This summer I checked into the Wingate hotel in Allentown, Pa with my daughter. I booked through expedia on the phone. I brought up our luggage with the luggage cart, went out and when I returned had more things to bring to the room, which I was planning to stay in for three days. It was 11:30 pm and I was with my nine year old, and pulled my car to the front and asked for a luggage cart. The front desk person said I'd have to wait, two people just checked in and took them. We waited. And waited. She disappeared from behind the desk. Fifteen minutes later I went to the desk, called for her, she didn't answer, I rang the bell, and ssked where the carts were. She said she doesn't know. I asked her to call the guests who took them. No, she said, it's too late. Too late? I said. I'm not disturbing anyone right now, she said. Well, I have a car full of things to bring up and I can't leave them in the car. I need a luggage cart, can you get them? No, she said. No? No, I can't leave the front desk.
The lobby besides us being there was deserted. Call your manager I said. She sarcastically said yeah right I'll do that, and she walked away, leaving me and my nine year old standing there. My daughter rang the bell. I told my daughter some people in this world are like that, rude, nasty, probably have miserable lives and bestow their anger on others. No doubt my conversation was heard, next thing I hear is her on the phone in the back whispering. I sat down on a couch in the lobby and called expedia and while on the phone with a rep, the police walked in. They said we have to leave. At midnight, my daughter and I were escorted out of the hotel. The expedia rep called the hotel and they would not refund my money either, and the clerk finally stopped answering the phone. The expedia rep was on the phone with me when the police walked in.
I wrote the entire incident down at that time with names, and exact situation with details. I was going to send it in somewhere but haven't yet had time to do it. I just found your website and would like to give you the entire story to publicize what happened with us at this hotel.
I hardly even remember if the name of this hotel was, by the way, windhym ...wingate by wyndham...but I do have it in my journal. It was down the block from Dorney Park in allentown..in a subsection of allentown of which town I can't recall, but as I said, I wrote it all down. Bizarre thing, and ultimately I'd like to tell you the result of what went down.
