In July 2009, like many other national retailers, Office Depot offered pre-orders for Windows 7 Home Premium upgrades at a discounted price of $49.99 each. The regular price is $119.99 each. The offer expired on July 11, 2009, but I placed my order for 2 upgrades on July 7, 2009 for a total (including tax) of $108.23.
The product was released on October 22, 2009. On October 21, 2009, my bank card was charged. On that day, I checked Office Depot's website. It claimed my order would be delivered on October 23. Unfortunately, I did not receive the order. I participated in a live chat on Office Depot's website. The representative told me my order was canceled due to "credit issues" and that I should contact Customer Service by telephone. The telephone representative confirmed that, on the same day my bank was charged, a 2-day hold was placed on the order at Office Depot's warehouse. He could not tell me the reason for the hold. It expired on 10/23/09 and the order was canceled.
He offered to take my re-order, but could not give me the special $49.99 price! I complained about this fact, but he said he would have to escalate the call to Customer Order Resolutions. About an hour later, I received a call from another Office Depot representative. She apologize for the problem, but could not offer any explanation. In addition, she also offered to take my re-order, but coud not offer the special price. When I complained, she suggested I contact Office Depot's corporate headquarters.
Hopefully, I'll get my money back. Of course, I'd rather Office Depot honor their sales price. The difference is significant: $151! It makes me mad because I almost order these upgrades through Amazon.com. One thing's for sure, I'll never order anything else from Office Depot!
