Wachovia Bank Reviews

Fraud and cheating!
When Wachovia Bank bought out World Savings, they acquired my two CD's which were worth $10,000 each plus interest. One matured on Jan. 12, the next on Jan. 19, 08. As of Jan. 20, I still had no check on the first one and I had called to close it out on Jan. 12. When I called, I also was closing out the one on Jan. 19th and I asked where my first check was.

After much time on hold, I was told it was not sent because I had a PO Box address! I could not believe it as I have that for safety. I was told my home address would now be registered and it would be sent. It would take 7 to 10 days to arrive! I asked about priority mail and told it was $15. I asked them to enter a complaint for my lost interest on this money as I have other accounts which I am waiting to put it into. I was told they would send it priority and waive the fee.

I called again on the 21st to check it. Was told it went out first class mail instead of third class! In the meantime, this bank has had my money, interest free! I am loosing 6% with the Credit Union I belong to every day and have already purchased another CD with another bank so there is a lesser amount in my checking account now receiving the 6%. I think the Bank owes people to contact them immediately if they have a problem sending the money. I have had no trouble with on line banks, I would never do business with Wachovia again. I had a checking account with them in Florida for years. Good bye Wachovia.

Scam and fraud!
I was on the Wachovia website wanting to give positive feedback to a Wachovia Employee. I found on the Wachovia website which stated the following. Senior staff members may not need quite so much praise and encouragement over learning new skills, but they emphatically do need praise and encouragement for their effort and commitment. Most employees, and indeed most bosses, feel that they do not get enough meaningful positive feedback. Everyone would benefit greatly from more thoughtful and clear interactions of this kind. Here is the link. Toward bottom of page.

I called Wachovia to give a District Manager a positive employee performance appraisal. I only have a free checking account so I only get 2 free 'ACCOUNT INQ PERSON TO PERSON' calls per month. Each additional one is $2

Banking Definitions - http://www.allbusiness.com/glossaries/banking/4941812-1.html
Definition of Account Inquiry - request for a copy of an individual's account history.
Definition of account history - summary of a deposit account's activity, including interest earned, during a particular period.

This call had nothing to do with an ACCOUNT INQ yet I am charged $2 for this. I feel good about what I did and was also told this appraisal would go to the president of Wachovia.

But being charged $2 for this? Do I feel ripped off? Absolutely!

Scam and rip off!
On January 14th I went to Wachovia on the corner of NorthLake Blvd. & Military Trail to cash a check a customer gave me and the bank charged me $5.00 because I did not have an account with them. This is a RIP OFF of the public, for what reason should I be charged? The person owed me the money and gave me a check (no Problem) except for the bank, If the person didn't have the funds in the bank they wouldn't cash it anyway, why the $5.00 fee?

I am going to write the banking and insurance commission on this. How about this happening a few thousand times a day? Who pockets the money? This is a Real American consumer RIP OFF.

Fraudulant account!
After having an Wachovia account for 20 years, since i turned 18 in the year of 1999, now at the age of 28, It is extremely sad to say that I DO NOT recommend Wachovia bank to anyone! They are a major scam, and treat their customers with no respect. They avoid situations, and only credit customers back with overdraft fees the $35. and how ever many they have when they are in fault. As of right now, I am currently getting a run around between the dispute Department and the bank itself because on 11/05/07 I realized that I had $99.95 withdrew+ a $35.00 overdraft fee to my account from a credit card company of Millinium Bank. I then realized that I never even applied for a C.C for Millinium Bank and that My Identity has been STOLEN from me and used to apply for a credit card from Millinium bank. I called both Milli. and Wachovia to notify them and hopefully recover my $99.95. On the same day of Monday,11/05, I went into the branch and filed and signed a affidative to relieve my money. The bank said they would fax this paper to Milli. Bank that same day and we Later find out that this was done wed., 11/7/07 and that the $99.95 would be back into my account on that thursday morning. After finding out that the money was not in my accnt. that thursday morning and that I had been ridiculously charged a $2. person to person fee on top of that, I called again on friday to find out that My money wont be in my account until Tuesday morning of the 13th(which is today). Still, Nothing in my account, The good thing is that Wachovia did credit me back $140. after charging me $35.00 overdraft fees FOUR TIMES. They think that now, my problem should be resolved, but it's actually an avoided situation on my part. After being told today, and speaking to the Dispute Department, which told me that by This Friday, 11/17/07, My money for $99.95 Should be in my account by that morning at 12/1am . In the mean time, this is where i am being scammed. On top of the $99. I am overdrafted again, another $70.00 for 2 overdraft fees of $35.each. As well, I have a big check that is going strictly to my rent that needs to be paid tomorrow, and I have to cash this and they refused to cash it, that they have to take $72.oo out of my check to cover my fee's. Again the Ridiculous $2 service and the $70. overdraft fee. Which brings me back to the fact that if my $99.95 would've went into my account when to be posted today at 12am, I would only have saw $25.95 of it. This is where they start to scam people and avoid the whole fraud situation and my identity theft. I think that this is very unethical of such a bank that is suppose be there to help protect their customers. On the same day, Today, 11/13/07 I contacted Millinium Bank, which is trying so hard to help us out and give us ways to get back at Wachovia and help get our money back, My Fiance and come to find from that bank, The such lovely of a wachovia bank, never even faxed the form to them like they said they did, so really getting my money back to me by Friday,11/17/07 really isnt happening because wachovia LIED about the fax to the bank. My Fiance, and I threatened Wachovia Bank to getting a lawyer and taking them to court, prior to finding out that they never even faxed anything. Now, the court issue will begin, and i am definitely changing my bank... and its not going to BANK of AMerica(which is another bad bank) This whacked bank has a tendency of Delaying the most important issues as far as customers go... best advice, STAY AWAY FROM WACHOVIA! Its really sad to see this happening after 20 years of service with them... Never saw it coming and I even heard bad news about them for a long time... GUESS I SHOULD LISTEN TO FORMER CUSTOMERS FROM NOW ON.

double billing
Please beaware of Wachovia's illegal overdraft/unavailable funds fee. Yes they charge you twice if your account bounces even if the funds are in the account at the time of purchase. If you make a Visa purchase and you accidentally go over your limit you will be charged a unavailable fee then an overdraft fee. I was charged $140 for accidentally making 3 small purchases under $15. Don't go by their balance of you account because it's wrong 90% of the time.

Applied credit card without my approval
Hi,

I was Wachovia bank customer for about 3 years now. One day a customer representative called me to explain the improvements at Wachovia bank. I asked him to send me the documents and said I will go through them at free time, he agreed and we disconnected the phone. 2 weeks late I get a letter from Wachovia bank stating that the credit card application has been rejected.

I called Wachovia bank and asked them why did they apply for a credit card with out my approval, they said it was a mistake and only thing they can do is remove the inquiry on my credit from the major credit bureau's... and no response from them... every time I call them, they say that they will send an email to representative who is handling the case, and she will get back to me..but still no response.

If this is the case how can we even trust banks...

Stupid hiring managers of Wachovia
Wachovia Bank talks about their excellent customer service But when I applied with them for a Branch Managers position. After 4 interviews I was told I was too outgoing and enthusiastic!!! Have you ever heard of such of thing!! Heaven forbid to have an outgoing, friendly branch manager who wants to help the customers!! I have 30 years of successful management experience, 26yrs with one company and they tell me I am too outgoing and enthusiastic! Give me a break. Probably the real reason is that I am 55 years old but of course they would never say that!!!

Wachovia you just go ahead and keep tooting your horn about your excellent customer service. The branch manager I spent half a day with told me he was an introvert and he had to put on an act when he was at work and he couldn't believe how easily I talked to the customers! But I am too outgoing and friendly to work for Wachovia! Lets just call a spade a spade and say I was too old to fit their mold! Just my two cents!

CD redemption attempt - nobody cares at this bank!
Parents, now deceased, had CD with Wachovia unknown to estate executor/trustee of trust. POA, will, etc. already on file with bank; when account closure requested to estate, bank correctly requested amendment to trust showing successor trustee. Successor trustee was named in notarized copy of amended trust.; faxed immediately to bank with specific request to expedite. Four days after fax, Wachovia then sent letter via snail mail to deceased father (bank had both death certificates) asking that he (who was dead) get his signature notarized naming successor trustee (already named, signed and notarized in amendment to trust supplied to bank). Letter was received 8 days after fax requesting "expedite." Bottom line: nobody cares at this bank. As one of two sons and the 1st successor trustee, I was told that "...Wachovia doesn't have to do business with you, as you are not our customer...". I've initiated a formal complaint with the North Carolina state banking commission. After numerous promised dates have gone by, the bank today told me that the check was sent via overnight mail yesterday; as of 8 pm tonight, the package had not yet been picked up by UPS.

Poor service!
My account has been charged three times the correct amount for an overdraft thanks to a policy by Wachovia to ensure profits through usury disguised as a consumer protection. In light of the amount of money your company handles daily, I trust you will not find my complaint too petty to resolve. Wachovia has unrepentant stolen $70 from my account thanks to an anomaly in the way your corporation chooses to process payments. Rather than in the order in which they were performed, as with cash or any other bank, Wachovia processes charges to an account in the order of highest to lowest.

The most recent transaction on my account should be an ATM withdrawal of $160. I admit that it was made in advance of a check for $170 that was due to clear. I deserve one single overdraft fee of $35. Wachovia acknowledges the financial struggles of its customers by its policy of covering the cost of the first transaction to overdraw, and by offering Overdraft Protection.

This does not however give you license to triple-dip into my account, or warrant having your CSR Natalie Dunn and her service manager Jenica Hobson -- who informed me there is NO "customer satisfaction" at Wachovia -- lecture me on maintaining my register. It is useless to do so if I cannot count on when your bank decides it is convenient enough to process my charges. Commerce Bank across the street from me is capable of doing the math at any hour of any night of the week.

This is clearly an effort by the bank to ensure its profits through its borderline-low balance customers, simply because you likely find them too stupid to dispute the way you do business. It is regretful that your company is too large or your agents too inept to refund $70 of the $105 overdraft fees charged to my account.

$70 back is all I ask. I am not asking for free money, I am asking your bank to steal just slightly less from me. This will bring me closer to the zero-balance I need to close my account due to complete and total dissatisfaction. And this is a win-win for all involved, since every agent I spoke to seemed all too happy to lose my business. Your agents told me that I have already had "courtesy refunds" in the past, but I find no favor in asking for money back that should never have been taken.

I have already removed my bi-weekly payroll from direct deposit into your bank. If you can do nothing to refund $70 of the $105 USURY leveled against me, I will close my account, and you will have one less unsuspecting low-income individual to arbitrarily derive your black ink from. I will have my grandmother, brother, and sister do the same, and I will tell everyone I know of the terrible experience I had in getting a multi-million dollar corporation to refund the less-than $100 it unethically took from me.

If my trust in financial institutions isn't totally shattered by then, I plan to open an account with a small enough community bank that DOES offer "customer satisfaction;" that CAN recognize where its strange policies cause problems for the customer, and that CAN correct them when they do.

People beware!
