Somehow this business obtained my phone number from my daughter's school and called representing themselves a tudoring program implying it was at the behest of the school. Since I had just been contacted by the principal requesting my daughter participate in another local program, I assumed it was that program. The caller did not deny this. Normally, I would not not sign up for anything from an unsolicited call but since I assumed this was another program, I got scammed. I signed up but was given the impression I could drop out any time after the initial payment for the starter package. The starter program package arrived two weeks late and thus the initial cancel period in the fine print was past. No other packages have arrived but the bill seems to claim other packages have been sent. No one signed for the package and the company claims it was delivered on time even though the customer service operator did not check the records.
Shortly after signing up f0r the package, numerous false changes appeared on the seldom used card including foreign charges. It seems clear that someone at the company compromised my card number so I cancelled the card. At no time have I received any tudoring service yet the company has received over $300 for such services. The company has a no cancelation policy on their subscription program, again not made clear that this was a non-cancellable program. Since they could charge no more than what they had already charged on the now cancelled card, they billed me. I called to inform them of the probable credit card fraud by one of their employees but was met by absolute denial. To me, such a blanket denial with no effort to gather information indicates that perhaps the fraud is even more common with Wordsmart than local parent blogs would indicate and that it may not be an isolated employee. The company is not satisfied with receiving over $300 for nothing, they want more. Do not let these people have your credit card number. The company has threatened my credit in an attempt to get more money for nothing.
This has got to be one of the worst companies to do business with. The customer service rep claimed to troll all the complaintforums and thus has seen and read all the complaints. It seems clear from the scattering of unrealistic glowing posts on these forums that they do indeed read AND PARTICIPATE in many of the most common complaint forums. Too bad they can't participate on those closed to them. Since they claim to read all the complaints, they must but making false claims to get access.

Stay away from this company. We has ordered a SAT improvement CD which came as agreed on 08/02/2010. Then on 10/14/2010 a charge for 59.70 appeared on our card statement. There was never an agreement for this. I was called by a jerk that wanted to tell me that our conversation was recorded when we placed the order. I asked him to play the recording he said that it was not able to access it, ofcourse I ask why, he was able to tell me it was recorded however he can't produce the recording. The program itself did not help in the first place so we just assumed the orginal expense for the cd of 199.95 was a loss and a lesson learned. Here is what I have figured out so far, they will ask you questions like "Is your son a senior?" knowing your response is "YES". They will ask you all favorable questions to get you to SAY YES. That yes was just recorded and placed in their recording wherever they want it to be. If you decide to order from them make sure evey word out of your mouth is "NO" or it will COST YOU! Read what others are saying on google, type the following search phrases, "Wordsmart Fraud" "Wordsmart Complaints" and it will blow your mind and alot of your time to try to read all of these people that have been victim to the crooks. We will not go broke over it but I am concerned it will some people and causing them serious financial problems such as bouncing checks on the money that suck out of your account. TTY: 1-866-653-4261 so an investigation will be initiated. This is a very serious problem going on nationwide and needs to be addressed immediately. It just amazes me why the FEDS have not investigated them with this kind of grief from so many people. Wordsmart is very deceptive. We had to cancel our card to stop these idiots. I have just read on ripoffreport.com there is compaints piling up there as well. My bank was not shocked when I told them who the company was when filing the dispute.
