UNBELIEVABLE..AND SO FULL OF REGRET!! I have been a student at Westwood College for almost two years now for a bachelors degree in criminal justice. I am stuck here!! This field is my passion and has been since I was young. As a new mother at only 20 yrs old I looked into many schools and made an appointment with..UGH..Westwood College.

(WORD TO THE WISE: ANY SCHOOL THAT HAS TO HAVE AN ADMISSIONS REP SALES TEAM IN ORDER TO ENTICE PEOPLE TO ACTUALLY WANT TO GO THERE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED SCARY.)

I felt like this trashy lady who was the admissions rep was practically a "car salesman!!" I should have suspected something right there but she made everything sound so WONDERFUL (RIGHT!!) And I swear to god this woman told me that the college was regionally accredited and that "most if not all" other colleges would take me after I obtained a bachelors at Westwood because my goal was to get a masters and she knew that. I had to meet with her one more time and she specified over and over to bring exactly $100 dollars for certain procedures. (I gave her the money and all that happened afterwards was the signing of a few papers and my school ID photo.) Afterwards, I got word they received comission. (I swear she must have pocketed that money.)

When school began it was not what I expected at all. I hoped for a professional and "higher learning institution" ..LOL.. It was like a pre-school classroom in every room!! Literally. The classes were ridiculous and even two yrs later with one year left to go it still shocks me!! The most low-level type of people went here. Almost scummy and tasteless in a way. Just desperate to get a job I guess they were even easier targets.

As terms went on I felt trapped ... And so full of regret for ever coming here!! I already owed so much money that I felt I couldn't leave because I had no where else to go with those "non-transferrable credits!!" So I just kept telling myself not to quit or give up. It will get better like they promised (I Complained numerous times.)

Well...It never did:
-Certain students are favored and the instructors will pass anyone. Even if they deserve to fail miserably!! I have always worked my ass off studying and still retain close to a 3.90 after 2 yrs but if youre a lazy loser you might be getting that too just because the instructors are told to "spoonfeed" you in order to keep up grades in the institution.
-Most of the teachers are terrible and have completely wasted my time!!!
-I feel like everytime I'm here I'm being sold something. Their all a bunch of salesman!!
-THEY ALL LIE!!! the financial aide office especially..i've already learned that lesson!!! THEY ARE THE WORST OF ALL!!
-OOHH and they will not find you a job or even help you with a resigme..dont believe they will when they tell you!!
-I could go on forever.

Just know I'm stuck here now..with low-lifes who know they will never amount to anything but still come to just to feel a sense of accomplishment when a monkey could pass this school. (JUST GET ON GOOD TERMS WITH YOUR TEACHERS..THEY'LL PASS YOU..I WORK SO HARD AND EARN HONEST A'S..OTHERS DO NOT!!)

This school is fraud and i wish i could take back ever coming here. they lie to get you in till youre literally stuck. the teachers, faculty, and even students are trash!!

RUN AWAY!!

I'm just wondering if there's anyone out there that is in the same boat as I am. I attended Westwood College in SW Houston, TX for a little over a year (2006-2008). I had most of my basics already completed so I was told by the advisor my cost would not be that high; infact, I remember her giving me an estimate of about $15, 000. I figured that was reasonable so I continued with the whole process and bought into their whole lies. I filled out for financial aid and did not receive grant money which wasn't a surprise. Afterwards I was encouraged to fill out the paperwork for loans. I went through the whole loan process. I had no clue how much my classes + books were going to cost and they never told me how much my award amount would be to begin with . They said to leave that spot blank while filling out the loan applications. They knew exactly how much I would need to borrow. YEA SURE. So I go to school and graduate. Let me just go on to mention that I learned ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Teachers passed everyone. I even had a teacher that hit on me and email/text perverted things. I was so close to filing charges if he would have touched me that would have been it. Back to the financial situation...I got out of school and realized that I owed about $25, 000 to Sallie Mae and $6, 000 to Westwood for private loans since my loans didn't cover everything (so they say). This isn't even going the full 2 years! I am going to UH now but I have to pay a crazy amount just right now on private loans. I don't even want to imagine what it will be like after I get out of school. This is crazy! Going to school there for a little over a year couldn't possibly cost that much! i attended westwood college in houston texas and was told that they worked with people that have a learning disability and the instructors would be able to work with me. i asked my instructor for extra credit several times and was told that she did not have time to get me any. as a result i fell below the gpa level of where i needed to be and was put on probation and told that if i did not get my gpa up i wold be failed and have to repeat the term. i made it clear to them that i had a learning disability from day one. i had to be out 2 weeks sick and was informed that if i did not attend class by a certin date i would be dropped. i contacted the school and told them i had a doctors note and tryed to work it out. they would not do so. also the instructor i had diid not cover the required lessons like the class was informed the meterial would be covered.

I have been attending Westwood college since Aug of '07 and when I signed up for the Visual Communications program. I asked if the classes I took there were able to transfer to other schools. I was told that it is up to the other schools discretion whether or not the classes were transferrable. That should have sent up a red flag.
Then in Jan of '09 I was told that the cirriculm has changed and that they apply to me! 5 classes that i have already taken would no longer apply toward the degree, I was half way done, and now I am not!
This doesn't sit right with me at all I feel like I am getting ripped off, I recieved a copy of my ledger (since the school handles all of your finances) and at 4, 000 a term that is not too far from 10, 000 after term tuition and lab fees and books.
Books is another issue which i am sure that other students have complaints about.
If there is anything that can be done, a class action suit or something of that sort please contact me.

When I had entered Westwood College, I was told that Westwood was accredited, that any college would take my credits. Whe I wanted to transfer to another college, that college told me that they wouldn't take my credits. That Westwood College was not accredited. At first, I thought that I misunderstood when Westwood told me that they were accredited, But now I see that I was just another victim of Westwood College. This was in mid 2008. Now I have to pay over $15K, for what?? for nothing, no degree and no credits. They just took that money and I got nothing to show for it.
