Wells Fargo Auto Finance Reviews

harrassing calls
they repossessed a vehicle that we had financed through them back in september or october of last year. evidently it was auctioned and supposedly we "owe" them money because they keep calling. they have yet to send written documentation of the amount owed. I will not give financial information over the phone or make any payment/settlement arrangements over the phone. Until I receive written documentation of the amount owed and a address where I can send payments to, I'm considering this a scam.

Wrong Car make and model listed on loan
I bought an Isuzu Trooper for my daughter and financed it thought Wells Fargo. Near the first of the '09 I refinanced the vehicle for her financial convenience. This adjustment was with the branch in Cookeville, TN.

During this procedure I asked the manager about financing my Honda which was paid for with a ARM. Because of a disputed account on my Credit Report I requested this process be put on hold until I could complete the removal process. I never contacted Wells Fargo again due to the change since management had changed hands.

The account on the Isuzu has my Honda listed as the financed vehicle ... My Honda cost $16, 000 so it is not included in the single account of $5000 financed on the Isuzu. I am eager to have this corrected. I talked with someone about this problem last month and they avowed to have it corrected by this month. . . It is not and I am not comfortable with making a payment on a loan that is incorrect on many levels. I am confident the late fees will be removed and a correction will made.

Repossesion
My Wife Passed away on March of 09 we were buying a car which the loan matured on the same month that she died. We had delayed 4 payments during the 6 year loan, also the car was in her name. I call 2 days after her death made payment arrangements was even given a bereavement discount of $500 making it 4 payments commencing on April and ending in july of 09. First payment was made on april 4 which I was still getting letters and phone calls from their collection dept but I was assured by the customer service rep that every thing would be fine.
On May 13 they repo the car before I can make the 2nd payment of 4, now we've bought the car in 2003 cost 17, 000 with the loan interest 27, 000 over a 6 year period and they repo with less than 1, 000 left from a 2-widower that's just just about as low as you can get!!! Now I'm seating here typing this complaint waiting for the office to open to see if i can get my car back I would never use Wells Fargo for anything as a matter of fact this is just another example of the greed and heartless nature of "doing business as usual" in this country I am so sick of this that's what's going to bring this country down!!! I havce a chance to leave the U.S. and I think I will I was trying to explain to a friend in Canada the situation and they just couldn't understand That because it doesn't make sense!!!
As soon as I can I'm out of here as long as we have greedy corporations
a regular person can not make it
So Long Folks!!!
The Bible says don't mistreat widows and orphans if you do and they cry out to me I'LL TAKE IT MOST SERIOUSLY I'll show my anger and come raging among you with the sword and your wives will end up widows and your children orphans

Telephone Harassment
After 19 payments and 19 months of this companies nonsense I am joining the legions of hard working folks and filing a complaint here about Wells Fargo Auto Finace. I read all over this site the horrible collection tactics this company resorts to and the self righteous employees of Wells Fargo and collectors who say "well if you weren't late" in response to the HUNDREDS of complaints against this company. For you self righteous collectors I submit that In 19 payments time, I have NEVER been more than 5 days late on my car loan. Not only have I never been late I pay my loan in advance of the amount due. Each month I send an extra 30-50.00 dollars, in a responsible effort to pay this loan off early.

Just today I was "complimented" in letter format by Wells Fargo for being such a responsible customer. Of Course the Thank you Letter is an effort to lock me into another loan with them. They must be smoking crack if they think I will ever take another dollar they offer. In the same day they want to thank me and give me more "CASH NOW CALL TODAY", Wells Fargo Auto Finance started its habitual monthly harassment because my payment was due 4 days ago. They start phoning at 8:00 am in the morning and their last call was just moments ago at 8:30 pm. No less than 6 times today they've called and I pick up the phone and I hang up the phone. Next time I will blow a whistle in their ear.

I urge anyone who is considering doing business with this company to pursue an alternative loan source. This company is the most over-zealous, unscrupulous and without normal morals of late and past due I have ever seen. RUN AWAY and before you RUN and tell them to shove their money where the sun doesn't shine, make sure you tell them how horrible their reputation is. I tell them just that at every opportunity. I know the moment I can get rid of this car, loan, and this company it will be the best moment of my life.

Keep calling, but don't have a loan with them.
About 3 weeks ago, Wells Fargo Auto Finance started to call my phone (not my primary phone) leaving me messages that seemed very important. I was very alarmed as I don't have any loans with Wells Fargo (I am debt free), so I was super afraid that someone was trying to use my credit. I called the phone number: 8887756157 . The first thing the woman asked for when I called was my Social Security #. I told her absolutely not was I going to give her my SS#. I told her that I don't have any clue why they are calling. She transfered me to another woman. Had to tell this woman my situation again. They kept trying to get information out of me. Finally they transfered me to the woman (I think it was her) that first called me. She said that someone used me as a reference. The name she gave was not even someone I knew. I asked her what address I lived on. At that point she said I should tell her what address I live on. I told her I was done speaking with her & was calling my credit monitoring service to make sure nothing was on my credit. I also told her to stop calling. Checked my credit & everything was perfect. 4 days later (last Sunday) the calls started again. They left a message on Sunday & Tuesday. Wednesday I called Wells Fargo Bank to find out if this was even associated with them. The woman said yes. I told her what was going on & told her that it was a bad reflection on Wells Fargo how this company conducts business. She took my information & said I would be put on a Privacy list. Well the calls continue. On Friday alone, I counted 8 calls. All hang ups.

I have put my #'s on the Do Not Call list, but have found out that these companies to not have to comply cause the are trying to collect debt. Next I changed my recorder to have the sounds that sound like my # has been disconnected. Also just installed the Telezapper to my phone. Don't know if any of those will work. My next thing I am ordering is a whistle so when I can get them to call again, I will blow the whistle to the person at the other end of the phone. Hopefully after I am able to do that, these fools will stop calling.

This all started when I took the Unlisted block off this #. It is not my primary # anymore. I only have it cause I need a dedicated # for my buildings security door system. I have been having super weird credit debt collector calls for the last 5 months. As stated before, I am debt free so I know that it is all a scam.

I really learned a lesson from this. Before calling anyone back, take a deep breath & reverse look up the #.

If anyone has any suggestions to stop all of this, I would appreciate it.

A real Chance to stop them
Please, this is a chance to make a real difference with regard to the way Wells Fargo Auto Finance does business. I spoke with a Wells Fargo Rep this morning, and tried to make arrangements to bring my account current (I am behind a payment, like millions of Americans, I had lost my job, and only just recently got a new one). I informed her that I could make the current past due payment on Monday, and she flatly refused to accept any payment.

After having spoken to 3 different reps at the company, the best they would do is say that they wont accept the past due payment in full on Monday, and wished me good luck (I do have audio recording of this conversation).

Following the conversation, I contacted the Consumer Affairs reporter at one of the local network affiliates here in Columbus Ohio, explained the situation, and played him the audio from the call. After explaining to him what had transpired, and pointing out that Wells Fargo Bank had already received $25, 000, 000, 000.00 (that is $25 Billion) in bailout money from taxpayers, and explaining the lending practices, interest rates, etc. He has expressed a strong interest in doing a story on them.

I will be meeting with him next Wednesday to discuss what they are doing, and he thinks that they can be brought under fire for what they are doing. He feels that an expose on their practices can have a serious impact on what they are doing, and that the story of what they are doing does have a potential for full network coverage, if enough examples can be provided for what they are doing, it would be a great help.

Even if this doesn't stop them, in our local market, which is very substantial, it will put pressure on dealerships to stop using Wells Fargo Auto Finance, as well as other preditory lenders, as a source of financing, at least in the local market in Central Ohio. This is a large market, and if the only way to hit a company like this is in the pocket, this should do it.

I am asking for your stories regarding Wells Fargo Auto Finance in particular since they are tied with 2 other banks that have recieved more Federal Tax Dollars for "Bailout" than anyone else, and are engaging in the exact same practices that have helped lead to the current financial problems here in America.

This is a real chance to change them. Please, send your stories to [email protected]

I will review and submit them to the reporter during our meeting next week, and will send out responses to all with regard to the story and its' progression.

I will be posting this to every board I can find, and should you stumble across one that does not have it, feel free to post it there until May 5th (I need time to get everything together before my meeting)

Thank you
Excess Payment on Car Payment
I made 1 payment of $100 on the 23rd of April. When I checked my Bank Statement online. I noticed 2 payments of $100. I only authorized 1 payment. Since i feel it is no longer safe to make online payments because of this. I will NOT be making anymore payments online. I called your office and they said that they were not able to refund that additional $100 back into my bank account. Thank You

Phone Calls / Customer Service /
Where to start with Wells Fargo. I first financed a car with WF in 2004. I was never late and never had a problem until I lost my job. The day I lost my job, I called WF to inform them to update my employer information, big mistake keeping them informed. This is when the phone calls started; before I was ever late, I started getting phone calls both at home and on my cell phone from WF asking if I had found a job. I told them my payments are current and I still maintain full coverage insurance so there is no need to call me daily. There is nowhere on my contract that says I must maintain a fulltime job in order to keep the SUV!!! One month after I lost my job, I switched my insurance from AAA to State Farm, still maintaing full coverage. I called WF, had both insurance companies fax all the needed documents to WF. Everything should be fine. In December 2008, I get a phone call from WF saying that I am 45 days past due on my car payment and they have the right to repo my car at any time...WHAT??? I asked the girl to tell me my last payments, which didn't match up to what my records said. I then asked her to tell me in detail where every dollar is going (as far as interest, etc.). Then I find out I have been charged over $800.00 for there minimum coverage Balboa auto insurance. I told her I that I have insurance, and once again had to call my past & current insurance companies and have them fax coverage dates to WF. I get a cancellation letter for the WF insurance in January, but then I'm charged $120.00 at the end of January for insurance. Thus again, making my payments fall behind. Now I'm told on top of the $17.00 each month they say I'm late, there is also a "MISC" $117.00 late charge. I asked what this was for and no one could explain it to me. One person said it was the balance from last month, another said it was late charges and the last said it was insurance. In the end, I am still waiting to be creditied the full amount of the insurance, plus the $117.00 and the other late charges. All together I faxed my insurance information about 4 or 5 times... The company is so incompetent that I wouldn't be shocked to get a phone call in the next hour with a rep asking me why I don't have insurance. This is by far the WORST company I have ever dealt with.

Fraud/Scam
I went on March 13, 2009 to refinance my vehicle. They were insistent that they could give me a great deal. Long story short, during the refinancing they began to discuss home equity loans. I fell for it hook line and sinker. Signed a bunch of papers with the loan representative's innocuous statement "sign here, this is just a form stating that we have the authority to retrieve copies of your W2s", "sign here . . . etc., " Well, unfortunately, I signed a bunch of papers and did not read anything very carefully. Initially, I was paying 11.25% on a 2000 BMW, had been paying $272.00 for one year and owed approximately $10, 000 on my vehicle. I left the office with the statement that all paperwork and my check would be sent through the mail and at that time I could review everything and if I was in agreement, I could cash the check, thus sealing the deal. Well, none of that happened. Here is it is April 17, 2009 and I have yet to receive any paperwork from that office and I have not received a check. I was initially told that it would be for $5, 900, but paperwork that I subsequently got from the auto office in Arizona shows only $1, 851. They added paperwork behind a page that I apparently signed and it shows that my new percentage rate is 20.33% for a monthly payment over 54 months of $350.00 for a total of $18, 900.00. When I called (for about the 100th time), I was told there was nothing that could be done, that I had signed the paperwork and that I was bound by this contract. The manager of the branch actually told me that he didn't know why I was complaining because he thought that I had received "a sweet deal".

They are sweet and charming at the beginning of the transaction and will bend over backwards for you. Once they get your signature, they are rude and will not return your calls. I guess I will eventually receive all paperwork and my check from them, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Horrible company
I really feel like after reading these posts that we need to do something about the way that Wells Fargo handles business (at least in the auto finance department - I have great customer service with their mortgage department & personal banking) Anyway. In the last year, my fiance and I hit a very rough patch with the purchase of a new home & then not too shortly after, we both were laid off. Unfortunately, our car payments got a little behind.

We immediately called to let them know what happened and they said that they would be willing to work with us to make sure we stayed a float. I've never felt so insulted by a company in my life. They did NOTHING to help us except tell us that signing up for their insurance would lower our car payment - their car insurance is $150 MORE than we pay now. So we said no. Ever since then, we've been trying to make the payments as best as we can. In the last 6 months now, we've received over 364 calls from them. With every call, the person gets a little more rude.

We set ourselves up on payment plans and was told the calls would stop...they didn't. Yesterday (4/12) was Easter Sunday - guess who called my home 9 times?! They started to call my fiances new place of employment so many times that they threatened to fire him. We told Wells Fargo to stop and the calls did not stop. They ended up having to change his phone # at work. I asked to speak with a manager after we made 3 months worth of payments in one month and the calls STILL continued... I was told the manager would do nothing to help me because we were 'irresponsible and immature.'

From Day 1 - The first day I had lost my job - we made sure to call them to let them know our income was going to change. We tried our best to stay on top of our bills even with both of us laid off for a short time and stay in communication with WF Auto Finance and they still continue to use threats and call us liars. We were told we were 3 months behind, so we paid the 3 months as soon as we both got paid from our new jobs in one lump sum PLUS the payment for that month that was due... According to the calculations we've been keeping, we've paid MORE than we were supposed to...yet the calls still continue...every hour, every day...with threats & demands for money.

They keep NO RECORD of any past conversations - just a heads up. You could call 3 times in one day to this department and they would have no record. Make sure you keep track of every conversation you have with this company AND every payment you make. They are a horrible, horrible department.
