BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
I was 2 months behind in my loan and constantly harrassed by phone, mail, etc.. I like my car and wanted to pay, but was in a temporary financial setback. My husband lost his job and we had to move to another state but had a mortgage on our home in the state we moved from also. On top of that, we had a "tenant" that not only didn't pay us, but damaged our home and we had to evict him.

I explained this to the loan officer but kept getting the calls - they even called my mother-in-law to discuss this which, I know, is against the law (personal information violation).

One phone call last month I spoke to a "supervisor" who said I could not discuss the loan with the other nice lady I had been working with as it had escalated to her level. I advised that I would make a payment in the next couple of days and she said that was not good enough - they would not accept it - I would have to make two payments. She was condescending, rude and demeaning. I was so upset after our half hour call that I almost went to the doctor.

About a week later, my husband got a call and discussed an arrangement with one of the "nice" ladies we talked with prior to my discussion with the so called supervisor (I doubt she really was). She asked if he could make one payment by Nov 9th. He said he'd try but most likely could not pay until the 16th.

They sent a tow truck on the 13th claiming we breeched our agreement!!! I had the money to make a payment and planned on making it that day and my husband's unemployment check was coming on the 16th, which we planned to make the other payment and catch up! THEY WOULDN'T ACCEPT THE PAYMENT AND TOWED OUR CAR. HOW LAME IS THAT?!!! And if we want our car back, we will also have to pay the tow charge of over $375! RIDICULOUS!

In this economic climate, I don't see how this kind of treatment is beneficial to anyone!

to get a payoff quote on car loan with 2 late payments on the record had to go to 1 hour conversation with so caled customer representative, had to listed for first 15 minutes about how my life supposed to be organized before I was able to said anything. Extreme rudness, didn't get the last name of representative and didn't even get the last name of her supervisor. The answer was "no, first name is enough, there is only one Regina here" I've recorded that conversation and will keep doing that every time I call, thinking of a lowsuit. I sugest to do the same.

Bad Customer Service
Every complaint about Wachovia Dealer is true and people I'm with you, heres my story, when I agreed to this loan, I was told that I could make three deferments on the life of this loan. On christmas eve last year my wife became very ill and I had lost my job, wachovia constantly kept harassing me for the payment and when I requested for the deferment they denied me, but some how came up with the payment, unfortunately there were late charges and interest that total another car payment, every month that I sent in a payment I would still be one payment behind. Now my wife is not working and have rent to pay plus utilities and no negtiating with Wachovia. Until now I just gave up with this bank, I filled for bankruptcy and let the repo man take the car, so without further adue "Kiss my Ass! Wachovia Dealer!!! hahahahahahah" and for those who say I was wrong for not keeping up with the terms screw you!!! atleast I'm not in debt!!!... Credit is a government plot to screw you!!!

I just suffered the ignominy of watching my family minivan be repossessed. Yes, we had suffered financial downturns and yes we were behind in our payments. However, when trouble first started brewing on the horizon, I attempted to negotiate some sort of alternate arrangements with Wachovia to get through the rough patch. EVERY representative I spoke to was curt, dismissive, and essentially gave me the "pay everything or else" message. When I told one particularly rude representative that his tactics and tone were insuring that I would never do business with Wachovia again, his response was "Well, with your payment history, we wouldn't WANT you as a customer." (Of course this was after soaking us with a 15% used car loan!)

Funny, but when my WIFE called a few days later, she was given some latitude and we were able to make a couple of partial payments until another financial downturn.

Finally I had to send a cease-and-desist order because they were calling us 8 - 10/day from 8 AM - 9 PM.
A recent NY Times article highlighted that -- much like doctors who admit mistakes are less likely to be sued -- when financial companies who treat their customers with a modicum of respect and understanding generally have been able to recoup 90% of overdue debts as opposed to the 40 - 45% recovery for the "hard-ass" collection agencies.

The rep I spoke to as the repo man was hooking up the car said "Once you sent us the cease-and-desist order" we couldn't talk to you anymore -- which is a blatant lie. The law says they then have to stop CALLING (which they did cut back, but did not stop) and must use WRITTEN CORRESPONDENCE, which they did not.

If a utility company can send you a statement in an envelope with a red stripe to alert you to an overdue account, why can't a multi-billion dollar bank (a recipient of TARP funds, no less!)

Finally, to add insult to injury the repo man informed my that Wachovia is BRUTAL in their tactics. When I said to him that my family was stressed to the point of contemplating telling Wachovia to TAKE the car because they would likely get $5, 000 on the $11, 000 note we owe. The repo guy then added, "Yeah, but then they'll go after your house" -- to make sure they make a killer PROFIT. Not a reasonable value for the vehicle but the sheer (high) interest profit.

I have paid a car loan for over 18 months of $375 a month without ever being late. (36 month loan)

Recently after Ankle surgery where I would be out of work for 3 weeks with no pay, I called to see about getting a defferal ($25 fee and that payment is moved and not paid until end of loan). Having never even been a single day late on payments I would have thought this would be a no brainer. I didn't realize that THEY were the "no brainers".

I was told by Wachovia Dealer Services, that since I was on a "medical leave" and had no guaranteed income (thus the NEED for the deferral) that I was unable to get a deferral. Their reason was that they had no way to guarantee that I would have any income. The fact that my job is guananteed by FLMA didn't matter to them at all.

They said "when you go back to work" call and ask again.

REALLY? So, when I'm back at work and no longer need the deferral, ask about a deferral? This is their way to avoid ANY deferrals. I can guarantee that if I call and say I am back at work and need a deferral, their reasoning will be that I no longer need financial assistance and I'll be turned down again.

On a side note, I called another bank with another loan that is local to me and they said "We would be GLAD to give you a deferral" and suggested I talk to them about ref-nancing my car to their bank.

I would suggest everyone uses a local bank for their car loans. Wachovia Dealer Services will never be a lender of mine once I get my car re-financed to my other bank.

Scam and cheating
I purchase a vehicle through Wittmeier auto in Chico. It was financed through Wachovia Dealer services. I have repeatedly sent them my Insurance information. I received a letter in the mail saying my registration would be revoked so I sent a copy of my insurance card to dmv, then faxed a copy to their insurance services known as Balboa Insurance center. I then received a phone call from one of their employees that left a message on my answering machine responding to my outgoing message that I'm not available at this time saying something unintelligible then your such a umph implying another word. I feel this is very unprofessional behavior and the company doesn't seem to care. I also know of other people having the same problem with this proof of insurance issue .

It seems to me they're trying to force people to add on their insurance to vehicles that are already insured.

Terribly rude service
After being unemployed for over 5 months, I managed to be only two months behind on my payments
On 11 September 2009, I sent a Western Union Quick Collect to Wachovia Dealer Services in the amount of $1745.86. MTCN: 184-528-2375, to bring the account current
On 14 September 2009 I received a call from Mr. Johnson of Wachovia Dealer Services (collections division?) informing me that the payment I sent was not received and that he was sending someone to “get the vehicle” I informed him that I did indeed make the payment via Western Union and that I did not understand why he did not receive it. He stated in an extremely rude tone that he checked the system for loan number, amount, and MTCN number and did not find it. He went on to insinuate (in an extremely rude tone) that I either did not make the payment or I deliberately supplied the Wachovia Dealer associate with a false number.
At this point I interrupted him and asked him point blank if he was suggesting that I was lying about sending the payment and informed him that I did not like the way he was speaking to me. He did not respond to the question, but repeatedly (at least 8-10 times) shouted at me “DON’T’ TELL ME HOW TO DO MY JOB” I shouted back “I’m not telling you how to do your job”, I telling you not to talk to me like this. I then lost my composure and swore at him and told him I wanted to speak to his supervisor. He promptly hung up. I called back and an associate answered and I asked to be connected to a supervisor and was put through to Mr. Johnson again. I asked Mr. Johnson if I could speak with his supervisor and he said “I am it, every time you call here you are going to be put through to me. He also stated “don’t bother calling back I have already sent the order for the vehicle to be repossessed”, and then promptly hung up.
The issue that I had with Mr. Johnson was that he was extremely rude, and despite him repeatedly telling me not to tell him how to do his job, I feel if he was doing his job properly he would have asked me to fax the Western Union customer receipt as proof. Never at any time did he ask for it. He gave me the impression he was determined to repossess the car, regardless of the facts.

In attempt to resolve the situation I called Michelle. Michelle had been assigned the account and I had been in regular communication with her in an attempt to bring the account to date. (I was unemployed from Feb – August 2009) Michelle informed me that she had been pulled off the account and that it had been reassigned to someone else. (Bridget) I told Michelle about the incident with Mr. Johnson and asked to be connected to his supervisor. Michelle told me that Mr. Johnson’s supervisor was not in the office today, however she gave me the number of another supervisor who was on duty. She then connected me with Bridget, who asked me to fax the Western Union receipt.
I then called the number Michelle gave me to speak with the supervisor on duty. I cannot recall his name. I described the incident that I had with Mr. Johnson and was met with silence. I asked him did he hear what I said and he replied “the reason that you are talking to me now is because you did not meet your responsibilities and that if I had made my payments like I was supposed to this would not be an issue. He also went on to provide unwarranted “sound” financial advice such as, I should call Western Union and get my $1745.86 back and buy a car I can afford. I told him that I did not call him for financial advice; rather I was calling to file a complaint about Mr. Johnson’s behavior. He did not stop there. He proceeded to admonish me for being financially irresponsible, for not being a man and not living up to my responsibilities. As an example he referenced two late payments on the account from November and December of 2008. He went on to state “I assume you are an educated person, you should know better” I asked him “how can you say these things to me? You don’t know me or my financial situation and its totally inappropriate for you to been making such statements to me. He promptly hung up.
Mr. Johnson’s and the un-named supervisor statements lead me to believe that their goal is to reclaim the vehicle, regardless of my attempts to bring the account current.

Illegal repo
First in 2007 I was unemployed for 2 months. When I bought my car, I was told several times I had the unemployment coverage on my loan.

However, when the fatal day came that I was unemployed; I was told by Wachovia Dealer Services that I was not eligible for the unemployment coverage on my loan.
This was a year after I had the loan…

Once I became employed once again, I paid everything and got the payments caught up and then personally talked to Wachovia Dealer Services and requested a payment due date change.

They told me I was eligible to change my date once. I told her with the new job and schedule of pay days that I did need to change the date from the 9th of each month to the 15th of each month. When we terminated that phone call I was under the impression that my payment date was changed.

However, a year later, I got ready for work as usual and went outside and my car was gone. Wachovia Dealer Services reported to the police that they were going to repo my car.

After the car was repo I get a letter from Wachovia Dealer Services stating that they were going to strictly enforce the payment date since I had been late every month for 1 year.

They also billed me a late fee and claim I was 1200 dollars past due in my payments.

Of course the day and time they repo the car was right before I was suppose to report to work and I had to miss work because of the errors of Wachovia Dealer Services.

I don’t know why Im posting any of this here. Other than to vent right now and to warn people to stay away from these rip off artists. They have the worst business practices of any company I have ever dealt with.

Rant
Okay, I have read several of the posts regarding Wachovia and I have to disagree. It seems like everyone that has a complaint are also past due on their loan. So, you should ask yourself why are you getting upset when YOU are not complying with the terms that you agreed to? AND, they are waiting until 50+ days PAST due to start bothering you about where your payment is?

It makes me sick reading all these posts! I have been a Wachovia customer for over 3 years and just refinanced my loan AND my other loan through another company with Wachovia.

I guess the difference between me and you is that I pay my loans on time and am dependable, therefore when I need assistance from Wachovia they are more than happy to assist me.

Pay your bills on time and you would have a LOT less to Bitch about!

Violates FDCPA
I lost my job in February of 2009. I contacted Wachovia Dealer Services regarding my auto loan with them and asked if they would be able to offer a defered or reduced payment plan with I was unemployed. First off, they said no. They only offer defered payments to people who are employed. Wouldn't it make more sense to offer some relief to people who are UNemployed? If I had a job and was making money I wouldn't need help! However, they did allow my account to go past due 30-60 days as long as I gave them dates and amounts that I could pay in the future. I thought all was well. On 08/25/2009 I made payment and was about a week and a half away from being completely up to date on my payments. Two days later I received a call from their "legal" department. They man on the phone would not give me his name and his voice was quite unique and I recognized it from an earlier conversation I had with someone in their collections department. He told me that Wachovia had reported the vehicle as stolen from the bank (which is not legally possible, because I am the registered owner) and that the local sheriff would be serving me with a warrant and would seize the car. He told me that I needed to pay up immediately to avoid this from happening. I don't have the money, but I will in about a week and half. He said I could take my chances if I wanted to wait that long. So I called the local sheriff and they said that there was nothing in the statewide system that showed anything of that nature and that I (the registered owner) is the only person who they would take a stolen auto report from. I have since reported Wachovia Dealer Services to the FTC for violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Once my account is current I will be contacting an attorney to seek damages for their violation of the FDCPA.

If you are contacted by someone from Wachovia Dealer Services claiming they are from their "legal" department it is a lie. If they leave you a message with an '888' number to call back on, do not. Call them back on the '252' number that they called you on. It is a direct line to collections. They will answer the phone with only, "hello, " but if you ask them which department you have reached they will tell you collections. There is no legal department. It is just a scare tactic to get you to pay up sooner. I almost borrowed money from family to pay this off and I wouldn't be able to pay my family back any time soon either. They will stop at nothing to get their money. They will even break their own word on arrangements you have made with them.

My credit is bad, but I am desperately seeking another bank that will allow me to transfer my loan to them. I would never in my life want to get a loan from this company again. If you already have a loan or are considering a loan with them think otherwise.

They are disgusting people and took bail out money so that can continue to screw the consumer.
