Wells Fargo Auto Finance Reviews

Wells fargo auto - horrendous customer service.
I have had my auto financed with Wachovia for about three years. I was always on time with my payment until my husband lost his job last year. I have to say Wachovia was always willing to work with me, and respectful, until they were sold out to Wells Fargo. I never asked to do business with Wells fargo. After all of the horrible things I heard about their financing practices I would have never agreed to the loan if I knew I would eventually be doing business with WF.

In the last several months I have been constantly harassed by this company. They have called me constantly (during my work hours) they have called my friends, neighbors, and family. Each time they are rude and condescending. There is one gentleman who I did talk to who was very nice and helpful, I believe he was previously at Wachovia.
After being verbally abused this last time, I informed the customer service rep. that I was recording our conversation; she immediately told me she did not authorize me to record the call, that it was illegal to do so and then she hung up on me. Is this correct? When you call to talk to a rep, there is an automated recording that states “this call may be recorded for quality purposes”. Does that not give the customer the right to record the same conversation? Gee, maybe WF dealer services doesn’t want consumers to have proof of their horrendous “customer service skills.” I say we take a stand and start recording these calls and turn them in to a major news network. Maybe then something will change. There is a way to be stern with customers without being rude, insulting, and disrespectful. I work at a medical office for 13 doctors, we have patients who are delinquent on payments and sent to collections. If I ever treated any of them with the same discourtesy I was treated with I would have been fired a long time ago!

Holding repair claim check hostage
My insurance company (Progressive) said I could go anywhere I wanted to have my car repaired and wrote the check to me and Wells Fargo. I arranged to have the car repaired. When the car was done, I sent it to Wells Fargo (endorsed, as requested) with a copy of the quote, the invoice and a letter of satisfaction. I waited until the car was done to send the letter because I didn't want to send a letter saying I was satisfied until I saw the repair. Wells Fargo deposited the check a week ago.

Then, Wells Fargo said they wanted a letter signed by my mother - the co-signer. Then, the repair guy had to send a different invoice because he gave them his address verbally over the phone and it didn't match my letter. Then, they decided it was fraud because my letter and his didn't match and they don't pay labor to individuals so he had to send a third invoice along with a copy of the business license.

I told her the car was repaired - did she want pictures? Or perhaps a letter signed by my dad or a grandparent? When I asked if this was all that was going to be needed - yes or no, so I can get my car back, the CSR told me that she "told me what I needed and if I kept this up, the repair guy was going to have to send the receipts too... " When I asked if she could give me a yes or no answer she hung up on me. When I called back, her supervisor said the same thing. I have called the repair shop again. I have sent another letter again. I have no confidence that they will ever release the check or that I could get my car back ever. I have never been so unhappy with a lendor in my life. They have no customer service skills - they change the requirements from day to day and then, when you struggle to comply, they accuse you of insurance fraud. I will never finance another thing through Wells Fargo and I will tell everyone I know that they are the worst excuse for a company I have ever seen. This is exactly why everyone should pay cash for everything. If they needed customers worse than we need them, we might get some service or respect. I am paying them good money for the "privilege" of a loan through them. I don't need this kind of "privilege".

I think they create these delaying tactics so they can earn the interest on the funds. If my money and yours are combined, I bet they make millions on this over the course of a year. And the sad thing is, it's legal. They are entitled to make their own ridiculous requirements because they are the "lienholder". I will never again let anyone have this kind of power over me again.

No Help from Loan Services
Wells Fargo Auto Services, formally Wachovia Dealer Services, does not know how to help their account holders and treat them with respect. I have a car loan originally through Wachovia Dealer Services and has now been taken over by Wells Fargo. They are the same employees. I have had my auto loan with them for nearly three years and had a few rough years. I have since paid on or before my due date each and every month for over a year. I however had to file an extension last January due to a death in the family. They did grant that and then I fell behind in February as a carry over from the funeral.

Since March of 2009 I have paid on or before my due date each and every month with a money transfer. The Customer service representative stated that I would not be considered late as long as I did this. I am concerned about my credit and that is what they said would not be affected. I need to check that! In the meantime I have paid the late fee each month as my car payment is one month behind. They also stated that since I just had an extension in January that I would not be eligible for one year! So I paid every month as I stated I would, never missing a payment. A full year has transpired and they will not give me an extension. I stated that I followed everything they wanted, but they said it was their right to refuse! I will give them that! I told them that as of April, I was unemployed. They stated that I would have to be employed to get an extension! WTF! I am self employed then! That won't work! Just pay the the past due month! At least now, even with out a job, I will get the past due month paid! I am sure they will be happy.

During all of this time they have called numerous times every month to collect on the car. They called at home, at work, and now even on my cell phone. i told them I never gave them my cell phone number and that they had no right to call me on it! They said as long as I was past due, they have every right to call on that number! You might think that it would just be easy to pay for the past due month, and that is how they rudely treat me. I had bad credit, so they jacked up my interest rate, but I was okay as I got the car I wanted. I still feel that way. Treat me with respect and work with me, not against me as they do! My car payment is over $750 a month, no small change, so be respectful when talking with me!

The easiest fix will be to completely get caught up, which will happen this month, and shut those bozos up! This is kind of a rant, but you can see how they will not help even after I kept up my end of the bargain each month. Wachovia fell on hard times because they were stupid and Wells Fargo will do the exact same! Especially if they continue to treat their Customers this way!

I feel better letting this out and especially since I will be caught up this month!

Sincerely,
David

Customer Service
I tried to call Wells Fargo Auto Finance today in hopes to come to some kind of agreement to get my payments current. When I was routed to another representative, the not so gentlemen like man, rudely claimed I had no business taking care of this matter (even though my name is on the account to take care of this matter). When I insisted on speaking to his supervisor he then continued on about how he was going to remove my name from the account (which I'm sure he can't do with out authorization of the account owner, which is my husband who put my name on the account in the first place). He finally just got so obnoxious that I hung up and called the number back to speak to someone else. Finally, after getting hung up on twice, I finally got to speak to a young lady named Jessica. She was very friendly and very helpful. She actually listened to me and then made suggestions that could help us get caught back up. Instead of acting as if these people have never owed money before in their life, Jessica spoke to me as a human being should and was very respectful.

They screw up & it's MY fault?!
My auto loan was originally with Wachovia, which was bought out just recently by Wells Fargo (unfortunately!)

My first statement from Wells Fargo contained a HUGE error. They credited my loan with an over $6000 payment which I never made.

I contacted customer service and was told repeatedly that I made that payment, I repeatedly stated that I did not. The rep continued to say I had no April payment due and my next payment was due in May. I went back and forth with her and finally just gave up, figuring they'd get it worked out eventually.

So April rolls around, past my due date, and NO I didn't send the payment because I was told not to do so and I didn't want the account even more screwed up. I start getting late payment calls. I call and speak with another rep. All of a sudden it's MY fault they screwed up, MY fault their rep gave me bad info repeatedly. No one tried to help or apologize for their mess! I had to practically beg for a deferment.

I was finally put in contact with a condescending ass named Dave in the Milwaukee, WI office. He hassled me, acted like I just didn't make my payment for the hell of it. I haven't had one late car payment on any loan in over 14 years! I sure wasn't going to start now!

I did get the deferment, but have to pay a late fee, even though they're the one's that messed up! Still, not one person acknowledged or apologized for their accounting errors. I am so close to telling them to just send the repo guys instead of having to deal with Wells Fargo for the next 4 years of my loan!!

I am furious. DO NOT do business with Wells Fargo!

collection practices
Since purchasing my vehicle in 2006 I have had nothing but constant harassment from Wells Fargo and their so called agents. I have been hounded to make extra payments, payments for auto insurance, when I already had sufficient coverage, when asked for statement given the run around for one year until finally received. My family who have nothing to do with me or my loan, not even as a referance, called constantly all day long, no matter my payments are made every month online automatically. I have called and asked for this to stop, to no avail, also for 1 year every month I have been threatened with repo, and to date 4-22-2010, no one has shown up or served me with papers for the car, actually I am at the point I am looking into surrending the vehicle voluntarily. This is not the first vehicle I have purchased or financed, but by far the most upsetting finance company that I have dealt with. I am of the mind set that there has to be a lot of customers in the same boat as I, and I am calling for everyone involved to speak up and take Wells Fargo to court for shady business, unfair practices, or whatever legally can be done.

force Ins. because loss of job
Since 2007 Iv'e been a Customer of Wells Fargo Auto Finance, In Nov. 2009 I loss one of my jobs and when I explain to Wells Fargo Customer Service back in 2009, That my payments were going to be late or split and half. When I first took out the Loan thur Wells Fargo I was making close to 55000, since the loss of the job I make half of that now. So for four months it's been very hard making the payment before 30 days. I asked was there anything they can do to help me because of my hardship, every agent I talked too was rude to me, as If I owe them personally. So now I have forced Ins., through Wells Fargo which is a extra 1800 dollars, this month I called like I normally do to tell them I can't get the money and finally I talked to a very nice young lady who offered to give me some infomation about the deferred program. I could not believe this. In Nov. 2009 not one Customer Service Rep. offered to tell me about the program. I wonder why? I had Ins. at the time I lost my job, Was It it because she was African American and she realize that I was also? This distrubs me. Only thing they want to talk about were fees, Why was I not offered help while going through my hardship? It's like they are out for blood. I have three sons in college. What do they want me to do live in my car with my three sons when they come home from college? listen I'm only saying If someone would have told me about the deferred program my credit would not be shot and I would have had a chance to catch up on my Ins. and other bills.

Horrible Company
Please join me in calling Wells Fargo Auto and tell them how HORRIBLY they treat every day hard working Americans who are a month or two behind on their car payments. They threaten, harrass, tape and corner people into submission and have zero accountability. Furthermore, Wells Fargo Auto Finance is part of Wells Fargo Bank in SF CA who took MILLIONS of American TAX PAYER money to fund and sustain their business as many of us and our friends lost jobs and income in this recession.
You can VENT your feelings by calling them at these numbers:
801-246-0600
800-586-2310
888-932-3011
484-895-2000
480-337-3200
816-584-2070
888-775-6157
407-444-1995
515-221-6391
503-403-2664

These are active as of Feb 19, 2010. Wells Fargo Auto Finance seems to be in the business of shucking and jiving, ie.. you call one of these numbers, they 'record' you, and send you on to another number. It's all about getting around a 60 minutes moment. I ask anyone reading this to call, and ask them about their business practices. Ask them about the MILLIONS they've taken from us, the US taxpayer and ask them why the continue to harrass and harm the hard working or willing hard working American they call all day every day!!!

Let's show Wells Fargo Auto Finance who we are!!!

Lease
So I leased a car in 2007 from Wells Fargo Auto Finance. I lost my job 2 mos. later in 10/07. I made ON TIME full payments to Wells Fargo Auto Finance through February 2009 despite being unemployed and only working now and again at 10% of my former wage given the economy, etc. To make is simple.. we were former large earners for years who were significantly hurt in the 2007 recession forward and I was only able to find temp and contract employment at 10-20% of my former earnings. Despite that, I made payments to Wells Fargo Auto Finance without a hitch for nearly 20 mos. Finally, by 2/2010 we were 30 days delinquent and unable to continue paying for the car that was LEASED based on my former employer's monthly car allowance. Basically, we were done and we'd exhausted all of our financial resources, family, friends, 401k, housing equity, etc to pay our bills including the lease. Flash forward. 2/10/2010, WFAF calls me, asks for 1 pmt by eom. I say I can't, I tell them I'm done, baked, can't afford it further. WFAF rep responds by attacking me for being a lame businessman, a bad husbad, bad father, etc telling me I should not have entered into the agreement in 2007 if I could not pay for it. I told her, I'm sorry, but I lost my job nearly 2 years ago and have paid you religously since then but have run out of options and money. I said, Please come pick up the car, let's work something out and settle. She told me no way, she wants $ or nothing. I told her again, please come to ____ address and TAKE the car. She responded saying, I want $__ money and I don't want the car. I responded telling her I'd already had a call in the last week from the Wells Fargo REPO department confirming my address, and told her I'm more than happy to set up a time to VOLUNTARILY surrender the car to them. She did not want to hear any of that and proceeded to YELL at me that I need to re-examine my financial options and come up with a payment. So.. basically, I want to and am willing to SURRENDER the car and strike a settlement on the remaining balance due, but THEY want no part of this? What do I do next? File BK 7? Quit taking calls? Drive the car till it dissapears one night? I'm confused. I've offered to give it up and settle up.. what else can a man do in my situation???
