Ann Smith called with sweepstakes final selection news in the Dreams Come True Sweepstakes. Final entry required purchase of one magazine subscription, which would get you four magazine subscriptions for the price of one. She was real nice. I told her I always hang up on telemarketers; but since I just got a job as a telemarketer, I would help her with a sale. It was only $3.79 per week for four magazine subscriptions, right!?! And, I would be receiving $650.00 in free gifts; to include, a "state-of-the-art" 35mm digital camera and 100 rolls of Kodak film via Fed Ex or UPS within the next 10 days. Bobbie Hartman called back a few minutes later and said they would be charging $3.79 per week on a monthly basis, approximately $15.00 per month. She kept repeating $15.00 per month. She tried to push a 60 month subscription. I said no. So, she said it could be reduced to 36 months, no less -- UNTIL I GAVE HER MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER, EXP DATE, and SECURITY CODE. She then said the charge would be $59.12 for 10 months, which would pay off the subscription and there would be no further billing. She said several times the credit card would be charged "later on in the month" then I would then receive a monthly bill, which I would pay with a check or money order. She later said the first monthly charge will be made in 10 days to my credit card and I would then receive a monthly bill, which I would pay with a check or money order. When I asked her the cancellation policy, she got angry. She was speaking really fast and sniffing a lot and I was writing everything down. She did not like to have to repeat herself. She said they don't like you to cancel. I persisted in why can't I cancel at any time, you keep the magazines I haven't paid for. She kept saying she did not understand. So, I explained it about three different ways. When she said she still did not understand, I said I did not want anything, just cancel the whole thing. She said "Yeah! Cause you sound real STUPID! and hung up the phone - SLAMMING IT DOWN. I tried to call back and only received a busy signal. If you get a call from GEORGIA 678-969-9599 BEWARE!!! IT IS A SCAM!
