overdraft fees
I have recently been faced with unjustified overdraft charges to my account. It is no question that I had the money available and the bank has given me bogus reasons for these charges, citing its the way the vendors hold items, and the number of days it takes to recieve approval ect... In my opinion the vendor should have no bearing on this, if the money is available. If I make a mistake I am more than willing to be accountable but this is not the case. These practices are unethical and I am seeking those with similar experiences to share there stories as well, so something can be done. Wachovia has taken millions of dollars in fees from consumers and it is time that we fight back.

Ridiculous overdraft fees
I'm curious if you've ever done a story on Wachovia scamming its customers with ridiculous overdraft fees. I check my acct. daily and tonight I found my account $-224.23 with another $70 in fees not yet posted. $210 were in overdraft fees. They process transactions using a method to get people to overdraw their accts. I work parttime and go to school so when I get paid Friday 5/8 out of approx. $350 net pay, I'll only have about $55 for the next 2 weeks to live off. Something has to be done and I want all of SC to be aware of this bank's practices.

Closed Account
A rep said she would put "a hold" on my checking account because of fraudulent activity, but she never did. The main fraud department called me 10 days later to say my account was still fully accessible, and that nothing had been done by the branch I spent 2 hours in. The branch then closed my account without my knowledge so I bounced 20 checks included mortgage, credit cards, etc. When I called the bank to have them help resolve the problem and take care of all the returned check fees and late payment penalties, the manager said she was very busy that day and would try and call me back. I have now been working on this for days, and have been working on the fraud issue for almost six weeks and no one there cares, or has any idea what they are doing. This bank is terrible.

Fees
I wanted to take a moment to write and express my great disappointment in the Wachovia's customer service and handling of unavailable funds charges & deposit holds. I have had several banks in my lifetime and like most people have had issues from time to time but never have I been so outraged or disgusted by one as I am in Wachovia. I have also filed a complaint with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to try and prompt a Congressional investigation and I hope others will follow my lead. I am have repeatedly been charged fees for items that were paid for with my debit visa card and the funds were there and immediately taken out of my available balance. Their processing of transactions is handled to make the most money they can and in no way for the benefit of their customers. This past weekend we went away and as always I lived via my debit visa card and as always the funds were there and immediately taken out of my available balance. My fault but I completely forgot about an car insurance payment that was to hit on Monday. Wachovia decided to pay the car insurance payment even though the funds were not in my available balance and charge my $490 in fees for all my transactions from over the weekend. I spoke to customer service and asked for them to explain to me why if the available funds were not there to cover the car insurance payment would they pay it and not simply return it and charge me the $35 fee and then I would never have been charged the $490 in fees. heir response was because I was a valued customer!!! Are they kidding with that????? They also gave me back their customary 20% of fees back, what a gift. I highly suggest everyone run not walk away from this bank and open an account anywhere else. I am sure the devil has a better bank available in hell.

poor service
A court order was issused aug 2008(last year) to have child support deducted from Wachovia account 1) it took 3 months and lots of persistance to get Wachovia to start deductions.. 2) have had to "remind" them to make deduction every other month since.. 3) Wachovia is now "claiming" not to have a court order and has STOPPED deductions from my account... 4) Ohio child support says its the banks problem (agreed) Wachovia claims its Child support agency problem... 5) getting NO HELP from either... 6) does this make me a "deadbeat dad" and can I file suit for non-feasence?

fees
Wachovia bank accepted a garnishment of my bank account without notice to me and charged $50. The garnishment had to be lifted due to the fact that my bank account cannot be garnished, because I receive only disability as an income. Even though the garnishment was lifted, the bank refuses to credit the $50 back to my account.

Overcharged
I paid 165.00 to an A/C repairman on 5/15/2009 using my debit card. Later that day I checked my account and the charge had posted to the account. It was not listed as a hold, it was shown as a finalized transaction in the account. The 165.00 was deducted from my balance. A week later, I got a call from the repairman. He said he never received the payment. He didn't know how this was possible because he had swiped my ATM card, it was approved, and he had the receipt showing this. He thought I had put a stop-payment on the charge. I had not done anything, so I checked my account and sure enough the charge was completely gone. I checked the holds and the account transactions, it was not there. We both figured it must have been a mistake, so I wrote him a check dated 5/29/2009 on the 21st. I post-dated the check due to some essential payments I had to make. The A/C man was fine with this.
My account balance did not drop below 165.00 until 5/26/2009. I knew the check was dated 5/29/2009, so I went ahead and payed my rent because direct deposit would go through to cover the check to the A/C man on the 28th. Then as soon as the balance dropped below 165.00, the fist thing in the morning on the 27th, this debit card purchase that had been completely gone for 12 days showed back up out of nowhere and overdrew my account. I was charged 35.00 for a NSF fee.
How in the world can something be invisible from me and the merchant for 12 days, and then magically appear as soon as there were not funds to cover it??? This reeks of fraud. The overdraft sent my account into a tailspin. I budget very carefully. The balance being 200.00 less than it should be is extraordinarily difficult for me to repair.
I called the 1800 number, and the csr stuttered and tried to figure it out, finally giving me the explanation that holds are 'not visible' to my online account information after 3 days. The charge has never a hold! It went straight to the finalized transaction list, then went away for no reason. I am going to the branch now to attempt to get my 35.00 back, as well as a few other fees that this fraudulent act caused. If my account isn't credited, the account will be closed. I opened a Bank of America account this morning. NO EXCUSE for this.

Unfair overdraft fees
Wachovia opened a checking account for my 18 year old on his birthday, he was still in High School. They provided him no education on how to manage an account. While I tried to cover that basis at home, he was in a period of rebellion and would not listen to me- very common for those of you that have teens. They approved debit transactions when there was no money in the account so they could rake in their fees. He had no money to make good on the account and ignored their incessant calls. Finally he received graduation money from his grandparents and cleared his debt and had some extra money in the account. There he goes again, overdrafting over $400- why would Wachovia approve these transactions??? They never checked on his ability or stability to pay- he has no job- and he received no education on how to manage an account- this is predatory, and taking advantage of young students just so they can collect their damn fees. Good luck Wachovia- this is going to the OCC, BBB, and our senators to get it in front of Obama- yes he just focused legislation more towards credit cards- YOU ARE NEXT.

Student Credit Cards
Here we have a college student, 20 years old, 4.0 grade average, has kept the same part -time job since he was 16, as well as the same checking account with Wachovia (never overdrawn)...decides it is time to get some credit established. What better way than to apply with his own bank & take advantage of their College Visa Credit Card (which, by the way, states 'YOUR COLLEGE YEARS ARE THE PERFECT TIME TO ESTABLISH CREDIT', only to be denied because he HAS NO CREDIT! Gee, thanks Wachovia!

INTL CHARGES ON ACCOUNT
has anyone else been getting charges for a charge called INTL..
It happened a few months ago, and when I spoke, or emailed Wachovia, they said they didnt know, so they credited it back to me.
Now, at that time, it was only for something like 99 cents.
But, how many clients does Wachovia have??? 99 cents x's all the customers, or even half, would amount up to quite a bit of money.
I wonder who is watching the store.
we need to start actions against every company we find doing dishonest deals. there are quite a few attorneys out there that would love to help out if they got their cut.
I am saying this, because I havent charged anything to the INTL company, and they cant tell me. so does that tell you there is a fly in the ointment.>>>
