$278.38 charged to my account for product I don't want.
Whiteningbrites
SmileBrite
Axiswellnesportal
Wierfit
Berry
These are the names that my credit card account was charged under for ordering this product along with a foreign transaction fees.
They charged once for the trial Whitenbrites ($85.37 + 2.56 foreign transaction fee) under the name of WHITENINGBRITES on my statement, and twice for the SmileBrite (85.37+2.56 each time) under the names of TRYRESV and BERRY on my statement AND a charge to Axis Wellness Portal ($9.99) to access their web site (AXISWELLNESSPORTAL on my statement). There is another charge for $5.95 to WEIRFIT that I think is for the free trial.
I did the following:
Called my credit card company. I closed the account but was told if it was a reoccuring charge, that they could keep charging to it unless I called and canceled all memberships. (Oh, that is what one of the places will tell you, that you did not purchase a trial SAMPLE, you purchased a trial MEMBERSHIP).
I called each number on my statement and canceled - 2 of the numbers were for the Whiteningbrites and Axiswellnesportal and the other 3 numbers were all for the SmileBrite - but I called each one and made them confirm they had received my cancelation and to give me a cancelation number. I did not get a number for the Whitenbrites or AxisWellnessPortal, but got an email confirming my cancelation. I called the Billing Disputes department of my credit card company and gave them the cancelation numbers or told them I had rec'd a cancelation email for all the charges and they noted it on my account that any charges made after my cancelation woudl be disputed.
I had received a box of the SmileBrite, with a note enclosed with it saying that they hoped I had enjoyed my Whitening Brites 15 day trial. This is how I found out that I was being charged 88.97 for this product. I then went online and brought up my credit card account to find all the charges. If I had not done this (and waited for the hard copy that is mailed each month) they would have probably charged me even more. The confusing part is, I returned the SMILEBRITE to the address I got from one of my emails. But the note that came with it told me to return it to a different address (the one for Whitening Brites (also, you have 15 days to return the product for a full refund and the 15 days starts from the day THEY mail it to you - I was able to get it in the mail and postmarked on the last day).
I am hoping to get at least 1 refund from this lesson. I just sent the product back today and plan on filing a dispute with the CC company if I don't get this resolved. This is the type of thing our CC companies shoud be protecting us from, and you can tell from talking to the customer service people that the know all about these companies yet theyallow them to rip off their customers.
I know there is a special place in hell for the people who run this scam. I also read that I probably need to keep an eye on my credit report, as these scammers have been known to open accounts with the data they get from us.
