Steals from People
I try to be as careful as possible with my checking account, so I check my transactions everyday online. Thursday I had $7 in my account, everything was processed, so there would be no surprise charges because I have not been making any purchases to overdraw me. The next day I look at my online account and I owed them $217 dollars! I was outraged how do I go from $7 to negative $217 overnight without making any purchases. I review my transactions, everything that was already processed was arranged in a way so it would overdraw. A charge of $50 from 15 days ago that was already processed was moved to a later date so it would overdraw. A charge from that same company of $135 made 12 days ago was left intact in its original date. I call the bank and ask them to fix this, they gave me the bullshit run around, one guy even told me to write down all my transactions, yeah that makes sense, basically hes telling me his online banking is unreliable. I understand gas and credit card charges, and tips at restaurants don't show up sometimes, I'm aware of that, I mentally keep track of them so I don't overdraw, but this was a charge that was already processed 15 days ago and conveniently moved to a much later date. Had that same company not made a $135 charge 3 days later that posted correctly, maybe I could agree with them. They even admitted to this not being my fault and returned $44, but I still owed $173 dollars. I work part time and I'm a student, thats a lot of money for me which I'm losing for something completely out of my hands. I have no problem with overdraft fees, that is the price we pay for free checking, but these charges were not my fault. These banks are ridiculous, stealing and lying to people. They could at least put a big banner on their website warning: "Completely unreliable system, please write down all your transactions", that would be the honest thing to do.
