When we signed the windows, doors & more contract we were assured that the roofing crew would clean up after themselves. We were specifiably told that they would thoroughly 'sweep' the ground with their stick mounted magnet to pick up all stray nails. I used to be a roofer, I KNOW it can be done with maybe, MAYBE one or two nails missed if it is done repeatedly.
My husband and I have picked up five dozen + nails from the lawn, cement walk, and driveway. One we found in the tire of our car (18 dollars) and one I found the hard way by stepping on it. The nail was driven all the way into the ball of my foot and required a 200 dollar redi-med visit plus about 50 dollars for antibiotics and betadine. Plus the excruciating pain from the wound itself and the infection that took hold before the antibiotic could and the side effects from the antibiotic AND the fact that I couldn't wear a shoe on that foot for almost two weeks.
They were also supposed to dispose of the old shingles and waste and tear strips from the new shingles by putting them directly in a receptacle that was on a lift level with the roof. About a third of their debris ended up on the ground all over my lawn, flowers, and walkway and some completely distroyed flowers I had planted.
I will never do business with that company again for ANY of their services.
