I am dealing with a nightmare collection right now. GE Collections started calling my home regarding an attempt to collect a debt. They spoke to my husband who told them I don't have a Walmart card (which was the supposed debt). They actually laughed and said "another married couple who doesn't know what the other is doing". My husband then told them I have never had a Walmart card, in fact we have no credit cards. They then verified that the last four digits of my social security number did not match the social security number they have on record. My husband then hung up. I next received a call at my place of employment. This call took place in front of my boss and was very embarrassing. I then explained (loudly) that they had already been told that this was not my card and had verified that the social does not match. The lady then asked me to give her the last 4 digits of my social which I did. At that point she started to say, "I apologize" and I cut her off by telling her that she would be sorry if I got another phone call on a debt which wasn't mine. I also said if another call came in, I would have that persons job. So far, so good. But their heavy handed technique is quite unreasonable and they should be forced to make sure that they are contacting the right person. Shame on you GE Collections!!!
