How difficult must it be to find timely, honest employees to drive our children to school?
The #1 requirement of bus drivers for Wake County is to pick up students the same time every day.
I called & left a voicemail on 1/28/11 to re-start bus service to take my daughter to school on bus route #14. The voicemail states there will be a return call back within 24 hours. I never heard back from anyone at (919)460-3517, so I called again on 2/1/11. They informed me the bus would be at our stop at 7:25am (we were to be there between 7:15&7:30).
On Wednesday Feb 2nd., We waited in the rain from 7:11am until 8:03am, calling them 1/2 dozen times to be sure it was still coming, and finally were informed by Maxine that it would be coming at 7:50am instead, due to a last minute change late yesterday afternoon.
The bus NEVER showed up at all! Maxine asked at 8am if I could take my child to school myself after all that or wait again for another bus headed somewhere to pick her up for real 'supposedly'! I fed my daughter (since she missed school breakfast at that point) and found a way to get my child to Adams Elementary today.
I have no idea how high up the level of incompetence goes there, but for the driver to finally say she DID come by the stop at 7:45 was an outright LIE (unless the bus & my daughter and I are all invisible).
I think more than a mere investigation into this matter is warranted at this point. EVERY single student is entitled to be picked up by good drivers that are paid to do their jobs if they are substitute drivers or not!
I will be forwarding this message to anyone in a position of authority related to Wake County until this issue is resolved.
Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated!
