For years, I have had the cashiers at the Evergreen, CO Walmart store haggle me over my coupons. Let me first say that my purpose in using manufacturer coupons is as a means to legitimately save money...I am very careful to make sure that I buy the appropriate products and follow the conditions listed on the coupon (product sizes, quantities, etc).
However, almost every time I checkout, I am forced to dig items out of my cart as "proof" that I have bought the item on the coupon.
I've been irritated about this for a long time, but it all came to a head a few days ago, when the cashier denied a manufacturer's coupon for $1.00 off Bisquick. It was a coupon that I printed off the Bettycrocker.com site and was perfectly legitimate. The cashier said they no longer accept coupons printed out from the Internet. When I inquired why that was, she stated that they weren't reimbursed for them. So is Walmart claiming that Betty Crocker doesn't honor their own coupons???
I'm fed up. Walmart, you've lost the business of someone who has been a faithful customer for 9 years and spends an average of $100/week at your store. Enough is enough! While your prices may be lower than your competition a handful of times, I can still save just as much money by purchasing most of my necessities at the local King Soopers, who has ALWAYS honored my coupons and even doubles them up to .50 cents.
