My wife and I received an offer to set up a Way2Save account to benefit from a 3% apr up to the first $500 on the account. We met with a girl who seemed to know the program forwards and backwards. Though I had not read or researched this product myself before having a "sit down" with a rep, I asked if it was possible to open many accounts to benefit from the 3% apr. "Sure, as long we have a different SSN or combo of SSN for each account". No problem, we'll set 1 up for my wife and I, my son and I, myself, my wife and son and I, my wife and son, and my wife by herself. That's 6 accounts with $500 in each account. Well 4 months later we had noticed >1% was calculating for a posted interest rate. Decided to investigate and found out the rep that set up all 6 accounts was reluctant to specify the 3% was only applicable to 1 account, not 6. On top of that the one account the apr should have been applied to wasn't calculating correctly.
Finally decided to have a different person walk us through the program and reduce our 6 Way2Save accounts to 1, he had no new info even when asked specifically if there was anything else we needed to get the 3% i.e. set up automatic transfer, withdrawls, etc. "Nothing" he says, it will automatically calcuate your apr per statment cycle. "Great", I said. Next month, no 3% apr post. Ok, I was handed a $5 customer service credit...woo, hoo! The next month no 3% apr post.
This is absolutely fishy. If I haden't be paying attention this money would be just sitting there. We are talking nickles and dimes but it's the principle of selling a product that #1 is useful to the customer and #2 actually gives you what the terms state within the product itself.
I'm absolutley unhappy with WF and will be moving my money and substantial nest egg to a competitor. My friends and family have been warned!
