Wells Fargo Reviews

Overdraft fees
I recently moved and changed
my bank to Wells Fargo because my old bank (20 years) did not have a branch near my new home. In the 4 months I have been at WF, I have been hit with 3 OD fees. I use my debit card most of the time and check my account several times a day. I note my balance, what cleared and what is pending. Most recently, I wrote a $20 check on a Thursday night and my paycheck direct deposited at 12:01 Friday. They bounced the check, citing "day of origination" even though there was ample money to cover the check by the time it posted. I had money in savings, and didn't think I needed to transfer since
y paycheck was going to be deposited in a matter of hours. In
my 30+ years of banking, I had never heard of this, nor has it ever happened to me before. I had $18.98 in checking with nothing pending and $3560 in savings. What is "date of origination?" I called a local credit union (where I wi be banking from now on) and they never heard of this either. They go by what is in your account when the check/debit posts.

Improper Lending Procedures
I have monthly MI on my loan that I have requested to be dropped. MI can be dropped once the LTV is below 80%. I am a mortgage Loan Processor and I have seen this every day where lenders will drop MI once the LOan to Value is low enough. I have requested they remove this to save my family $55 a month. I owe $123, 000 and my home is worth $180, 000. Even the TAX VALUE on my home is $164, 000 and that rate puts the Loan to Value at 75%. They will not drop it. I even sent them the information directly from the FHA/HUD site that says MI can be dropped once the LTV is at 90% or lower. They will not drop it or even evaluate it by sending an appraiser to the home to verify the value.

Mortgage Modification
I have tried to get my mortgage with Wells Fargo modified for at least 7 months and have called once a week for that period of time. I recently received a letter stating that I might be eligible for a modification, but when I called, they said that I had too much debt (!) to qualify, but that my rates are still under review. Not only are they uncooperative, but the person i spoke to was rude. I need to get some help here. I am current on my mortgage, but because of reductions in my employment, i will surely be facing foreclosure soon!

Out of control thieves
Wells Fargo recently sent us a check for 4 months mortgage payments that we made on time and over the required payment amount...along with a FORECLOSURE NOTICE!!!
This company is out of control!!
Then yesterday we get this letter from a place called HOPE that says they are an organization who helps people who cant pay their mortgage...and Wells Fargo is one of the banks who are in their program.
First of all, we werent behind on our payments, and secondly, Wells Fargo has no business saying they are part of an organization who cares about people...they are clueless, and their actions are nothing short of terrorizing people who they think cannot afford to fight them.
I am going to email the White house every day until they finally get these banks, who were bailed out with our money, to stop cheating people while they are living high on the money that was suppose to be helping US their customers!! Anyone with a complaint...PLEASE join me in an email fight against Wells Fargo...email the White House every day!!!

Overcharged
I had been a customer at Wells Fargo for over 15 years when I went through a nasty divorce. I noticed right away I was treated differently as my ex- got the business and all the money even though they had only dealt with me. In November of 2008 the bank misplaced my deposit of 10, 000.00 and even with a receipt in hand they would not credit my account. The bank manager asked me to leave the receipts with him while it was researched while over the next three months sending me home with a dept phone number and no money in hand.

While this was happening my credit card was overdrafting to the tune of 17000.00 and in late December of 05 I received another phone call stating I never made my payment. I had all my accounts on auto pay and had over 20000.00 in the bank.It was a Saturday when i got the call that i had not made my payment and after everything was said and done I found out i was overdrawn. The following Monday I spent 6 hours in branch, The teller took my money and then asked me for exactly the same amount for my checking. I questioned why I would pay both my credit card and checking account and so we began out inquiry. I found out i had overdrafted my credit card over 17k and no one had told me. They rewarded me once again by recharging my credit card which overdrafted again and charged off my account. was pissed.

I went to another san ramon branch and begin trying to straighted out this mess. I could not and it continued to snow ball into my business accounts. Even though i took everything off auto pay the bank helped themselves to another payment and overdrew my business account. They then closed those accounts and turned me into telecheck even though they were the ones who over drew me. The bank president has been working with me on this mess since Dec and it is still not resolved.

Last week the same overdrafted credit card was turned over to there recovery dept which in turn is now suing me.They informed me there was no fraud because the overdraft came from my checking account even though I have a fraud claim filed.

Bottom line in 2 months i went from having a credit score of 800 to 580 and the refuse to correct there mistake.

Unauthorized charges
The normal withdrawal limit per transaction with my out of town bank is $800. I bank with a 'checkless bank account' through RushCard (Russell Simmon's pre-paid account where my direct deposits go into twice a month that way I don't have to worry about checks bouncing).

Every payday I withdraw $800 each time to avoid excessive withdrawal fees and pay cash for everything. This last time I went to withdraw from a local Wells Fargo bank, it processed the transaction as if it had given me the money but gave me an error stating the machine was out of money yet it still withdrew the money from my balance. I contacted Wells Fargo right away and they said there wasn't anything they could do and that I had to contact my own bank. So I did, they told me to wait 48 hours and see if the money posts back into my account which it didn't.

I sent in a copy of the Error Allegation form and ATM receipt to my bank about 10 days ago. They kept assuring me the claim was being processed and the maximum time would be 48 hours until I receive the money back in my account.

Today I found out that this is not so since the receipt from the ATM shows it gave me the money. My bank is now telling me the process can take up to 90 days. This is ridiculous. It shouldn't be that hard to figure out on their daily balance transaction at Wells Fargo, not to mention there are cameras. They can review the tape and see that it never gave me the money.

We aren't talking about $40 here but $800 and for me to have to wait up to 90 days for a reimbursement on money that is FDIC insured is completely unacceptable.

Has this happened to other consumers with other financial institutions or even with Wells Fargo??? I'd like to know what the process is and time frame for resolving something like this.

Any information or assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Wells Fargo Stole $3000 From Me!
On July 27, 2009 my husband and I deposited $3300(all $100 bills...stupid I know!) into a Wells Fargo ATM machine. On August 8, 2009 I notice when I checked my balance online that my deposit had been adjusted it and the deposit only reflected $300. I discovered this on my own and Wells Fargo never once notified me! When I filed my claim the representative that I spoke with said that it was odd that there was anything written down to explain why the deposit was adjusted. And when I finally went down to the branch where I had made the deposit they told me that two people initialed that there was only $300 in mydeposit. Today I contacted the claims department and found out my claim was denied because I had never made such a large cash deposit!!! This is a crime and I will do everything in my powerto receive the money back.

Getting ahold of someone /Returning a phone call
I have been with Wells Fargo for almost three years. At first I had no problems with them.
Since that time, my husband and I have made out all the papers asking for a "Hardship" with our loan. We were not asking to have the money forgotten, just have our monthly payment reduced so we could get caught up. After about two months of not knowing, we got a phone call telling us we did not qualify for anything. BUT, they could help us out by automaticly taking out the payment. With no other choice in the matter, I agreed. The first two months went by with no problems. The third month, was hell. They not only took one payment out, but then another, and another. Or I should say, they tried. But since I do not carry that much of a balance in my checking account, two of the auto checks bounced. With all of my other monthly bills. I should mention that the monthly payment is $1717.83. Triple that now!!
I called and I called. With each time I was told things would be taken care of. The short of it, I was late one day for work because the person on the phone kept telling me it was alright. And not to worry. Just to call my creditors and tell them my story. I told her I was not going to do so and it was not their problem.
I was told to send proof of all I had been yelling about and she would see I got my money back. Two phone calls later, I got my NSF charges back.
Now?? I submitted a payment of $1718.00 on the date it was due, and waitted toill the next month only to find out that a payment of 17cents was credited to our account. I called of course, got a phone number of the Suppivisor of the person I had been talking to. Left a message after the voice told me that I be gotten back to within 24 hours. We are working on 36 hours now.
I am so fed up with this stuff. I hope someone can help me with my problem. The situtuation here in this town are not the best. Almost afraid to try to refinace.
I am going to leave my email addy in hopes of [email protected]
Thank you

Predatory practices
I am writing to get the story out regarding the systematic predatory practices of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. My story has been confirmed by others like me, as I am finding on the internet.

I live in a single family home in Oceanside that I have owned since 2002. The end of last year, I had financial difficulty and started falling behind in my payments. This is when the economy took a serious downturn. I had a home loan that had some back property taxes being put into my monthly payment. This made my payment close to the maximum I could afford.

At that point I called Wells Fargo to see about a modification of my loan. I provided all my monthly information including all expenses and incomes and was told that I qualified for a modification and was quoted a new monthly payment that was within my budget. This modification did not include any reduction in principle, it was just a new 30 year loan with my back taxes rolled into the loan.

That is when my hell started. Since that point in October, I have been in a constant back and forth, bait and switch situation. There are many details that I have, including all the dates that I called (Ive called over 100 times), but I will just provide a summary here. From the beginning days, I was told NOT to make a payment as this would stop the modification process. As time when on, I even tried to send in payments and they were returned to me. I was at one point in their modification process, then removed from the process for not having all the documents. Then I started the process all over again, only to wait and wait and wait. Each time I call, I get different information, and I have never been allowed to talk to the actual agent assigned to my case. Now, I can't make any payments and my home is set to be sold in about 2 weeks. I have always been able to make a payment almost equal to my full payment, but now I owe over $24K, not to mention all the fees that have been added to my account by the foreclosure company.

Yesterday I received a letter on my door that my home will be sold on June 11, 2009 unless I come up with the $24K+ plus that has accumulated. I called Wells Fargo today was told that they may not come up with a response back to me until the day of the sale. Obviously, that would not give me time to pay to keep my house from being sold from under my feet and have me and my family thrown out.

I have lost sleep and am suffering from the stress of this situation on a daily basis. No one at Wells Fargo will tell me what is going on, no matter how many people I go to. I can only assume by the way I was brought into this process and then kept in the process with no other options, that Wells Fargo has put into practice an illegal practice of dealing with customers in this fashion.

I desperately need help and I think the media has an obligation to report this.. Wells Fargo led me down this path by telling me not to pay, and now I am possibly going to lose my home, and I have no way to get them to work with me. Where is the responsibility on Wells Fargo after receiving $25B in bailout tax dollars??
