International Service Fee
I was viewing my online statement today and came across a fee of $2.61 for something called "Intl Service Fee". I thought it stood for "Internal Service Fee" but when I called Wachovia Customer Service I was told it was an "International Service Fee". When I told the gal on the other end of the phone I hadn't been out of the country or bought anything overseas, she told me it's " a fee for doing a transaction out of your home state." I asked where does the international aspect of this fee come in? It turns out that a fee is attached to some transactions, in this case I had purchased a "cashiers check" for $6800 while on business out of my home state..
of course, I paid $6 or $7 for the cashier's check while at the bank.
As I travel for business across 15 states, this is totally unsatisfactory.
I asked her to rescind the lousy $2.61 but was told it can't be done so I am writing to Wachovia to express my heartfelt words of disgust at this "penny ante" way of doing business, not forgetting to mention that the $0.04 worth of interest I get on my savings each month will win me over, either..
I pulled most of my savings out a few years ago..looks like I need to complete the transaction.

Overdraft Charges
At midnight 7/16/2009 my balance was over 3000.00 because I had a direct deposit to be credited that was already showing on my acct balance. At 8am however I had $140.00 in overdraft charges because I had one check and 3 checkcard purchases go through. Of course they ran the $500.00 check which made my balance (without the direct deposit) to low to over the 3 other smaller charges. BUT I HAD A DIRECT DEPOSIT SITTING THERE OF $2500.00. They knew the money was there!!! They had already shown that money on my balance at midnight!!! I have had this acct for yrs and overdraft was never an issue as long as I had a credit card for them to charge things like this to, but WACHOVIA changed the credit card to Bank of America and I will not open another one(credit card) with Wachovia. THIS IS INSANE and very poor practice. However Wachovia seems to be able to get away with this practice without any difficulty. What can we do short of changing banks?

Took funds out of my account
Wachovia took funds out of my account when I closed the account weeks before hand. They have tried to charge me for NSF charges that are bogus and have even hired a law firm to come after me for money that isn't owed to them. I am not the first person that I have heard of that they are trying to do this to. The law firm they hired is called Sessoms & Rogers out of Durham, NC.

INVASION OF PRIVACY
For all the people that have accounts with Wachovia, and you have a credit card debit taken out every month (going to Wachovia) you might want to pay attention to this. I have 3 credit cards that I have done this way. I have it setup to pay a certain amount every month, Wachovia pays them, I don't have to mess with it. THIS is what I want you to PAY ATTENTION TO. I checked out one of my credit cards and there was a problem. I went back to the top of the page and clicked on HISTORICAL statements. Guess what came up? My Wachovia BANK STATEMENT. I was in shock. I could not believe what I was seeing. My credit card company had NO BUSINESS looking at my bank statement. It looked just like the one I pull up any time I want to including whom I have paid and who has paid me. I called Wachovia and they said they had no control over that. I would have to contact the credit card company.
I had never seen a page or site or whatever it's referred to as that my bank statements were on. All around the page were sites you could go into. It looked like they were selling peoples (my) information. I really don't know. I had to look many hours to find that information. Has anyone else seen this? If anyone know's
what I saw, please contact me. I call it an invasion of my privacy. But, what in the world are these people doing with it? If you know any thing about this, please contact me: [email protected] Thanks, saszy

re: payment without authorization
Did You Know?
Anyone who you send a check to -to make a payment, or whatever, can then access your account and withdraw
money from that account.
I know, it happened to me, and when I questioned how someone could gain access to my account, they told
me they can do it, with your routing and account numbers, which, by the way are on your checks.
BEWARE! (NO ONE IS PROTECTED)

wachovia allowed my girlfriend's roommate to clean out her account
my girlfriend got $27, 000 from social security back pay. the money was set up in a checking and savings account. she was issued a bank check card(atm). the pin was sent seperately. my girlfriend's roommate retrieved the pin # from the mail. she never knew it came. when she checked her statements over $7000 was withdrawn from her accounts. my girlfriend immediately called the police and the bank. she changed her pin and was issued a new card. she got the new card and memorized the pin # then two weeks later she changed it. when she received another statement she had $1800 remaining. she called the police and the bank again. the police said thet wachovia was not cooperating with their investigation and they couldn't arrest her roommate. apparently he goes into her wallet while she was sleeping and hit the atm between 1-4am. she wanted to know how he knew the new pin #. he called the bank and said he was her husband and without any id or verification they gave him the new pin #. he stole over $24, 000 and is still walking the streets, because wachovia would not release statements or cooperate with the police department. it should have been an open and shut case, because all atm machines have video cameras. even though the money is fdic insured. she was not received a penny of the money back and it has been well over a year now. this happened in austin texas and her roommate was a fat ass named david reynolds. if the cops don't find you, i will...

overdraft fees
I am a 25 year old full time worker and full time student, I take great care in my finaces and making sure I do not over draw on my accounts, so how did i end up loosing two weeks pay to wachovia...
I understand how banks work, i understand that if you deposit a check it usually does not clear until the next buisness day however i was under the understanding that depositing cash was automatically available and since my employer also uses wachovia i made what i thought was an intellegent choice and i decided to always cash my paychecks and deposit them as cash so the money would be there as needed. On one particular friday i went to the bank on my break from work when i got there everyone who just recieved their stimulus checks were in line there were 6 0r 7 cars in every line and the inside line was out the door i was forced to leave and return later because i only have a 20 min break from work so i came back at 4 when i was off of work cashed my check and deposited cash to my checking account. i dont like carrying cash on me i choose to use my debit card everywhere i go i feel safer not having any actual cash in my purse so, i spent my weekend as usual went to a ouple different places bought small items and used my card to purchase them. on monday when i went to work i logged online to check my bank statement and to my dismay my account was - 400.00 i thought it was an error i asked my employer if i could run to the bank quick and see what the problem was. when i arrived at the bank they explained to me that even though it was cash i could not use my debit card at a store however i could have taken cash out of the atm and i would have been fine so every little purchase i made that weekend totaling $187.00 took my account from 350 dollars to neg almost 400 dollars i was so embaressed i lost every penny i had and then some not only could i not afford to live the rest of that week i had to beg my employer to advance my next weeks py check to me to cover the overdarft fees so they would not continue to rise everyday i was left with nothing for two weeks and after being a customer with wachovia for a few years they did not offer to waive any of the fees or help in any other way they said coldly and simplely i should have read the fine print better.

overdraft fees are profitable banking
After many overdraft fees($2000+) in the past, I began to watch my account closely and notice when it fell to a low balance
point, Wachovia ALWAYS found a fee to charge to cause an overdraft. So, on May 8, 2009, I went to the branch mgr. and discussed the problems that ocurred while I was out of town April 27-30, 2009, she agreed with me that the fees charged were NOT valid and refunded all $210 of fees that had posted to my account. In doing this she recomended that I open another checking account just for overdraft protection, place $50 in it and forget about it for back up. SO I DID. I already had a savings account for protection, but this would be extra insurance. Well it was NOT enough. On May 21, 2009 I went online to find my account $36 negative, with Wachovia taking $35 OVERDRAFT FEE and $10 OVERDRAFT PROTECTION TRANFER FEE !!! Are you kidding me, Wacovia is now going to charge me $10 to tranfer my money from one account to another ?????? THE ANSWER IS NOT ANYMORE, NOT TO ME ANYWAY !!! I deposited $60 to cover all outstanding debits informed the branch mgr. that when the account was cleared I would be closing it, she asked what she could do to make me happy, I said, they had over 4 years to do that but, just kept taking my moneyand if she wanted to make this time right she could refund my money to me, her reply was " WHY SHOULD I? YOU WILL JUST CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT ANYWAY" my reply was " YES, BUT IT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO AND YOU HAVE TO LIVE WITH THAT"!!

Overdraft fees are a rip off and a scheme!
I was just charged $280 dollars in overdraft fees that I just dont understand. That is 8 individual overdrafts. From what I can see on my acccount it was immpossible for me to do so. Wachovia bank likes to allow purchases on a debit card with insuffient funds just so you can make the money in NSF payments etc... They also like to place certain things on hold (processing) and make it look like it has been deducted from your balance only to finally process it when they can get money in overdrafts! They rip off the customers in todays economy and struggles and I consider it just plain evil and greedy. I am on unemployment and have cancelled my direct deposit to my account so I can feed my family and pay my rent without them taking all my money in bullshit overdraft fees! I will pay this balance if and when I find another job and am able to save up the money. I dont care if they put me in the chex systems! I am also closing my bank account with those crooked ripp offs if I am ever able to pay off the balance of their scheme! Wachovia sucks and their attempt on making me and my family homeless and hungry is sicking!!!

Common Thieves
Wachovia is an evil institution that employs some of the most ignorant dimwits I've come across in years. I had a checking account with Wachovia for the specific purpose of keeping my money separate from the money of an organization that I was affiliated with. I never overdrafted my account, not once. After I parted ways with the organization, I left a balance of $1.15 in the account.
Nine months later I get a statement in the mail that tells me that I am overdrawn by $3.49. It says that I was charged a $5 "dormant account fee". The same day I receive the statement I receive a phone message from Wachovia. I return the call to Wachovia at the number provided and speak to a cordial woman who tells me that she can refund the charges and close my account if I wished. I informed her that I did want to close my account, and she said that she would do that. I heard her clicking away making notes to my account. She also informed me that because of the timing, I would probably receive another statement with another $5 charge shortly before I received a refund check for my original $1.51 balance and a statement showing that all of the fees had been removed and the account had been closed.
Indeed, about a week later, I received a statement showing another $5 dormant account fee and a balance of -$8.49. About 15 days later I get another envelope from Wachovia, but it is neither a check nor a statement reversing the charges. It was a collections notice for a negative balance of -$48.49. It seems that Wachovia charged me an overdraft fee on top of the dormant account fees. Seriously, WHEN did this jacka** bank decide that it was a good business practice to steal customers' money instead of simply issue a check in order to close a dormant account?????
So...I call Wachovia to find out what the problem was - why my account was not closed and refunded as promised. After being switched FIVE TIMES to the wrong department I finally got to a competent human (lamentably without much power) who was able to actually investigate the problem. She agreed that there was indeed a problem, but it was one that she could not fix. I asked to speak to her supervisor, who I refer to the dumbest b***h I've ever had the displeasure to speak to. She told me that I should have taken care of the problem when I first discovered it, and I should just take responsibility for it and cough up the money. "You should have visited a financial center...you should have called customer service..." Hello, B***h?! I just finished telling you that I DID call and I DID take care of it, YOUR bank screwed up, NOT ME!!! Ugh!! I asked to speak to her supervisor. She assured me that there was no one else in the bank who could help me, that she was the final authority in account services. PLEASE!!! I GOT TO YOU IN ONE TRANSER!!! YOU'RE BARELY A SUPERVISOR!!! She told me that there was no record of my having spoken to anyone about my account. After hanging up with her I spoke to someone else at Wachovia who said that they COULD see the call.
Anywho, I filed a dispute at the collection agency (which the bank refers to as their "recovery department") and was told that I would receive a resolution within 30 days in the mail. It's been about 2 months and I've received no resolution, but I have received a collections notice from a brand-spanking new collections agency!
These a$$holes are going down. I've not yet figured out how, but trust me, they WILL refund my money and stop this collections bull$hit. This is not the first company that's tried to screw me.
