I have a checking account with Wells Fargo for about a year now and it has been nothing but a hassle, they charge a fee for everything! First of all a customer can not use the check card as a debit card because when the merchant swipes it, it is then processed as a credit card so the bank will avoid a processing fee. Because of this the customer can not get any cash back after a purchase because that procedure is only valid with a check card (which is what this is in the first place a card that deducts an amount form my checking). Next I received a $1.50 charge on my account for a Canadian deposit; I have never deposited any sort of Canadian currency or checks to my account. So I had to go to the office and explain this charge on my account that was not applicable, well after about an hour or searching for a Canadian deposit they realized that I had not made one, and refunded me the $1.50. The amount of this charge was minimal but it was the fact that I had to wait there for an hour for them to decide if they can refund me the $1.50 to my account. Finally I had deposited a $7.00 check and it ended up being INSF so Wells Fargo cashed it and charged me $12.00 for the check. There was a $5.00 fee for cashing the check and I was also responsible for collecting the $7.00 from the people that wrote me the check. This makes no sense at all why am I responsible for someone else’s checking account, and further more if there was no money in that account then why was that check cashed, it should have been returned to their bank and that should be the financial institution responsible for the fee not me I didn’t write the bad check. In all Wells Fargo is a horrible financial institution and I am moving all of my funds to a different bank.
