We rented a 31 camper from Woodlands Camper & RV over Memorial Weekend. They were very nice when we picked it up and explained everything involved. Got to the campground 2 hrs away and attempted to open the slide. We could not open it. After numerous calls to Norman (who was trying to help) we were not able to get it open. So the first night was spent without the use of the bunk beds and bathroom/shower. We were told that they would not come out to fix it and we would have to bring it back in. The next morning my husband visited a neighboring campsite and borrowed an adjustable wrench to turn the hex nut shearing the aluminum pin. I took the steel pin for his receiver hitch and replaced the aluminum one. This worked and he called Norman after waiting a bit so he would not wake him about 10:00am Saturday to tell him we got it open.
Upon returning they were doing extensive land clearing on roads to the campground. A limb hit the side on the back corner of trailer baggage door and did some damage. We knew this would have to be repaired. My husband pointed out what was damaged when he returned it. He was told by employee checking it in that most people drop it and take off not pointing out damage. I was told an estimate would be done and they would get back to me on cost.
Well here is my BIG PROBLEM.
1. They charge $90.00 an hour for labor repairs!! We were not advised about this in advance as to what the cost would be if something happened.
2. They charged 10% sales tax. Only when we questioned it did they say it was a mistake and they did correct it. Who charges 10%, how could that have been an error unless they do it often and hope to not get caught?
Our bill is $425.67. Of that actual parts cost was $93.12. The rest was labor, parts shipping and tax.
We are not disputing the damage but those prices are Ridiculous So beware of these people.
