This happened about 2 years ago but only NOW can I bring myself to talk/write about it without screaming. We had borrowed a digital camera from our friend so that we could capture our only child's first year. One day our friend ask for the camera back because she was going on a trip the next day.So the night before(pass 9pm) we went to WalMart hoping to save the photos on a disc. However, the machines for saving photos to a disc were out of order(even the Kodak kiosk). The clerk advised that we could use the Fuji kiosk to do a 1 day service. So we did.
The next morning a WalMart clerk calls me asking if I still wanted all 600 photos(around that number) printed and I said "yes" also asking her to confirm that my "order" was received. The clerk answered "yes." Hearing the clerk confirm that the order was in place, I erased the memory card because I needed to return it to my friend that afternoon.
We could not pick up the pictures the next day so I went 2 days later in the evening. When I went to get my pictures I was informed by the clerk that they did not have any record of my order.I became upset and gave the name of the clerk that had called me the day before. The clerk ensured me that they would call Fuji the next day to track my order.
I got no calls the next day so I called WalMart. I was informed that WalMart had the negatives(those picture CD proofs) and that I could order on their website and was given an order number.I did as told but could not retrieve my photos.
I went to WalMart later that day and then I was informed that WalMart had a problem with the Fuji kiosks so my order was lost and that WalMart had only those Picture CD proofs.I CRIED!!!
All photos of our child during his first year were LOST!All I had was those postcard size negatives with those tiny photos.I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!!!
I complained to the store manager in amazement on how digital photos can get lost in this high tech world. I could not believe that WalMart had the Picture CD proofs but could not develop my photos.
In turn the store manager offered a discount on my next photo developing order! How cheap!!!
Even after calling Fuji's area manager I had no satisfying answer. My pictures were simply LOST to them.I am not looking to get anything free from WalMart and Fuji but how can two big companies just loose pictures AFTER a clerk confirmed that the order was received???!!!?????
No compensation can buy those lost precious photos of our child's first steps, first trip to the zoo, etc!!!
If only we had the money then to buy our own camera and/or memory card...
I still cannot believe that after loosing those precious photos all I was offered was a discount of a couple cents per picture on my next transaction!!! WalMart and Fuji seemed so heartless in there error!!!
