Stay away from them
I banked at a different bank but Wells fargo bought them out. I have overdraft protection, which I found out they charge 10.00 each time they transfer your own money, and 3.00 a month for the service. On top of which, I was charged 35.00 5 times for 5 checks that were 2.00 and 3.15, all the checks were worth 15.00 total, that they didnt pay and sent back to the vendor, when I had money in another acct, and didnt even send the alert until the 27th, but they bounced all these on the 25th of Dec.I think it is wrong, and should be against the law, that they are allowed to bleed people with all these excessive fees, when people are struggling right now.

Modification rip offf
My story is so similar to everyone who assumed wells Fargo new anything about fair practic act.
Got fired
got behind
asked for modification
they asked for insurance claims
and paid the taxes you see they knew they wanted this home
they asked for the same paper over a year.
sold my home after saying we are going to do everything to keep you in your home
blah blah blah.
foreclosed after not missing a payment for over ten years
paying extra on the loan almost each month
paying when we did not even live in the home
for over a year due to a fire.
Now what I need to know is what is the note. and how do i find out who really owns the note. My original loan was with wamu.

Some of my payments are not showing in their payment history
I have an auto loan with Wells Fargo. I did receive two deferments from them in the past. One was when my wife could not work while she was pregnant; the other was when I had lost my job of many years. The original contract was extended four months and that time was added to the end of the loan. When the loan matured they said I still owed around 2800.00 and they wanted it in a balloon payment. (SURPRISE) I told them I was planning on making regular payments until it was paid off. I was told it was unsatisfactory and they have started reporting my payments as of now 60 days late. They said they will continue to list the loan as late until it’s paid in full. I got to wondering what was going on and looked on their website to see their payment summery for the loan. I noticed that when the payments first began, I received credit for making 4 payments within 10 months. That is ridiculous because if I only made four payments in 10 months the car would have been taken a long time ago! So after talking in circles many times with different people a supervisor told me I would be sent an audit of the entire account. Well the time has come and gone when I should have received one and now the supervisor is unavailable. I tried to talk to another supervisor and he would not give me his name and just kept giving me another phone number and eventually hung up on me. He sounded very arrogant and I am worried that even though I have told them I will pay the balance in less than 30 days that they will still come get the car. I will never do business with them again since they are not willing to show me how my account is only showing 4 payments in 10 months. I am simply guessing that since they don’t want to talk about it and I haven’t received an audit, they have been playing with the numbers to get more money. Creditors really seem like vultures now a days and I recommend getting out from under their thumb as soon as possible. Micheal Wilder / facebook Memphis area

Overdraft Protection
I was a Wachovia customer, happy enough truthfully no complaints. I have an overdraft protection on my checking account, this way if I overdraw the overdraft protection kicks in. For many many years I have had this, if I knew I was running into issues, I would transfer money from my overdraft protection to cover checks, usually would only need it for a few days and then I would transfer it back and pay the overdraft account back. The fee for this was $10.00, if I did not pay back within a few days I would be charged similar to a credit card a percentage rate per day, so it made sense to me to pay it back within a few days. Now that Wachovia is now Wells Fargo I continued to work with my bank account in the same manner, I would transfer money when I thought there would be an issue and transfer it back within days. Wells Fargo all of a sudden now considers this a cash advance with a $250.00 fee to do so. When I called to complain I was told I was informed of this and nothing can or would be done. I had the money overdraft protection money for two days and then it was paid back, they didn't care and when I told them I would move to another bank they didn't care about this either. Once I use up my checks that I just paid for I will definitely move to another bank, who wants to do business with thieves!!!

taking money from my account
These people have been taking money from my account steady for the last three years or more. I could not get a hold of them, no matter how much I tried. I did not know anything about them, and my bank would not help me. I called my bank this morning and that is how I found out that Wells Fargo was collecting for Huntington National Bank. The lady gave me an account number and everything. It all has something to do with credit cards, I don't have any. I was trying to see if I could find out anything more about them online, but I keep getting sites like this one. They do not have a contact phone number. I am going to contact a lawyer after I call the Huntington Bank. This is all rediculous. I am also going to contact the Preident, because he signed a bill to stop people like this from harrassing you. I hope everyone has gotten the money they have lost and to also have a good day.

Lies, cover up, and more lies
I got a 203K home loan through WF. It has been a nightmare from day one! My real estate agent, lawyer, and contractor had NEVER experienced such a difficult and lengthy closing. I closed over a month later than promised. After we got the "clear to close", they decided they still needed more information. At first I was told I would have 6 months to complete my project but after I closed I was told 3 months and the paperwork I signed ended up saying 4 months. I guess that part was my own "bad" because I probably should have read everything more thoroughly. Well, it took over 2 weeks to get the initial portion of the money I was supposed to get at my closing, they never gave me my second installment and now I got a letter saying that I did not follow the terms of the loan and they will foreclose on me. I am beyond frustrated with the rude, disrespectful, and anything but helpful disbursement specialists who seemingly go out of their way to make things harder. When you're renovating your first home, you need support. Not people making things more difficult. I asked to work with a more respectful agent and got no where. They have made so many mistakes and so many aspects of this process have "slipped through the cracks" and been covered up, its ridiculous. I would NEVER recommend working with WF. An employee of WF told me she refers her friends and family elsewhere due to the practices she has witnessed.

Incompetence
I recently went into this Wells Fargo branch to drop off a deposit for the company I work for. While in the bank, one of the tellers asked me why I have no account. I explained to her I had a debt with their company over 2 yrs ago when i was younger and last time I had opened an account they withdrew over $100 from my account without notice leaving me in dire straints financially for weeks. It took me a month to recover, I have a strict budget and savings plan. She told me with my permission she could review my account and find out how much I owe them in order to fix the debt and open a new account to set up direct deposit. So later that day I returned to the bank, and the tellers rushed to tell me the "good news". "You actually have a positive balance in a closed account! All we have to do is open you up a new account and you can withdraw the cash on Friday [I went in on a wednesday]" Keep in mind the whole 'We have to open you an account and then we can get you the money...' So I asked a few times before agreeing to anything that I did not owe them money. I even reitterated the fact that it didn't make sense to me, she ASSURED me there would be no problem, and that I DID NOT owe them money anymore!!! So I agree to let them set up the account, then i planned to withdraw the cash first thing on friday and then close the account again, because wells fargo has ALWAYS completely screwed me (pardon the lack of other word) SO sure enough Thursday I go into the bank and recieve $125 of the $325 they owed me. This morning [Friday] I go to check the balance, I had a horrible feeling it had happened AGAIN, and sure enough, $0 balance, and a withdrawal from Wells Fargo to compensate my OLD account which I owed money on.. HA. Knew it. Worst part is, that was my rent money. With no family to help me out, this is fantastic. Due to the NEGLIGENCE, selfishness, and INCOMPETENCE of the teller who ruined my month, my WELL BEING is now affected. So again, I was told BY a banker, NUMEROUS times, in fact, was ASSURED that I no longer owed Wells Fargo money, when I in fact did! Upon speaking with this teller, she sadly informed me theres nothing they can do. The money is gone. When I asked "So I am screwed?" Her reply was puppy dog eyes and no response... until I said "right?" and she replied yes.
Who else should I trust to know where my account stands other than a banker??? And if they don't even have the ability to catch that I owe them money, something is very wrong. How could you possibly trust a BANK who can't tell if you OWE them MONEY! And why didn't she just give me the cash which they SHOULD HAVE DONE in the FIRST place, OH because she was too focused on her agenda of the commision for openeing a new account. Total B.S. Well, they know I work at a Law Firm, so they are in a for a nice little battle. If you want to be able to SLEEP at night with YOUR money in a bank, DO NOT use wells fargo. They obviousely are not competent to handle something so delicate.

Cashier's check -- security bond
I sold my car to a private party and received a cashier's check for $13, 000 drawn on a Wells Fargo account. Before the check could be deposited (within 2 hours) it was lost. I immediately notified the buyer (who has the account at Wells Fargo) and he immediately notified Wells Fargo (within 4 hours) The two of us went to Wells Fargo to discuss the situation with the bank manager. This is where my saga begins.
We were told that the buyer (I'll call him Joe) could purchase a security bond at Wells Fargo (WF) for 2% of the check value ($262) and WF would immediately reissue the check. "The Hartford" is the institution issuing the security bond. Joe needed to acquire the security bond since he had the account at WF. I paid $262 to Joe (after all, it was my fault) and he filled out paperwork and purchased the bond.
Several days passed. No word from anyone. I asked Joe about the status. Joe became alarmed when he studied the fine print from the Hartford regarding the bond. He freaked out when he interpreted the verbiage to say the HE was liable for the $13, 000 if the lost check was cashed. This is not what we were told by WF.
Joe and I went to another WF branch (where I have more confidence) and asked the questions. The personal banking representaive was helpful, knowledgeable and very attentive...even though this wasn't 'his' problem. Although he was careful not to step on toes of the first WF bank, the loan officer had the personal opinion that the check should have been reissued by now and that the security bond protected Joe in cash the lost check was cashed. He checked and discovered that the $13, 000 check had NOT been reissued and the the $262 payment for the security bond had NOT been cashed. We had received no information from the originating WF branch. Joe was not satisfied and kept pushing and asking to see written documents that explained liability in cash the lost check was cashed. The 'good' WF branch also determined that a 'do not pay' order had been issued for the lost check.
At the bottom of the paperwork was a contact phone number for the Hartford and I called them. (what a novel idea :-) )O ONE at WF had contacted the Hartford for clarification or for information on paperwork required, review and approval criteria or how the process worked.
These are the FACTS that I discovered -- and are contradictory to the information we were given by WF. Via the Hartford's phone number, there was a recorded message with an detailed description of the steps that needed to be followed. Apparently WF was unaware.
1) The security bond protects WF, not Joe. 2) The security bond enables WF to cut another check quickly, thats ALL IT DOES. However if the first, lost check, is found and cashed, Joe is liable for reimbursing WF The $262 payment allows the new check to be issued-- nothing more. 3) the Paperwork to request the security bond should have included Joe's financial statement (it did not). The Hartford requires Joe to have 2x the value of the security bond in his account for them to 'authorize' the bond. He does not so the Hartford would have never approved the security bond. 4) the paperwork should have been faxed to the Hartford for an immediate decision -- THEN, if approved, we would pay the $262.00. (it was sent hardcopy mail). 4) The Hartford's representative called me and explained the process. (Thank you) Apparently Joe is liable to WF for the 'lost check' for a specified period of time -- one person said 90 days another said 6 months. (I need to get accurate information on this.) ANYONE can purchase the security bond -- not only the person with the account at WF or the person who initiated the first check...and a number of institutions offer them. The only true requirement is that WF accept it.
So, after two weeks and a lot of frustration, I am back at square one and have absolutely no confidence in any information from WF. I have the choice of spending $262 to get a check reissued, but Joe is liable for the $13000 for a period of time. WF has issued a 'do not pay' notice for the lost check -- but they guarantee nothing. Apparently they don't believe in their own processes.
SO, the bottom line is this -- sweet and simple. If you lose a cashier's check you can consider the money lost until some unknown time-frame passes. Even though a 'do not pay' notice is issued by the bank, even though you purchase a security bond, and even though you can get a new check issues within a few days/weeks. ...you cannot be sure that the lost check is truly dead for a long time.
Now I need to find out what is needed to cause the check to be reissued after the unknown time period passes. Please pray for me in getting accurate information from Wells Fargo.
And, yes, I've learned my lesson about being careless. And, yes, I am thankful that it is possible that I might be able to recover the money.

messed up my credit score
four months ago I received a notice that my son was not enrolled, make payments immediately or this would turn into a delinquent credit activity that would be notified to financial bureau. I called letting them know that he was enrolled, fax them the verification that he is enrolled. They kept sending me letters. I kept calling them back. Their excused was that they had so many requests for student loans that it would take them 6 to 8 weeks to change the information and to notify the bureau. My score went down to 720. Because I have three non-payments reported by Wells Fargo. One of my credit cards lower my line of credit from 24000 to 700 because of this. Called them again and said they had proceed to change my status but that it will take 6 weeks for the bureau to modify my credit score. Their procedures are slow to rectify but fast to go get you.

MORTGAGE MODIFICATION
After getting my mortgage in 1982, I have never had one late payment. The mortgage is paid up to date and I have excellent credit scores. Due to loss of my job, now at a lower income, I tried for a HAMP modification. After calling W.F. over 100 times, and sending all the required documents, I was denied a modification. Then about one week ago, WELLS FARGO calls and tells me that they reviewed my info, will reduce my 7.2% APR to 4.25, and modify my loan. So I call the W.F. mortgage officer who then tells me it was all a mistake. WELLS FARGO has been the absolute WORST company I have ever dealt with. Customer service is unbelievably POOR. WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! I would encourage anyone to stay clear of WELLS FARGO!! TERRIBLE-TERRIBLE BANK--NO CUSTOMER SERVICE--COMPLETE LIARS!!
