Wells Fargo Financial Reviews

Credit Line and Terrible Customer Service
I called today to try to settle a credit line I had taken out to buy a couch. The terms were for 2 years with no interest. I was told when I took the credit that if I made my minimum payments every month the account would be paid off in two years and I wouldn't have to worry about being charged interest. However, the minimum payments that Wells Fargo calculated were below what would be needed to pay off the credit in two years. They did not tell me this so I've been happily paying what I thought was the correct amount for two years. The 0% interest deal expired on April 6th and I failed to notice until yesterday (4/23/2008) that not only did I still have a balance but that I was now being charged an extra $444 in interest. I talked to three different customer service reps on the phone and all three were rude and refused to even consider sympathizing with my predicament. They made it clear to me that I was horrible person for not keeping a closer eye on my statements despite the fact that I was told that the minimum would be enough to complete payment on the credit line in two years. They also asked me why I waited 18 days to call them. I said that I just received the statement yesterday so this was the soonest I could call. I asked repeatedly for help since I was actively trying to resolve the issue and admitting my mistake rather than avoiding payment. Again, they implied that I was a horrible person and they would do nothing at all to help me. It seems to me that the minimum was purposely calculated at a rate that would be too low to complete paying off the couch in two years. In this manner, Wells Fargo could catch people like me and charge 20% interest. If I had known that my payments were too low I would have increased them but Wells Fargo never let me know this. They refused to grant me any leniency even though I offered to pay the principal balance in full. They obviously do not care to keep customers. They'd much prefer to lose a customer forever over a matter of $444 in interest that would have been easy to forgive.

Unethical lending and collecting practices!
I have also purchased furniture and was approved through Wells Fargo Financial. After cruising through the first few months without any issues, my bills either did not come in until they were past due, or did not come in at all. I checked with the post office who said there were no delays in mail to my area, and then spoke to Wells Fargo. I received nothing but excuses and was told to check with the local post office. After a brief conversation on why I could not receive a bill on time, but I could get a courtesy call after the bill was due, the subject turned to a $10.00 fee for running a check by phone and why the website is severely behind (it has no information ever) in showing account balances, due dates, and other very useful information in making on time payments. I was told that they would be getting the information soon, but to this day they have not carried on their promise to include important account information on their site. Recently I have found that if I lose my password to the site, keeping in mind I don't receive bills more than I do, I need a bill with my account number on it just to get a phone number to call to unlock my account, but can only do it during normal banking hours. There are so many roadblocks to keep you from paying on time, it is a battle to keep the account current even if you have money to pay the bill and pay more than what is owed every month. I do not recommend this company, will not recommend this company, and plan on paying this company off in the next couple months and never doing business with them or their affiliates every again. Customer service is way below par, convenience is unheard of, and general business practices that should be designed to attract repeat customers are nonexistent, including treating their customers like humans who make some mistakes. I rate them under insurance companies and auto accident attorneys on the moral ethics rating of business. There needs to be a law that regulates businesses like them who preditorily operate on the verge of fraud to collect extra money on loans by using little tricks and tactics to extort their customers. Wells Fargo Financial needs to get a grip on reality and realize we will not stand for this. Please email this to anyone who needs to make an educated decision on obtaining a personal loan from this company. The only way to combat this is to spread the word. If I am losing $1500 to Wells Fargo, I will make sure to steer at least $4500 of business away from their company. If everyone follows through with this, they will not be able to continue to do business without having the easy customers they have preyed upon for as long as they have. Don't just stand there and be idle. Don't do business with realtors who do business with them, companies who offer their loans, or people who recommend using them. Blacklist them. Plain and simple.

General complaint!
My mother and I purchased two vehicles via our mechanic and WFF was the lender. One Christmas we needed money and was offered a refinance. After all the money we have paid into the vehicles, at a high interest rate, we only got $1000. Then when I purchased a car for my daughter they again, looking for business, asked about refinancing her car. I could get as much as $1500 out. I said okay. But then the rep called back she said she could only get me $900. I told her never mind and that's when she told me that it was too late, she had put through all the paperwork and had caused the loan to be refinanced and paid off. I was furious, I told her. Although I had agreed to the refinance, no one had contacted me about the details and I did not give the okay to refinance to receive that little amount. Then in 2002, my ex husband was injured on the job and for the past 5 years (until February 2007), he was unable to work. Thus, I received no child support and had to place our children on my medical insurance. I suffered a loss of over $800 a month and was behind in my car note in or about 2005. For more than two years WFF harassed me night and day with their incessant phone calls. When we did answer the phone, half the time no one said anything. I sent letters keeping them apprised of my situation and called them often. They rarely noted my file as they said they would. In October 2007, they repossessed my cars - 7 months before the payoff date, knowing that they could probably sell the cars and receive a better value for them. I had to borrow the money from my boss who then scolded me for not asking earlier for the money. I had to place a stop payment on the last check for $900 I had sent them. When I did that, I received a check from WFF to reimburse me for the $900. When I called them to find out how to return the check, they refused to take it back saying I was owed the money. I returned the check and then got that check back and another one. Then I spoke to a rep who said to deposit the checks. When I did, they had placed a stop payment on one (which cost me $20) and then after two months of trying to return the first check, I get a call saying I was behind by $1720.56, which was the amount of my note plus the $900. I informed me that I had mailed the note which they should have received and I explained to the rep about the $900. She then transferred me to somebody else. By the end of the call, I had spoken to 4 people of which only 1 knew what had happened. Of course, I got the usual, we will note to your file, but they hadn't. I told them that I bank with a credit union (Honda) and the credit union was on holiday hours and I could not get into to get a cashier's check until the January 2. I got the check January 3 and mailed it. Between the holidays and mid February, I was harassed about the check which they received January 8 and cashed January 9. No one could find a record of the check being received. And to top it off, they charged for late fees for a mistake they made which I tried to straighten out. Finally when it was straightened out and they reversed the late fees, I was told me not to complain by the rep who had reversed the fees when I asked why I was charged anyway for a mistake they made. I should be happy that she was doing me this favor.

For two years they did nothing, until a few months before the scheduled payoff date. Ironically, I had coordinated my bills so that I would have finally brought the account current by December 2007.

They scammed me on the refinancing, their representatives were rude, they harassed and harassed continually. When my car is finally paid in full in May 2008, I will never ever do business again with Wells Fargo or Wells Fargo Financial. Amazing how they want your business and as soon as you hit a financial bind you are treated as though you are a criminal. I wasn't avoiding payment of my bill. I was suffering a hardship and no matter how many times I explained that to them, they faked the sympathy and understanding and continued to harass me.

Mortgage and credit assault of sold loans!
After re-financing my home in Jan. '06, my loan was sold by GMAC Mortgage to ASC (Nightmare Company). Since Jan. '06 I'd never been greater than thirty-days late for my mortgage payment. While traveling for work, I made arrangements with my county's tax department to pay my property taxes, albeit late, I'd be assessed the fees. ASC decided to 'exercise its vested-interest and pay my property taxes, not only the delinquent ones, but the current year's (early) and the ensuing year's taxes. My present would be an escrow account in which that affixes interest to. Therefore, the original tax fees due now are assessed with interest rate. Once I realized this, I attempted to solve my taxed bill with the company but was told that because I was in default and that it was necessary for ASC to intervene to bring my taxes current, I'd have to remain in an escrow account for an additional year from the date the repayment was implemented. The company has full sovereignty to attach interest to future tax dollars as well as past ones until Nov. '09.

So, shy of a re-fi, what do you do, suck it up and wait until the market tapers off and your house is within the eighty-five-percent margin of equity worthy refinance qualifying status. To make matters worse, I was/am set for an adjustment on my ARM March '08. The increase on my mortgage will be an excess of greater than $1100.00 with the tax fees. Since I'd never been late on this mortgage I attempted to renegotiate a better mortgage rate. That was flatly denied and it was suggested to me to go in default of my loan and once it solely reflected on my credit report that the company may reconsider. I thought this to be ridiculous so I retained an attorney. The customer service agents at ASC decided to be as diligent with my attorney as they'd been with me. They gave him the run around, refused to allow him to speak to management and finally suggested that I authorize him to have access to my account so that they may perhaps initiate a 'modification-program.'

The result of that January '08 request has yielded the following, a declaration on my credit report that I was greater than thirty-days late because I stopped the payment of my mortgage check until we could negotiate, per my attorney's advice. The repayment of the stopped-check, payment of both Feb. and March '08 mortgage at the adjustable rates that had reset to greater than $1100 of my previous mortgage. A decrease of my FICO score with Equifax by eighty-nine points because of the "one-time report." My Equifax score has pummeled from the highest of the six-hundred range to the median of the five-hundred range, all because of this one event.

An attempt to correspond with Wells Fargo's (ASC) Chairman, Kovacevich, CEO/President, Stumpf, CFO, Atkins, CCO, Loughlin, Gen. Counselor Strother, Federal Trade Commission Chairman, Majoras, Secretary of Treasury, Paulson, FL, CFO Sink, FL Gov. Crist, FL Attorney Gen., McCollum, Tax Collector Belden and Federal Comptroller Dugan yielded one consistent result. The delegating of task to someone other than the addressed Executive or Bureaucratic contact I'd intended the correspondence for. To boot, I am now being reported by ASC to the credit agencies as delinquent on my mortgage account because the company, once again, with full sovereignty to destroy your credit is stating in my mortgage file that I have $xxxx in SUSPENSE BALANCE. I've been miserably paying the mortgage the company's assigned and it's flat out falsifying that I’m delinquent on that very amount, of which ASC has cashed checks for.

The news reports that hold up Wells Fargo, Bank America, Countrywide and some of the other mortgage companies supposedly attempting to help its consumers is propaganda that the news reports are utilizing to keep its ratings up. I know from my experience that these banks and its executives, and to that end, the bureaucrats do not care what happen to honest hard working Americans attempting to keep their investments in tact.

Finally, why should I ever believe anything that Geri Willis of CNN ever has to state when, I'd attempted to contact her on enumerable occasions in Jan. and Feb.'08 for the real life nightmare of this consumer, when this consumer was indeed doing all that was recommended to do.

America's Servicing Company is an high-tech-Federally protected loan-sharking company that it’s Executive Board Members and Wells Fargo Investors should be proud of. It's working hard to destroy people and its investors are benefiting. What a nightmare, may God help all of us!

Representatives rude harassing!
When i received the call, there was silence and then a voice said loudly, HELLO, i said, HELLO, she said, Is this Tamika, I responded yes... I could tell that this was not going to go well. Here we go, I received a call today about 11:45 a/m. CST from a collections representative in regards to an amount of $800.00 being past due on my car note 33 days. I informed her that $380.00 was paid by Money Gram 1/18/2008 and $200.00 was set up online Sunday for the total December loan of $571.00. She informed me that she did not care about the $200 until she saw the payment post, my account was still in collections. I asked if I could give her the online confirmation #, she said that it did not matter until the payment posts I would remain in collections. She asked why I was late, I informed her that I did not have the money right then and where was the car located. Trying to intimidate me, i asked if she was going to pick up the car, she said no. She asked did I get hours cut at work or something like that, I told her no. She screamed at me why don't you have the money. I am a very personal person and i don't offer information to strangers at all.

I lost my cousin, more like my brother on New Year's Eve and I was out of town for almost 2 weeks. I am just now starting to get things together. She put me on hold and came back to inform me that I was not eligible for an extension... first of all, I did not ask for an extension. She then went on to say that I will still be in collections for the January payment (due 1/19) today is 1/22. She asked when I would be able to pay it, I gave her a date and she asked very sarcastically, "Well is next months payment going to be on time?" I politely said "I hope so", thanked her for calling and hung up.

I know these people have jobs to do, but I am in collections and I know that you can get more with respect than you can with disrespect and spiteful attitudes. I am tired of this and called today to see if I can trade in my car or have my credit union to refinance.

Bad service!
We recently talked with Wells Fargo about refinancing a vehicle, we were told we were approved, but my husband and I were not thrilled with the terms and conditions - so we declined... a few days late, we thought about it again and emailed the loan officer and said we were still interested if it wasn't too late - she said come on in, THE OFFER IS STILL ON THE TABLE... so we found a babysitter and went back in - after an HOUR of sitting there waiting for paperwork and such, CIndy comes back and says we are not approved... NOTHING HAD CHANGED IN THE FEW DAYS SINCE THE LAST APPROVAL AND SHE HAD SAID THE OFFER IS STILL ON THE TABLE... we are done with them!

Scam and cheating!
I have two loans with Wells Fargo, both at 20.90% interest rates. I had some personal issues for a bout a month, and was not able to make any payment to them during that time. I kept in communication with them, called and got on a payment arrangement for hardship plan. I held up my end of the bargain, and was told come Jan 2008 my payments would be back to 135.00 a month, and my accounts would be current. Then I get harassing , non stop calls from the collections dept, the day after my last payment posted on this plan, and they had the nerve to tell me, THEY MESSED UP, because i was never eligible for that plan, that my credit with them wasn't that outstanding. But they said since I held up my end of the deal, they would send an email to their management, to get my account current. O.k. fine.

The next morning 12/31/07, starting at 9am, these people are calling non stop, hanging up on me when I call. I called them, spoke to a very ignorant person, who told me the calls would continue , until they fixed the problem. EXCUSE ME! I said, (by this time I am irate, have the flu, and cannot do stupid today at all)... this is your mistake, my account shows I have held up my end, and my next payment regardless if they fix or not is not due until 01/22/08!!! o why am I getting the harassing phone calls, I want to talk to a manager now!!!!.... The collection agent asked me why??? I told him because he isn't understanding the issue I have I want a manager now... he said "CALL BACK THAN!!! BECAUSE I WON'T GET A MANAGER FOR THIS!!!... and hung up.

So in the meantime I will be fighting this with WELLS FARGO FINANCIAL... UNTIL RESOLVED... because they are so unprofessional, and ignorant. I am just in shock over this phone call and want everyone to know what kind of scam this bank is.

Thanks,
Alicia from Colorado

39.5% interest charged
I originally got a car loan through WF for a high interest rate, and 2 years later traded it off. The amount owing and the worth of the car resulted in me owing about $7000 more on the trade-in. I am currently paying over 19,000 for a car worth only 12,000 (maybe), I have never missed a payment. I applied for a loan recently and expected an interest rate of about 19%, however I made the mistake of not asking what the interest rate was, just being glad I was approved. I traveled 2.5 hours and upon signing the papers I noticed I was paying 39.5 % interest. The lowest term they could offer was for 48 months which on a 3500.00 loan addes up to 3515.15 in interest over the course of the term. So a 3500 loan costs you 7,015.15 , Buyer Beware!, this is a mountain of debt. in the end. I did sign but I will paying this out as soon as possible.

Using consolidation schemes to trick consumers!
We have a small loan through Wells Fargo (was $1100... now down to $840) which we have been paying on time, actually early, and paying about $10 extra each month. I was contacted by a representative (Pete) via phone from their St. Cloud, MN office to see if I wanted another loan since we had been paying on time and such. I told him we were doing fine, so "no". He then asked if we would consider a consolidation loan, as it might help us reduce our high interest credit card payments. (We do have several credit cards... as I went to graduate school and graduated with my master's last year, so accumulated some debt along the way.) We thought it might be nice to have it all lumped into one payment (consolidated) with lower interest, so we decided to hear him out, as we will soon be moving into our new house, so would love fewer payments. He asked us to come into his office and bring our car title, pay stubs, and insurance slip for the car, as it might be a source of collateral. We figured we would do it to see what they could offer us. (Note... we have 3 years left to pay on our car on a 6 year loan at 9%; we have $2900. in equity in the car). Since we have not had a late payment on anything in over 3 years, we hoped for a good offer. He asked us what we wanted when we got there... we told him to consolidate into a lower interest loan- to avoid several small payments, and instead have one. After almost 2 hours of sitting in his office (he was 'downstairs' talking to an underwriter), he finally brought in an offer. They would refinance our car with a 66 month loan at 18%. We could then take the equity ($2900) and use it to pay off a few small credit cards. They also would offer us a $5000. credit line to pay off some others. I asked the percentage rate... 20.998% was the offer!!! We nearly fell off of our chairs. This is higher than any of our credit cards, and the car loan was a joke at 18%. We just got up and walked out the door. We couldn't believe that they would think we would fall for this!!! Obviously, they were not thinking of our needs... only how they could make huge amounts of money off of interest on us! Buyer Beware!!! We will pay off our credit cards on our own... we are doing it fine now. We certainly DON'T need to make Wells Fargo rich in the process.
