Rip off
I have been a Wildblue customer for almost 2 years. I have never had the download speed that I paid for and I even upgraded! They have a Fair Access Policy which will prevent you from even getting on the internet if you exceed the download amount you pay for, but that is bound to happen because you have to keep your computer running for hours, even days in order to download anything. Their excuse when you call their poorly named customer service department is "many people are on the web, so it slows the speed". So, from anywhere from a few days to a few weeks you can barely get on to check your email and it take several minutes for a page to load. Everyone that has signed up for Wildblue in my area is complaining of the same problem. Basically, you are paying for internet service, but not getting it, and you still have to pay no matter how slow the service is!

Screws customers
There is NO WAY to fight a FAP claim with Wildblue. If they say you went over, you went over. Period. Years ago I (and MANY others) requested that they show actual daily usage so we could manage our own use but they STILL only have a 30 day rolling total. There is no way at all for the customer to see when the supposed use that took one over the limit actually took place.
All of a sudden one day I'm at 97%. Way way way out of the norm.
I was home and sick so barely even checked my email for 5 or 6 weeks. My system is totally locked down so no one else can be using my bandwidth. I have excellent malware & virus protection and use it faithfully. There is no explanation whatsoever as to how I could be at 97% of my download. But that doesn't matter. If Wildblue says you are hogging the bandwidth they slow you down so far you can't even load a web page.
They fap'd me once several years ago, (when I sent several very large photos all on one day (new grandbaby!) and it apparently took me over the % limit) and it took over 2 months for them to return me to "normal" speeds. (Since during FAP you can't do anything at all online, how in the heck could it have taken 63 days before those photos dropped off???)Most of the time I'm at 7% download usage and maybe 2% upload usage.
If I had ANY other choice I'd drop them immediately. (There is Hughesnet here but I can't afford the new startup fees so I'm rather stuck until my phone company upgrades the lines out here.)
Believe me, during FAP'd status, your dial-up is FAR better than wildblue. Dialup may be rather slow but at least the pages load. I usually had about 60 kbs with dialup but on fap it was like 6!!!
