False advertisment
If you're looking for 'horsey hell, ' you've found it. What the barn offers in 'aesthetics, ' it lacks in safety and management for your and your horse's wellbeing and peace of mind. Owner has NO concept of customer service or respect for her clients' and their horses' wishes and welfare. Website and classified ads posted all over the internet paint a very pretty picture and give a sense of a good environment for horse and human alike. The facilities are beautiful, but lack in functionality and safety from the slippery 'stamped concrete floors' to the high tensile wire fencing that sliced up a couple horses quite nicely during my experience with this farm. Horses are at owner's mercy in regards to turn out. At first, all things seem great, but eventually your horse will get very little to no turn-out period. OR if they do manage to escape from their stalls, they'll be turned out in the arena without any water. Horses frequently went without water for extended periods over the winter months when automatic waterers (that are heavily advertised by the barn) are shut off. One mare colicked so severely and the owner did not take necessary precautions that she nearly died. Another mare goes through bouts of heaves due to being shut up in her stall so frequently. Owner admitted to smoking marijuana inside barns. On one occasion, she claimed one of her mares (the one who colicked, imagine that...) likes to smoke and proceeded to blow smoke up the horse's nostril. Stall cleanliness seems to be a constant issue. Owner will claim she will happily accommodate you and your special needs horse, but does not follow through - especially if that involves necessary turn-out. ALL FORMER BOARDERS HAVE LEFT THIS BARN - that should tell you something! DRAMA QUEEN does not begin to describe the owner. Be prepared for tears and a fight when you need something changed. You will be told promises up and down the board that make this place sound like the best place on earth, but I promise you - if you care at all about your horse and if you have any standards whatsoever, you will find out the hard way that those promises were full of hot air. There are many other barns in the area that offer more for the price of board, and most importantly - CARE about you and your horse. If owner would change the wording of her advertisements and website to state what she REALLY offers in terms of turn-out and services, she might not have a bad name. However, she continues advertising things that she simply does not offer and sadly, due to pure laziness, probably never will. If you have any standards of welfare and care at all for your horse(s), please look elsewhere for boarding.
