I have a big bone to pick with Washington Mutual, here is the complaint. I had a boat and boat trailer loan with WAMU since 2000 and I just paid the balance of the loan off. All went well until I received the finial paperwork, no title for the boat trailer. I called the branch that I bank with and they gave me the runaround. I was told that they couldn't help me I needed to call the main costumer service center. I called and was told that WAMU never had a title for the trailer, just the boat. I asked to have this researched by WAMU and the same answer came back no title for the trailer and they had never had one. I asked the service center to check with Oregon DMV to make sure that they were not a lien holder on the title. I was told that they would get right back to me, so far no word from WAMU. I called the Oregon DMV and asked if the title had Washington Mutual as a lien holder and they said yes and the title went to Washington Mutual back in Feb. of 2000. I also looked at my original loan documents and found that the trailer was secured as part of the loan.

So I can take a mistake but to lie to me about not having a title and then to tell me that I must have it when the paperwork clearly shows otherwise, this is beyond deceptive and clearly bordering on criminal. I am now in the position of not having a boat that I can't legally transport on public roads because the paperwork is not in my name as the sole owner. I did have a buyer for the boat and that has fallen thru since I also can't sell the boat without buying a new trailer with a new title. Best case is if WAMU will send me a statement that the loan is satisfied and I get to shell out $110.00 for a duplicate title.

So if you are thinking of doing business with WAMU think again, you may not have title to you vehicle after you satisfy the loan terms. To say that I feel violated is an understatement. It is off to the better business bureau.
