On several visits to this particular branch my husband and/or I have experienced prejiditial treatment from the clerk or customer service personat the from counter. On one occasion Iwent to cash a check that was made out to me and cut from Wachovia for the amount of $300.00. I gave my ID and was asked by the customer service person why I was cashing a check in shelton when I lived in Hamden. This line of questioning had nothing to do with the transaction. She only asked me that becasue Shelton is a predominately White city but I just happen to workin the city and I am black. That question should have never been asked and she did not want to cash the check but I was persistant and she could not given me a clear reason as to why she wouldn't cash it. One another occassion myhusband who is a retired police officer went to cash his pay check from his new job for the City of Bridgeport and they did not want to cash it even though we have two direct deposits in Wachovia that total over $4500 per month. and the clerk said to my husband and I how do I know that this is a good check I will have to deposit it and wait several days to see if it clears. Keep in mind that this is a Payroll check from the largest city in the state and the city next to Shelton in which many of the Police officers live. But we were loud talked and told depending on you account history we may not cash the check with other customers listening. We have cashed his check on numberous occasions at several other Wachovia branches with no problem and know question we were just leaving my job around the corner in Shelton and want to do it there. We were treated like we stoled something and they were very demeaning. My husband has served the community for over 27 1/2years as a police officer and is now serving again as a supervisor of the 911 hub in Bridgeport and should be treated equally not like we are some substandard human being who does not deserve to be treated equally because we are black. This is 2010 waked up people! green is green
