I purchased an expensive mechanical sectional couch from WG&R Furniture. My sales man sold me on an extended warranty with the ultra shield protection. Well, literally months later nuts and bolts were falling apart on my sofa and I called the company. They sent a service guy out who took several pictures and told me he had to order some parts.
Over one month later I had not heard back so I phoned the company. I was transferred to the service department where the supervisor had told me that he again had to order parts. Meanwhile a piece of hardware from my sofa fell off damaged dry wall behind where my couch was located. I hadn't heard back from the service department again so I phoned back about another month later. The supervisor ordered a service tech out to my house but he wasn't there to fix my couch. (Mind you some time has passed here and my furniture has gotten progressively worse.) The service guy took more pictures and told me that my warranty was void because I neglected my furniture and ABUSE is not covered under my warranty.
Needless to say I called the supervisor again. WG&R simply refunded my money I had purchased for the extended warranty. My furniture fell apart three months after I purchased it. He told me there was nothing further he could do for me. He transferred me to Jim Greene's voicemail, president of the company, and said I needed to explain this all to him. Well Mr.Greene doesn't return phone calls. I sent this man a certified letter stating all that had happened and hoped that he would stand behind his company with more integrity than this.
To me this is no different than purchasing an extended warranty at a car dealership. The sales man doesn't expect something big to go wrong. But, in the event a transmission or an engine goes they don't refund the money because the problem is too expensive to fix. That is just bad business and down right unethical!!!
I know this is a legal matter and that I should be able to win this. The point is that it will cost me as much for an attorney as it will just to replace my furniture. There has got to be something else that I can do before going to such an extreme.
