On 9/10/10, I went online to check my bank account to see how much money I had because I need some groceries. My cupboards are bare. I noticed a withdrawal of $39.99 which I did not recognize. I got a copy of the "check". Payment is made to Online Resource. There is no physical address, only a website & phone number. I called the phone number & it was a company called Web Biz Made Easy. When I questioned the person, she could not tell me the source of the authority to take my money. First of all, I have no money. I am on SSDI and barely make it from paycheck to paycheck, so I NEVER would sign up for anything, especially a specious web based home income bunch of baloney. She also said the company sent an e-mail on 09/02, which I was able to find. I am behind in reading my mail due to several days of illness. Besides it really does not tell me anything. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told a refund will be processed and it will take 7-10 days to show up in my bank. That really got me upset & she told me I would have to call on Sat. 9 AM to 6 PM EDT.
So, at 6:30 AM PDT, I called. The girl I spoke to was no help. She just kept spouting the company line. She told me the refund was in process & there was nothing else to do. I asked her to provide me with details and show me exactly where I allegedly signed up for this 'service'. She said it was up to me to know where I signed up. I tried to explain that if I never heard of them, how could I possibly know which third party provided this information to them. She said it was an online loan application, cross sale agreement. But, they deal with many of the online lenders & there is no way to determine which one is the provider here. I was transferred to a supervisor (at my request), Erin. She was quite adept at ignoring what I was saying and continued to give her company line info. She told me I was going to get a refund in 7-10 days. I again explained that I needed food & could not get any because they stole my money. She got all uppity about the word, 'stole'. She then said I could call on Monday to speak to the refund processing dept. I asked if she would order some groceries for me & have them delivered today. She went off on one of her canned speeches.
I have contacted my bank to see if there is some way to have my account blocked so that there must be approval by me before anything like this is processed. I am awaiting their response.
I cannot find a physical address for Web Biz or Online Resource. I did note there are numerous complaints. What does it take to stop these predators? I realize that the internet has little control or monitoring & there are few laws pertaining to internet practices. I did peruse BBB & neither company is listed (surprise!). Now if I could just get some groceries.
I don't know what you can do, but I would like to know what happens.
