Wachovia Bank Reviews

Thieves
In December of 2008, I received a call from a representative of Wachovia Bank. They asked if I would write a post dated check to pay for a payment which was behind by 15 days. I told her that I would mail the payment on the 1st of the month to bring the payment current and did not have the money in the account. The sent a request for the payment to my bank without authorization and caused me considerable fees for nsf, which I had already told them prior to them stealing the money out of my account. Prior to me seeing my statement I sent them the payment as promised. Now they are holding 2 payments and I have fees that should have never been charged. Is there a class action suit available and who is the regulatory agency responsible for these thieves. Wachovia Bank is Gangster!

Awful bank
Tuesday December 30, 2008 I made a cash deposit in person at my branch. Wednesday December 31, 2008 my check card was declined when I swiped it to make a purchase. Wachovia regularly mishandles deposits and is quick to dodge responsibility.

The first time this happened was April 2008 and I blamed the branch. I've had the same thing happen three times since. I've spent countless hours on the phone with Wachovia and countless hours paper trailing things Wachovia could not figure out for themselves. I should be punching a time clock and getting paid for this!

Please see attachments relating to the most recent incident.

Overcharged
From November 17-November 20th I was charged 8, yes 8, $35 fees for NSF and overdraft fees. They refused to send through a $90 payment and that company was allowed to continue to try and put the payment through resulting in the fees. Last month they allowed an $1300 check to go through when all the funds weren't but were there resulting in one overdraft fee. I was fine with that. They obviously knew I had my paycheck being direct deposited and knew they would get ther $200 plus the $35 fee.

When I asked why they let the $1300 payment go through and not this one for only $90 the response was, 'If we know a check is for a mortgage or something important like that we will go ahead and send it through'.

Again I asked why they sent there 8-$35 charges through and not the $90 through and the response was, 'You should have contacted the company and told them to stop sending it though.' I said, ' you should have refused the payment once and stop letting it through and charging my account everytime you reject it.'

She was not effected and said it was not a banking error. I let her know that here company was stealing my money and that my daughter's tuition money was taken by them and got no reaction other than the same canned statement about policies.

She cared more about reading me the policies about what I signed when I agreed to ank with them rather that see the big picture...8 fees in three days for 1 transaction being denied over and over is STEALING!!!

Anyone out there who wants to get their money back and get a Lawyer, I'm in!!!

Mortgage
Connie Walker, Mortgage broker, New Port Richey, Pasco County

expected us to close on a house today with wrong information on the HUD statement that she hadn't looked at until closing. Tried to get us to sign with wrong homeowner's insurance amount ( I confirmed with agent that she had the correct amount of $580, not $1, 370 in plenty of time) and tried to get us to pay $1, 120 in points that were to be waived.

She said "I'll fix it later". We said no, get it right. We are supposed to close on Tuesday at 2p.m. We are letting EVERYONE know what she tried and how she messed up our closing and move. Please tell us who to complain to! We are stuck with Wachovia because we have to close by 12/19.

Absolutely horrible
Wachovia bank which is by bank currently until the rest of my checks are cleared will no longer be my bank of choice. I received $140.00 worth of overdraft fees. I made three purchases with my debit card from Monday-Wednesday. All these purchases were under $40.00. The purchase totaled about $30.00, which would of left me with a $10.00 balance. I was getting a direct deposit on Friday, which was good so I wasn't worried. I wrote a check and send it out and unfortunately it cleared on Friday. I take responsibility for that. I did not think it would of cleared since I sent it out on Thursday. Wachovia had the three prior purchases pending, but they did not clear them from my total balance, for a reason I don't understand. However when the check for $173.00 cleared so did the other three purchases. Wachovia cleared the 173.00 first and then the other three. The say that is their policy which is very Ridiculous! You clear the highest amount first to benefit your company, but what about your customers and what is that saying about Customer Satisfaction. This company is saying they really don't care about you as long as they get your money and then some. So that left me with 4 overdraft charges which are $35.00 each. I called the 1-800-WACHOVIA number and talked to them telling them that the three prior purchases were made earlier in the week and why did they only process them after the check cleared. No answers that made any sense or showed me that they cared even the slightest was given to me. Be warned this bank is unbelievable and they are absolutely horrible.

Harrassing Phone Calls
Approximately two months ago, I began receiving phone calls - sometimes twice a day - from Wachovia asking for someone I did not know. They were told that I was not the person they were seeking, and I was assured that my phone number would be deleted from their list.

Yesterday, these phone calls started up again asking for the same person as before. I have been called twice today. I returned the call and told them I was not the person they wanted, and that I did not know this person. And once again I was assured that my phone number would be deleted. What else can I do to stop these phone calls?

Inability to maintain owned property.
Wachovia owns property next to my church. The grass and weeds are at a minimum 5 to 6 ft. high. This property is only 4 or 5 ft. away from the church building. This unattended property is drawing rats and other vermin to this property. We have children and elderly people attending our services and it would be sinful if someone were to be injured by creatures there.
I do not know how much you are asking for this property; however, if it were within reason perhaps we could buy the property from your organization. The house is run down and our church would tear it down and then it woould be maintained effectively.
Please assist with this problem.
Sincerely,
J. A. Springborn

Bad service
On July 26th of this year, I called the Wachovia Bank by my house to ask if they would cash the check I received from my insurance company for car repairs. They told me to do the following: take the car to the dealer to get it repaired, then go to the bank, they would have me fill out a form and it would be signed over to the dealer so the repairs can be paid for. I go to Wachovia Bank near my house on Aug 9, 2008. I speak to a person and he gives me the phone # to Wachovia Dealer Services. I call Wachovia Dealer Services. They tell me to mail the check to their office in California and they would sign it over. I live in Colorado. My car repairs are finished and the car ready to be picked up. I don't want to wait a week for a person out of state to sign over my check to the car dealer. My Mom then calls Wachovia Bank today, Aug 9, 2008. She is told the same thing I was told yesterday. That I would have to get it signed over by Dealer Services. Not from the bank itself. So within the course of 2 weeks, Wachovia Bank reversed their policy. We asked to speak to a manager. We ended up speaking o a manager and the manager at the bank told us the same thing. If I was told I would have to go to the Dealer Services originally, I would not have taken the car to the dealer yet. The only possible bright side is that there is a Dealer Services office in my state. Unfortunately it is about a 50 mile drive to and from there. Because of the inconsistency, I would never open up an account with Wachovia and I would not recommend people do either.

Awful bank
I'm a 76 year old widow, living on a monthly disability check. I have been receiving overdraft notices from Wachovia Bank, at times on a daily basis. First came a fee of $55.00 and then it changed to $90.00. That seemed a bit high. According to my records I didn't owe them any overdraft fees. In fact my records showed that I had a small balance.

Then came the shocker: a letter stating, 'According to our records, your account is overdrawn in the amount of $354.91 as of September 17, 2008.' That is not only ridiculous, it's impossible.

The stress this is causing me keeps building and I plan to switch to another bank as soon as possible.

Overcharged
I can't believe the insane fees that Wachovia has charged to my account. Judging from all the reports I've been reading Wachovia has made a big pile of money by charging excessive NSF fees. In less than 24 hours my account went from a positive balance to being overdrawn by almost $300!

Upon closer examination I've discovered that this past year alone they have charged me upwards of $2000 in fees. I'm not rich and I don't have the kind of money it takes to withstand blows like that. Now I'm down to do I pay the light bill or do I buy groceries for the kids?

The government is up there in Washington sending the banks these large sums of money in a bailout. I'm sure that Wachovia will be getting their share of money from Uncle Sam. Unfortunately I'm on my own in this - there is nobody to bail me out. This most recent charge of $350 in NSF fees was as a result of a transfer that Wachovia made from my checking to my savings. I was unaware that the transfer was going to be made or had been made until the damage was done.

Believe me when I say that I am totally through with Wachovia. I've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau as well. I plan on closing my accounts with Wachovia as soon as I possibly can. I will never again do business with them under any circumstances. The only reason I really need a bank is because my employer requires direct deposit. Once I get away from Wachovia I will be very careful about how I do business with a bank again. I'm sure I can find a way to satisfy the direct deposit requirement from my employer and still use a bank as little as I possibly can.
