I was called at home by a very nice salesperson. She "sold" me on
the WordSmart DVD set to assist my daughter with SAT and ACT scores. I did agree to buy the DVD set with a 30-day return guarantee. We did pass the 30-days and I paid the $200+ for the set. On my next billing cycle I was charged $89.99. When I called they were very rude and said this was for a "Tutor?" I asked what tutor? they said a girl called, spoke to my daughter and asked her what her SAT scores were, what she needed to focus on, and they would be in touch.- there was never any other calls. I NEVER agreed to a tutor with charges of $89.99 per month. The salesperson said that was too bad. I asked to cancel all future charges, anything to do with this product. She said she couldn't and I would have to email the Board of Directors and wait 2 -3 weeks for a reply. I did this. No reply from anyone! I received my next statement with another $89.99 charge. I called again, was told the same thing ; to email the Board of Directors. I did with a 2nd notice and I would like a
reply. I called my credit card company and reported these 2 extra charges. They sent paperwork to WordSmart and gave them 45 days to reply to the charges. They did not reply. My dispute was closed by my credit card security company. I then recieved a bill from WordSmart for a 3rd $89.99 charge and I owed for 5 more charges. I called the number, the person was extremly rude and said it was my problem. I was supposed to call the board of directors back for a reply. (However you cannot call or speak to anyone- everything is through email to no response). I went around in circles with this person who said they have me recorded saying that I wanted the tutor and I would pay the $89.99. That is impossible. I told him I would like to hear this recording. He said I had to request this through email to... the Board of Directors. When I told him my
credit card security company contacted them for a reply to
my claims, they never complied. he said he didn't know anything about that and he can't do anything, don't get mad at the messenger. I reminded him, he's part of the company and I should be able to cancel anything I have not requested, nor used. He said No, too bad. I have to request it through.. the Board of Directors and then pay $45 cancelation fee and hung up.Damage Resulting = I was in shock. I went on the internet to only find numerous complaints exactly the same as mine. There is an actual webpage of complaints on this Scam. I have excellent credit and I am worried this will ruin my credit as well as scam other people. This must be against the law to just charge people whatever amount for however long. Please help!
