such pushy salesman and I am also sending a copy of this to the Consumer's Protection Bureau and the Vortech company. Thank you. Dorthy
