Wells Fargo Auto Finance Reviews

never a wells fargo customer again July 12, 2011
general loan service
I have been with Wells Fargo Auto Finance for about a year and have never missed a payment. On May 7th 2011 i sustained a leg injury that put me on Short term disability. I knew I was going to have a car payment due on May 19th. On May 9th I started calling Wells Fargo to ask for a 1month payment extension due to the fact that I knew I wasn’t going to have any income coming in for about 8-10 weeks due to my injury. When I called on May 9th I was told I had to wait until my payment was past due before they could consider any payment modifications to my account. So on May 20th I called again and asked for a payment extension, explaining that I was out of work and couldn’t even walk due to the injury to my leg. They denied my request, stating that they didn’t feel that this was a short term problem and it would just prolong a bad situation.( how nice of them to consider my injury a long term problem and that it will spell finical doom for my family, it was the beginning of a great warm fuzzy feeling for this bank). I repeatedly called and asked for help with my situation, explaining that I do not want to escape my debt with them but only to get an extension to allow me to save my credit rating, and have money for the basic living expenses that everyone on the planet has (like food, water, medication, etc.). Wells Fargo not only continued to decline my requests for reasons like I didn’t make 2 consecutive payments in 45 days (DUH!! I started asking for an extension before I had even missed a single payment!!), to from what I was told today is that now I can considered a risk of some kind so there is no way I can get an extension. They also called me continuously all day long every day. When I do pick up the phone to try to talk to them I get nothing but rude collection dept. butt heads that can’t tell me anything other than your request has been denied and there is nothing we can do. I was also told that they are collections and that customer service was not their problem or concern. I will refinance this loan as soon as I can get the paperwork done this week and they will never see another penny of my money again. This is the WORST, MOST INCONSIDERATE, RUDE, SELF SERVING COMPANY TO DEAL WITH!!! I COMPLETELY REGRET EVER DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM! If I had to choose between walking to work or taking a loan with this company the choice is easy…. I WILL WALK TO WORK!!!... Beware of this company …. Never give them your money… I would take a 15 % higher interest rate before ever doing business with these people. They gave me absolutely no consideration for a non-delinquent customer with a short term situation. I can’t imagine why the banking industry has such a tarnished image. I work in automotive retail and see thousands of people a year; I hope no one ever asks me about this company because I have no reservations in telling anyone exactly how I have been treated.

Wells Fargo Stole $610 From My Family
Wells Fargo stole $610 from me and took my car while in the middle of paying them $610. On June 2, 2011, I was in the line at the Western Union booth at Safeway making out a money order to be paid to Wells Fargo Auto Finance. While in line, the representative in the billing dept at Wells Fargo was on the phone aware of what I was doing. I told him payment was made and agreed to make the rest of the payment 2 weeks later, as was specified in an on-the-phone agreement between myself and representatives of their company a few weeks prior. You see, I have been unemployed recently, and my bills have been a little hard to pay. I have worked all my life and am trying desperately to find at job (even at the moment). I told them this on the phone and they acted like they 'so what?'. Anyway, I made an agreement with them to pay $610 worth of car payments on 05/29/2011. The only problem was that neither I nor the representative at Wells Fargo realized that this was Memorial Day and Western Union was closed everywhere I attempted to go that day. I ended up calling Wells Fargo and telling them of this and they gave me a hard time, but in the end I was unable to find a Western Union that was open. I paid them the $610 on Thursday, June 02, 2011 (3 days later...I had to go to Baltimore to take care of my mother who is sick). While at line for Western Union, I had the representative of Wells Fargo on the phone, and he was fully aware that the payment had been satisfied. This was at 4 30. At 10 00 pm, on the same day, a tow truck driver knocked on my door saying he needed the keys to the vehicle because his company had received a call around 8 00 that very night that a repossession order had been sent to them by Wells Fargo for our '07 Dodge Caliber. By the way, Wells Fargo would not allow me to pay by credit card on the phone despite the numerous times I had asked them to do so. So I go back online and call Western Union to stop payment, and to my surprise, Wells Fargo had already taken payment. How can a company such as this take $610 away from an unemployed father of a 2 year old (our only car) and act like it is just business as usual? They defaulted on their on-the-phone contract they had given to me. It was confirmed both by a representative within Wells Fargo (I think he slipped up) and the tow truck driver that the order to repossess was made after I had paid them my part of the obligation. In 2 weeks I was planning on paying them $300, like our agreement which was made on the phone specified, therefore paying my end of the obligation to them. That $610 could have went to a down payment on another car or went to feed my almost 2 year old daughter. We now have to walk to that same Safeway whenever we cannot find someone to give us a ride all because a national bank lied to me over the phone. Is this legal? Is this morally right? I know I have been robbed...I just pray that others see the wrong this company which states 'it is here for the consumer' has committed against a regular, hard-working American family for no reason at all.

harassment and thievery
This company is absolutely disgusting!!! Nothing but a bunch of lying con artists who prey on the very own people who bailed all the damn banks out in the first place. We need a revolution to happen where we all storm the loan offices and banks and take over.
These people charge up too and I'm more then 30% interests, which alone is criminal and then they play games to make sure that you mess up your payments so they can jack up the cost.
I set up an auto loan because my banker claimed that it would be the fasted and easiest way to get the money I needed and that it would build my credit. Non of this was true at all. All lies! I set up automatic payment to make life easier for me. i have a Wells Fargo bank account and was paying the Wells Fargo auto loan thru that bank account. Every time the bill was due something happened to screw up the money going thru. I had to reset up my automatic payment more then 6 times before i gave up. each time the bank had screwed up and then they tried to charge me for late fees and then jack up the interest. They claim that they can not contact the bank and that they are separate from the bank. This is also a lie. I was told from multiple people at the branch and thru the 800 number that they can do all that work and contact them but the auto finance never would help.
I finally paid off my loan at the bank branch with cash. I insisted to have my car title returned to me and they completely ignored me. They were alway quick to call me starting at 6 am until 11 pm but good luck getting ahold of them and getting anywhere. They are rude and criminal. They lied to me on multiple occasions as to when they mailed it out. it has been a month and I still do not have my title back. I figure they have stolen property and they should be arrested.
Wells Fargo Unfair Auto Lending Practice April 16, 2011
Excessive Interest after maturation
I accepted auto loan from Wells Fargo Auto Finance in 2006. My loan was for 48 mos and matured 1/2011. I have been late for the entirety of the loan because I over estimated my ability to meet the note ($689 monthly) but I always paid the late fees. The auto was repossessed once and I paid the fees to retain it back. In December of 2010 I spoke with a very nice agent who assisted me in getting the loan caught up. I paid $1400 that night via Western Union and then authorized a bank draft the following week which made me current to that month. According to the agent the remaining balance on my loan was $1823 which included the Jan payment. On Jan 12 I scheduled the final bank draft of $1823 to be taken on 1/24/11 which was the final amount due on the loan. On 1/24 this amount was drafted from my account as scheduled. On 1/6 I received a statement which confirmed the amount as I discussed with the agent. In february I began receiving collection calls stating I owed a balance for late fees in the amount of $1824. I then began to explain that the amount was the payment taken in Jan. The agent stated that that amount was for the principal balance due and not the late fees. I disputed that for several weeks. In March the same collection calls kept coming and I continued to express my point regarding the payments made and the agent information provided to me along with the statement/letters sent confirming the payments. Nothing helped and the agents began to get nasty with their conversation. On April 9th I again had another debate with Wells Fargo collection agent regarding my auto loan. This time a Supervisor explained that I owed $1791 for Interest that had accrued on my loan during the times I was late. I argued that this cannot be because I was told that the final amount due was $1823 in December and that I paid that amount in Jan as agreed. The Agent then stated that $1200 of that was for late fees and the other was applied to my 48th payment. I then asked how could Interest accrue when the loan was paid in full in the month it matured? I was informed that I had a "simple interest" auto loan and for every day I was late interest was accruing outside of the late fees that were being charged. I was told if I did not pay the $1791 by 4/12 the vehicle would be repossessed. On 4/11 I again called trying to reach an agreement but to no avail so I paid the $1791 via Western Union. The very next day I got collection calls again now saying that the $1791 was not a payoff but I still owe $91 and the vehicle is subject to repossession if I don't pay it immediately. I argued against it stating once again I paid what you guys said was due but to no avail.
I am lost at what to do but I know that this is not fair lending practices and that what they are doing is because they know lower income individuals dont know the law regarding lending and tha fighting them for their unethical/illegal behavior is seriously hard. Something needs to be done about this!

Phone Harrassment
Due to a lengthy illness, I was not able to meet my loan payment entirely in March 2011. I have held a loan with Wells Fargo Auto Finance for six years. This was the first time I had fallen a little behind. I called and made arrangements to pay the interest and the late payment fee within an agreed time frame. Now here's the kicker: from the day that the payment had been missed until well after the day I had made the payment, I received phone call after phone call on daily basis, with multiple calls per day. Now here is where I lost it! They called me on Saturday mornings and Sunday mornings, during times when they say they are not available for customer service calls. The agents calling were rude, obnoxious and threatened to repossess my car, even though I had paid the agreed amount! I reported this bad business practise to the Better Business Bureau and Consumer Protection agency. I would encourage all who have experienced similar harassing phone calls from a financing company to do the same.

False Credit Report
My Husband and I purchased a Vehicle with the assistance of Wells Fargo Auto Finance loan, we didn't have the best credit so it was a high interest loan. There were times we were behind on payments. One time they even repossesed the vehicle after accepting a payment and then returned the vehicle to us...finally in March of 2008 we paid the loan off, received the title and the next year we traded it in on a new vehicle. Durring the course of the loan they marked our credit report as the vehicle was repossesed however the vehicle was still in our possesion and payments were current, I even received a letter stating that it was not suppose to be marked in repossesion on our credit report. Here we are more than two years after paying the loan off in full...my husband has a credit review for his job and they have the loan marked not paid in full but charged off bad debt to the tune of over $7000!!! So when calling to correct this (I have two days to do this or my husband will be fired!!) I'm directed to submit the dispute to the credit agency and to WFAF internal Credit Dispute Resolution and they will get to it. I finally get escallated to a supervisor who tries to send me a paid in full letter (to prove to the employeer that its paid in full) but he is not sure he is able to due to the account status of it listed in REPOSESSION!!! Let me clarify they repossesed the vehicle ONCE and handed it back to me the very next day with their apologies for making the mistake!!! However they listed it TWICE on my credit report AND now they have marked the account as CHARGED OFF when it was PAID IN FULL over two years ago!!! Something has to give with this company!!! I will NEVER use or recomend them EVER!!!

Harrassing, belittling, rude, unhelpful
I have been dealing with Wells Fargo Auto Finance since 2007. My first bad experience started right off the bat, they hit me with a %17.49 interest rate WITH a Co-signer with good credit. I have been paying $400 a month for the past 3 years, I was hospitalized in February of last year and then let go from my job beginning of this past May and I suffered a major financial crisis. I was unable to receive ANY help at all from Wells Fargo. I had to ask friends and family to help me so I would not lose my car and in turn run the risk of not being able to commute to and from my new job. I kept up on payments, some were a few days late and of course they charged me late fees and tons of finance charges. I was told this past December that I was behind by one payment for Novemeber and I needed to pay at least $400 to catch me up by December 21st and then they would defer the December payment to help me out. I paid the $400 and the deferral never happened. I then began working at a new job and I explained to them that I would be able to make a payment once I get my first paycheck and pay rent... I received approximately 10 calls a day starting at 8am and continuing until 9pm. I had one representative in particular, James, who was INCREDIBLY rude and degrading. I tried speaking with him on about 4 different occasions, every phone call I made seemed pointless. I would end up in tears because he was so rude to me... I have been begging for help since last year and all they do is threaten to repo my car if I don't make a payment right then. The reason I am writing this today is because I have been skrewed once again... After being hung up on by James on numerous occasions, I FINALLY got a hold of his supervisor... She wasn't much nicer but I felt I had actually gotten somewhere with her... She told me "You owe for 3 payments. You were behind December and January and your February payment is due. If you don't make this payment by the 20th of this month, the car will be repossessed. Since the 20th is actually a holiday, I have to set it for the 18th" ... I agreed to set up an EFT for $1178.00 to get me completely caught up... Well, I received another bill in the mail and guess what... Now I am supposedly one month behind again. So, I call today... Get another RUDE representative on the phone and she is completely unhelpful and she just transferred my call over to James... What does he do? He tells me that I am mistaken, I don't know whats going on, his supervisor never told me that I would be caught up, I'm not telling the truth... I asked him for his supervisors number so I could call and ask her directly what was going on... he rambled off the extension number and I asked him for the phone number I should use... He asked "What, you don't know the number here?" and I told him I wasn't sure which one to use and he said that that was too bad, told me to have a nice day and hung up on me. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced and I hope something gets done about it.

HARASSMENT AND RUDENESS
I HAVE MY CAR FINANCED THRU WELLS FARGO AUTO FINANCE. THEY HAVE HARASSED ME AT WORK, AT HOME, MY FAMILY AND MY EX-HUSBAND THAT I HAVE NOT BEEN MARRIED TO FOR 40 YRS. THEY JUST WILL NOT STOP AND I AM GETTING REALLY FED UP WITH THEM AND THEIR COLLECTION CALLS AND THE RUDE EMPLOYEES AT THEIR COMPANY. I AM NOT SAYING THAT I'M NOT BEHIND ON SOME PAYMENTS, BUT I AM DOING THE BEST THAT I CAN WITH A LIMITED INCOME. I HAVE ALWAYS PAID MY CARS OFF. IF ANYONE HAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST THEM, I WOULD LIKE TO BE IN ON IT. MY E-MAIL IS [email protected]. PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

RUDE employees
I have also had a very bad experience dealing w/ the employees of Wells Fargo Auto Finance. The people that answer the phone are generally nice, but can not help you with your account. They will then transfer you to the rudest people you could ever possible encounter anywhere. I was admitted to the hospital for a month in 2008 & requested to defer my payment, as I would have NO income for that month. They were very rude to me and basically told me that it wasn't their problem & the payment was due in full, or would go to their Collection board. After a month of arguing with them & talking to rude supervisor after rude supervisor, they finally deferred my payment. But, now any time I have to call Customer Service for any reason, they are beyond rude. I will NEVER use them again & would advise anyone else considering a loan through them, to not. They could care less about the hardships facing their customer's, especially since the recession. This is as heartless a company as I've ever had to deal with.

phone calls
For the last 2 to 3 months, my husband and I have been receiving phone calls from this company. The problem is that they are looking for a man named James. There is no one here by that name and they have been told repeatedly that they have a wrong number. Instead of apologizing and stopping the calls, they get aggressive and keep calling. I got another call this morning (before 9 am) on Saturday Jan. 15. I told her that she again had the wrong number. She screamed at me and told me to have a nice day. Are the women there stupid? Do they not know what 'wrong number' means? We would love to know how to stop this harrassment. Unfortunately, when you call the number back, all you get is a recording. I don't know anyone's extention and even if I did, they wouldn't understand my request anyway.
