outrageous charge for service call for job performed
We own a 4-1/2 year old Whirlpool Duet washer, which over the last few months started giving us computer errors indicating lack of power, problems with the door latch or electric control board problems. We searched on the internet possible solutions to the problem, which appeared to be replacing the electric control board under the top cover in the center of the machine. To ensure that our thinking was correct and that there were no other issues, we contacted Whirlpool to discuss the problem, giving Whirlpool the model and serial # for our machine and to refer us to a repair company, hence A&E Repair Service. The technician came to our home without the part, but also DID NOT run a diagnostic to determine the issue(s). We told him what we thought was the problem and that was it! He gave me a price to have the work done and quoted me almost $500.00. I questioned the amount and told him that I knew that the part alone would be $200.00 and how could his service call be $300.00! He then went to his truck to doublecheck his numbers and came back with a $300.00 figure. We decided not to go with him and told him since he didn't have the part, we would look otherwise and do the work ourselves. He contacted a local repair company to find out if they had the part in stock, which they did. Fortunately, the control board was the problem and we did the work. My issue is that he did not run any diagnostic tests to confirm the problem and then charged a service call of $129.00. Outrageous! I will not call this company again. I have found another company that is HALF the cost of this one and are highly recommended.

Waterheater-Flamelock
I needed a new water heater ASAP so i went to Lowes, Madison IN., and purchased a Whirlpool water heater. This particular model says "Flamelock" on it. BEWARE!! This is the biggest piece of JUNK, next to the 2010 Chevy Malibu.<br />

From the start the water heater started leaking as the water heated up. Sears was contacted to make the needed repairs. The water heater had EVERY possible part on it replaced. No luck, it kept leaking. So the water heater was replaced with a new one.<br />

The new heater started leaking from the start!! Whirlpool was notified AGAIN and they sent Sears out AGAIN!! This water heater was also completely reworked. No luck, it kept leaking.<br />

Well through my research I have found that Whirlpool has had numerous complaints and problems with their FLAMELOCK brand water heaters across the country!!! As it turns out they can only handle 60-65 lbs of water pressure. Most homes are 70-75 lbs of pressure. This extra pressure on the tank causes the water, as it is heated, to leak out the pressure valve.<br />

I have added a pressure reducer, $65-$95, and reduced the water pressure down to 65 lbs. The leak has slowed, at the worst i would dump out approx 1 gallon of water a day, now it is down to about 3-4 cups. By reducing the pressure our shower pressure has suffered! <br />
<br />
Whirlpool will not remove the water heater, refund my money and I'm stuck with a piece of junk! I have also had to have the ignitor replaced at 6 months and this too is a common problem with this model!!!<br />

Moral of this story, DONT BUY WHIRLPOOL!!!

bad service
Bray and scarff is the WORST. I will NEVER buy anything from them again. When I bought my Whirlpool washer and dryer in Bethesda I was talked into a more expensive machine because I would get a manufacturer rebate. When I sent in for the rebate I never got it. I called the sales guy - he said he would send it in...never got it...decided to just write it off.

THEN MY WASHER broke. It took several days to get a repair. I had to wait the whole day because "the technician was running late" and could not give me a window of time. He shows up late for work and I have to take the whole day off of work? How is that good service. Then the guy came. Said he needed a part and three weeks later (and several trips to the laundry mat...oh yeah...love having $3k machine and dragging my underwear to a laundry mat!) the part finally arrives...several days more to schedule an appt...then when they leave...the washer works but they broken my dryer! Now...over a week to get my dryer fixed. Same deal with technician running late so I blow my whole day waiting. Wonder what they will break this time! Oh yeah, when I called to schedule the service I was on hold for 10 min then it cut me off. I called back...on hold again for 10 min and cut off AGAIN! Unreal. What TOTALLY BAD SERVICE. NO ONE CARES and no manager has contacted me. NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!

icemaker broken
He was dispatched to service my Whirlpool icemaker on 11/24/09. He came out, looked at it and said "Yeah, it's broken. You need a replacement. I usually have extras in my truck, but I used the last one this morning. I'll have to come back". He didn't say when, but we assumed he had them at his shop and he would be back the next week. We never heard from him. Two wks later I called the Maytag Service Contract company and they gave me his number to call. When I called him and asked when he would be out to finish the repair, he answered, "Oh, January, 2011". Then he said he didn't remember who I was so I filled him in on the part we were waiting for. He said it was out of stock and he would be back as soon as he got the part. He never called to update me. On 12/11/09 I called him and he said the B/O should be in on 12/15 and he would be out by 12/17. He never called. On 12 29 we called and left a msg, but he never returned the call. On 1/4/10 I called the Maytag Service Dispatch again and they contacted him. He said the part is in and he would be out on 1/5. He never called. On 1/7 I called Maytag again and they again called Ernie. He then said he just got over the Flu and just got back to work that day so he would be out the next day to service it. Never heard from him. I finally called Maytag again on 1/12 and after contacting Ernie, he stated to them that the wrong part was sent to him so he would have to order another. They canceled the call and are now dispatching A&E Factory Service for Thur 1/14. That should be interesting since I just checked the internet and found there have been a lot of complaints about them. I don't think I'll be buying any Whirlpool or Maytag appliances in the future.

we bought a whirlpool waterheater two years ago, it went out, whirlpool replaced it but we hyad to pay to have it put in. I'ts not our fault it went out.they should have paid to have it put in too! we are on a fixed income this does not help our situation any, please resolve, we should get our money back for the labor!

I am feeling very bad to have Whirlpool product. The way the serivce center and service ppl r not at all reacting good. when i am asking the status abt my product they r saying they dont have that status and the service center ppl r not at all coming to see that product and the compliant is remains their for 6 months. I can Mr.narender and Mr. Raju service center guy is not at all good to work. They dont know how to deal with the ppl and even i thought to give the product back. Dont ever buy any product from whirlpool AND I SPEND ALREADY 3500 AND WAITED FOR 6 MONTHS, AS OF NOW MY PROBLEM YET TO BE SOLVED.
