The company, White Orchid Living, signed an insertion order [contract] with Avenues magazine for 1 page of advertising in the Fall 2008 issue. The total cost: $1800. The magazine printed and an invoice was sent to a man named Ali, accounts payable, on Sept 17, 2008.

After numerous e-mails, phone calls and phone messages, the bill is still not paid. Ali signed the insertion order and we've provided all information he requested.

The company is owned by Dr. Tarick Smaili and his brother Jihad. Dr. Smaili owns California Surgical Institute which is all over the state of California. White Orchid has stores in Los Angeles and Costa Mesa, CA. There has been no response by either party despite numerous attempts by phone and e-mail.

Our recommendation: don't do business with White Orchid Living. Or if you do: get payment up front and in full.
