Woodforest National Bank Reviews

They take your money
This bank is notoriously known for taking clients money. They have taken over half of my paycheckS and this last time not only did they take my entire paycheck but they put me back in overdraft. Because of this bank and their business I was evicted from my home of 8 1/2 years, my baby was put out of daycare, my car almost got repossessed, I had no money for food to feed my 3 kids and I. They put me in a financial disaster. The lady at my son's FORMER daycare stated that Woodforest did the same thing to her. Its pretty bad when people ask you who do you bank with and you say Woodforest and you always get some sort of negative response. I have NEVER heard anyone say anything nice about Woodforest! They didn't even bother to notify me of the problems I was having with the account. They made an error on my account and refuse to take responsibility for it and try to help resolve it. I now refuse to put anymore money in their bank. Also there is an employee in the Savoy office Ken who is VERY rude and hateful. Who wants to bank with someone who is nasty to you?! I recommend for people who are considering doing business with Woodforest National Bank to RUN RUN RUN away from there and find another bank to do business with, unless you want to give away your hard-earned money.

Theft/Fraud
This bank is as shady as they come! Not only do they charge outrageous fees, but they don't provide enough information when you get your e-statements to see what some of the transactions were for. When you email them to find out more information about the transaction, they charge you $2.00. It is a vicious cycle with this bank. But the kicker is...I bank in San Antonio at the Woodforest branch in Wal-mart on SE Loop 410 and Rigsby--and the manager took $50 out of my account without giving me any kind of notice. I pulled up the trasaction record for May 5, 2009--and the scanned copy of the debit was signed by the manager and the memo for the transaction only stated "Xfer to proper account". This led me to believe that they had accidentally made a deposit that was supposed to be for another customer into my account. I pulled up my transaction history, and NO $50 deposit was ever placed into my account by the bank. They STOLE $50 from me. When I went to the branch in person to get more information about the transaction (on several occasions) the manager was always "unavailable". I went to a different branch to see if anyone there could help me, and one of the other branch managers told me "very secretively" that it looks like the manager "improperly took the funds". I asked her to please conduct an inquiry into the transaction to help me get the $50 deposited back into my account, and she said she would "take care of it." After 4 weeks of waiting and not seeing my money, I went back to the manager who said she would help me (at the Wal-mart branch on Jones-Maltsberger in San Antonio) and she acted like she had NEVER spoken with me. She pretended to not know anything about my situation. These people are very, very shady. The customer service is awful. When you go into a branch to make a straight cash deposit, they treat you like you have to "qualify" just to put your cash in your bank. A straight deposit should never take 5 minutes. They are pulling up screen after screen, scratching their heads like they've never seen a straight cash deposit for $500. Needless to say, I've closed my account and now bank with Wells Fargo. I banked at Woodforest National Bank because it was close to my house, and I shop at Wal-mart at least once a week. I thought it would be convenient, but did not realize I would be stolen from. I never did get my money back. Avoid these deceptive people at all cost.

Retail credit card services
I signed up with Merchant Credit Card Services when we first opened in May of 2008. I have never had a retail business so I was depending on the honesty of the sales rep representing this company. I am a seasonal business and only open for 5 months and closed the other 7 months. I tried to call and see if I could shut the service down the months my business wasn't open and was told I was in a three year contract and couldn't turn off service. I was never told nor was it in any of my paperwork that I was in 3 year contract. I didn't receive statements half of the time and had to call to get them. I tried to cancel the service today and was told I still couldn't because of my contract. I told them I never signed a contract for 3 years and they told me I was informed in statements of changes to my contract. If you don't receive statements, how can one know of changes and is this legal to change in the middle of a contract? I am paying $22.95 per month service fee when closed and not uses the services. I hate dealing with this company. They were very slow putting the money in my account too. Sales from Friday, Sat and Sunday weren't put in my account until tuesday. Don't use Merchant Credit Card Services thru Woodforest National Bank.

Customer Service
The employees are ignorant and rude. They apparently don't want to gain any new business. They should be concerned about things like this seeing as the banking industry is under fire. I wouldn't recommend this bank to my worst enemy.

Poor Human Resource Relations
This bank is a joke if you consider how they treat their associates. During possibly the worst storm of the decade, with almost zero visibility, bank associates were told they had to stay at work..."If Walmart is open, so are we". And we all know Walmart cares for their employees...Not! Associates were also told that if the roads were expected to be unsafe for travel the next day that they would be expected to stay in the hotel next to their branches to ensure they could open. No consideration for families, or safety of their associates. Unless of course you're the regional manager who stated in front of associates "Well, it's starting to snow again, I better get on the road before they get bad and get home to my babies (dogs)".

This is not a company I would recommend working for or doing business with. They have shoddy management techniques, leaders who are untrained and have no consideration for the welfare of their employees...no wonder they have such a great relationship with Walmart! The regional manager of this area should be fired, as should his direct supervisor.

Fraud
I am currently paying on a over draft account discrepancy and i finally get close to paying it off and they always call me with a new account balance. It's like they haven't been getting th payments that iv'e made. I don't know what is going on, but if there is a company using the TRS Recovery name in associated with Woodforest National Bank calling me for payments and i make them and they don't receive, then someone is stealing my money. I WILL NOT PAY ONE MORE CENT TO WOODFOREST FRAUDULENT BANK. I will be suing.

Rude, always having to wait in a line
I just got off work, still in uniform. I needed to get ones for Lunch money for my children which I have six. At 2 dollars a kid 12 dollars a day 60 dollars a week. I wanted a 100 in ones. No big deal right. Well wrong according to Amanda the teller there, told me Since my employer doesnt have an account there she can not give me the ones. Even though this 100 dollars came out of my account by a counter check. She told me they dont order enough money for non account holder to get change.. I have been with Woodforest for about 6 years now, and thought that considered me an account holder??????? If you ever have to go to the bank also expect to take about 10 mins just to get to the counter. Always a line and only one teller working.. I have only had problems with the one Teller Amanda she is very rude and hateful.

Went to Conroe Woodforest and needed to get a money order, once again I wrote a counter check because my debit card strip was messed up and waiting for a new one. The teller told me she couldnt process my request because my signatures werent a match, I had 2 forms of ID and she still wouldnt give me my money.. What is wrong with this picture.. convicted felons working in a bank and they are worried that my signture wasnt a exact match..

Bank Manager Is Raciest
I was at this bank last week to cash a $30 check that was written to me by my wife. My wife is a customer of this bank. Upon arriving at the bank I noticed only one teller. Instead of saying hello to me this teller immediately went in the room and came out with another girl. At this time I initiated the conversation and asked the new girl that came out to cash my check. First the teller asked me for my drivers license then she asked me she needs my passports an additional ID because its the bank rule to have two IDs for non customers. I told the teller I don't have a passport. I asked if I could see a manager. At this time the girl than ran into the back room after seeing me stepped up and stated that she was the new branch manager and she needs a passport in addition to my valid license. Upon asking what's the logic of having two IDs for a $30 check I was told by this middle aged blond branch manager that they see lots of fraud being committed by black people and a manger can ask for a second ID based on her discretion. I was shocked after hearing that this branch manager needed a second ID from me for a $30 check because I was black. I asked to speak with her manager and she told me she is the branch manager and if I don't like her I should leave the branch. I am amazed at the recruiting standards and customer service offered at this bank. Today I have filed a complaint with better business bureau and I plan on writing to the local news paper about the racism I faced. I would like to encourage all of you to tell your friends and family about this bank inside the Wal Mart in Kankakee.
