broken
i purchased a washing machine and paid for it to be installed. i am a single person so it had not been misused or overused when i called for my first repair 2 weeks ago..the repairman said as a result of the improper installation..motor fell out bottom of machine due to not being attached properly inside appliance, the machine had to be repaired as it was..i left town for 2 weeks use the machine last weekend and water is pouring out everywhere ...now i am fed up with sears i have another repair appt scheduled for nest monday and of course another bill of 129.00. bottom line i have had a washing machine for over 10 years prior to this purchase that still worked i just wanted to be more energy concious..i feel ripped off by sears, even though i have bought every appliance from sears in this lifetime i am disappointed by the shoddy service leading up to the damage and nonfuntioning washer..

Defective thermocouple
Like many MANY others I have had nothing but problems with my Whirlpool water heater I bought at Lowe's. We have replaced the thermocouple three times, and for some reason Whirlpool thinks it is ok just to give you a part that you have to install on your own. If this were a car they wouldn't be able to get away with it. Why is Lowe's allowed to keep selling these when SOOOOO many people file formal complaints???

refrigerator
my refrigerator died. I went and purchased a new whirpool refrigerator. NOW FOR THE SECOND TIME IN FOUR MONTHS I lost all my food!
This new refrigerator has a major problem. It seems strange the repairman came in with a part in hand, hmmm. Well after researching this, I found that whirlpool has a problem with control modules. They are made cheap and don't last. I mean come on three months, on a new fridge! The repair man came in changed the part left. I called to try to get reimbursed for the loss of food, because it has been less than four months since purchase. I got a call back from a sears rep and was told they don't cover food. HA! Well I can understand that but not when it is a new refrigerator less than four months old! Hopefully someone will read this that is in need of a refrigerator.

Microwave caught on fire
I posted a complaint earlier about our Whirlpool microwave catching on fire while cooking popcorn. I forgot to attach the picture... so here it is. It's a good thing that our 11 year old son wasn't using the microwave to cook popcorn after coming home from school because he would have panicked and the house would have burned down. Our model was a built-in with trim kit, etc. We had to unscrew everything before we could take it out to the garage.
We contacted Whirlpool and they sent out a local factory trained technician to investigate. He says that the magnetron was faulty. That was a couple of days ago. Still haven't heard back from Whirlpool. So... I'm researching on the internet to find others who have had this unbelievably exciting experience.
Oh, by the way, the microwave was set on the "sensor cook" mode for popcorn. It works really well... usually... or, until it catches on fire.

Think twice before buying from them
At least a month and a half has gone by and I am still waiting for a refund from Whirlpool. I have called several times and each time I am assured that my refund request has been submitted. I have also contacted the company by email two or three times but have gotten no response whatsoever, even though it says on their website that they will respond within 3 days. I should not have to wait almost two months to receive a refund, especially since the charge is on my credit card and incurring interest charges in the meantime! (The charge was only for a water filter but the point is either I am being jerked around or their customer service ***!)

Dont buy Whirlpool or from Lowes

2006 REFRIGERATOR
In July of 2006 I made the mistake of purchasing a houseful of whirlpool appliances from Lowes. The Cabrio washer (cost $900) stopped working a month ago (Sept 2010) - repair cost $600.
The side by side refrigerator stopped working yesterday, appears to be the compressor, a major repair on a part (compressor) that most reputable manufacturers warrant for five (5) years, not these guys. I am replacing both appliances after receiving no satisfaction from either Lowes or Kitchenaid (Whirlpool's parent hold company). It appears that both Lowes and this manufacturer are more interested in service and repair residual income on the poorly manufactured merchandise than on sales, I am telling everyone one I know and don't know (through this outlet) to stay clear of both businesses and their products. So, DON'T BUY WHIRLPOOL APPLIANCES, DON'T BUT KITCHEN AID PRODUCTS, DON'T PURCHASE FROM LOWES HOME STORE - MERCHANDISE IS SHODDY, SERVICE IS NON-EXISTENT.

shabby service
I have been in my new house (first occupant-new appliances) when mydishwasher went out. AHS sent out Sears to repair. They had to order a part which took a month. When they installed the part, I now have a black and white dishwasher. All other appliances are white. When I called they told me that my contract says they have a right to replace with any color. I assumed that meant with replacing an entire appliance. I asked "would you want a black door and a white door on a two door refrigerator?" I was then scheduled another appointment with Sears so that they can come and check it out. I took off work ($479.00 daily rate) and no one showed up. When I called, they told me that AHS cancelled the appointment. I was not notified. So I not only have a mix-matched appliance, I also lost a days pay which was enough to buy another dishwasher. I have pictures that will be posted on the internet real soon if you are interested in seeing what can happen to you. Follow you tube real soon titled "Look what you get from AHS" I will add photos when I learn how.
