I called the 800 number on the front of my user manual for my Whirlpool Front-Loading Washer and requested service. The A & E Factory Service technician showed up, looked at the error code on my washer (F71) and informed me that I needed a new mother-board computer part for my washer. He proceeded to print me off the part number and the cost of the part, $487.44. I informed him that before he showed up I spoke with Whirlpool and they were willing to offer me a 50% off the parts, I also informed him that I would order the part from Whirlpool and then call him back out. A & E charged me $70 for the diagnosis and informed me that when they came back out to install the part/fix the problem that I would be billed another $93 for labor.

When I called Whirlpool to order the part, they informed me that the original cost of the part was $234.52. I informed the very nice young man at Whirlpool that A & E was going to charge me $487.44, which is a 100% mark-up. The man at Whirlpool wanted me to send all of the information so that he can report A & E for overcharging their customers and ultimately Whirlpool's customers.

When the second technician from A & E came out, he put in the new mother-board computer part and the washer started working but only for a little bit. Then a code of F70 came up, he worked on it a little bit longer and told me that I needed another computer part and that it would be $345 for the second part, I informed him that I would call Whirlpool and order the part from them because A & E jacks up the price of their parts by over 100%. The technician didn't charge me for the second call because as he put it, I just diagnosed another problem.

I called Whirlpool back to order part #2 and again spoke with a very nice young lady, she listened to my story and was very apologetic. She informed me that the second part that A & E quoted me $345 was only $191.05 from Whirlpool, again A & E is jacking up the price of their parts by a VERY large margin. The nice young lady at Whirlpool informed me that she was going to send me the second part free of charge and again free second day air, she also informed me that she was going to schedule a different service company in my area to come out and that Whirlpool would pay for the trip charge, all I would have to pay for is the labor charge with this new company.

Anyway, hopefully this helps some other people out there that have been RIPPED OFF BY A & E Factory Service, I wouldn't go with them to service anything in my house if they were the last repair service company left on the planet. Don't do it, just call another company!!!
