After interviewing several photographers, my husband and I decided to use the company, Weddings by Tepper. We originally found them on the Wedding Sites and Services website and loved the fact that it was a husband and wife team who came from a family full of photographers, or so they told us. After meeting with Tepper several times before our wedding, we felt more and more confident knowing that we picked the right photographer.

Skip to June 2008. My husband and I both relied on Tepper and her husband's experience to take the pictures we had discussed, and didn't think twice about how they were being taken. It wasn't until we received our online album that we wondered what happened. Out of the 900+ pictures, it was extremely difficult to find enough pictures to even put into an album. The majority of our pictures were dark, extremely distant, flat, and boring. In fact, we received better quality ceremony pictures taken from our family and friends using their pocket-sized digital camera.

After expressing our concerns to Tepper, she initially offered to do whatever she could to fix our pictures. We then decided to meet in person and go over the list of pictures we wanted cropped and/or modified. Again, since there were only about 120 useable shots in the bunch, we didn't think it was unfair of us to ask her to fix about half of those. It wasn't until our face-to-face meeting that told us she would only be willing to modify the pictures we were going to use for our album, and that's it. Considering she missed critical shots like our first kiss, ring exchange, and even walking down the aisle, we clearly didn't think that was fair. Tepper then proceeded to blame
* the DJ for being in their way before the ceremony, though neither she nor her husband asked him to move
* our ceremony for being too short, though they both agreed that they got the shots they needed, and chose to stand in the back of the venue to take all of our pictures instead of using the aisle or side staircase
* our wedding party for not knowing where to look, though they never told us when they were taking a picture, much less which camera to look at
* our venue for being too dark, though they had over a year to perform their due diligence and assess the lighting situation... which they both agreed they never did.

After that meeting my husband and I thought it would be best if we came up with a compromise, due to her defensive reactions after expressing our concerns with their work. Since the album cost the same amount as our final payment (per their contract), we were willing to forgo the album and walk away with only our high-resolution pictures on a CD. That evoked even more hostility, and Tepper's emails became more antagonistic by the day. Never in my life have I dealt with a person that lacked such basic customer service skills.

Needless to say, our photographers went from offering to modify all of our pictures initially, to slight modifications of only the album pictures, to only giving us direct outputs from the camera with absolutely no modifications. So essentially, my husband and I paid this woman and her husband for direct output images that were no better than those from our friend's cameras. For Tepper, it wasn't a matter of making sure her clients were happy with her work, it was about her winning and getting the last word. This business even had the audacity to post a testimonial from us after knowing how upset we were with heir work, until we contacted the BBB to have it removed. This of course makes me wonder how credible her other testimonials are.

We tried to resolve this matter on our own and then through unbiased third parties, such as the BBB and a mediator. However, Weddings by Tepper proudly chose to ignore those requests since they already received their full payment from us.

Working with this woman has been nothing short of a nightmare. Again, we hope that this has not been your experience with this company, but we wanted to share ours, and warn future brides out there.
